A Different Take on Ukraine

CN has been ahead of the news on Ukraine, from reporting the coup and warning of nuclear catastrophe as far back as 2015, to news of the current phase of the conflict. Help us to continue our coverage.

On Feb. 23, 2015, Robert Parry, the late founder of this website, warned that a U.S.-backed coup in Kiev and a war launched against the coup’s resisters in Ukraine’s east threatened the world with nuclear holocaust. It seemed an extreme position to take then. But does anyone think so today?

Having broken the biggest Iran-Contra stories for the Associated Press, Bob also broke the biggest stories debunking Russiagate for Consortium News, explaining how the phony scandal helped raise tensions between nuclear powers, including in Ukraine.

Parry distinguished himself with his coverage of the crisis in Ukraine from its beginning until his untimely death in January 2018.

He did not live to see his chilling forecasts being played out. Since Bob’s passing, we have endeavored to continue covering Ukraine in the same vein.  We warned 20 days in advance how the U.S. was provoking — and why it needed — Russia to intervene in Ukraine. We reported in March detailed confirmation of the U.S. strategy.

Our writers, such as Scott Ritter, Patrick Lawrence, Diana Johnstone and Joe Lauria, have throughout the crisis offered an antidote to the Official Narrative.

I recently watched a discussion which included clips of Rachel Maddow and Jake Tapper lying brazenly about the war in Ukraine. They can’t possibly be unaware of the mass of crucial information they omitted, since it is readily available, notably at Consortium News.

For whatever personal reasons they have decided to deceive their audience, betray journalism and the 1st Amendment, and sabotage democracy, they illustrate the breadth of the corruption that now engulfs our establishment institutions.

Fortunately there are a growing number of independent news outlets following CN’s courageous example. And it looks to me that the tide is turning.

    Thank you, Consortium News.

      Thanks!

The reasons for their lying is not “personal.” it is greed and money! Imagine if maddow and tapper er al came on and said “wait a minute, what are the facts here, was putin and russia provoked, threatened, we need to take another look at why we are all in on ukraine.”

They would be pulled in a heart beat.

Blinky, the kagans, et al stand to continue making a ton of money as a continuation of war.

I wouldn’t put it past all of the ‘meatheads’ supposedly running this country to aggravate the situation to the point of total annihilation of this beautiful Planet and all of her species. After all, their only god is MONEY…

I suppose we should have expected our bloodlusty leaders, motivated by arrogance and a feeling of impunity (as Pres. Putin said), would try to provoke a struggle with Russia, and now China. :-( . Parry was prescient.

Does anyone know the current number for the number of corporations who control everything you see, read and hear? It used to be commonly acknowledged as being the number 6, but that is a very dated number. I expected capitalism to keep contracting this number, but instead the ‘streaming’ world may have added a one or a two. But still, I doubt it is so high that most people couldn’t count it on their fingers.

A corporation has one an only goal. To maximize their profit. The officers can be sued for damages if the shareholders feel they are not ripping every red cent from the world. They are frequently described as being a ‘sociopath’ or a ‘psychopath’ in their behavior towards this goal. And a small handful of them control almost everything you see, read and hear.

Two bits of good advice flow from this.
    1. Support the independent voices.
    2. Turn off the corporate voices.
