Obama Warned on Syrian Intel

Exclusive: Despite the Obama administration’s supposedly “high confidence” regarding Syrian government guilt over the Aug. 21 chemical attack near Damascus, a dozen former U.S. military and intelligence officials are telling President Obama that they are picking up information that undercuts the Official Story.

MEMORANDUM FOR: The President

FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)

SUBJECT: Is Syria a Trap?

Precedence: IMMEDIATE

We regret to inform you that some of our former co-workers are telling us, categorically, that contrary to the claims of your administration, the most reliable intelligence shows that Bashar al-Assad was NOT responsible for the chemical incident that killed and injured Syrian civilians on August 21, and that British intelligence officials also know this. In writing this brief report, we choose to assume that you have not been fully informed because your advisers decided to afford you the opportunity for what is commonly known as “plausible denial.”

We have been down this road before with President George W. Bush, to whom we addressed our first VIPS memorandumimmediately after Colin Powell’s Feb. 5, 2003 U.N. speech, in which he peddled fraudulent “intelligence” to support attacking Iraq. Then, also, we chose to give President Bush the benefit of the doubt, thinking he was being misled or, at the least, very poorly advised.

Secretary of State John Kerry departs for a Sept. 6 trip to Europe where he plans to meet with officials to discuss the Syrian crisis and other issues. (State Department photo)

The fraudulent nature of Powell’s speech was a no-brainer. And so, that very afternoon we strongly urged your predecessor to “widen the discussion beyond …  the circle of those advisers clearly bent on a war for which we see no compelling reason and from which we believe the unintended consequences are likely to be catastrophic.” We offer you the same advice today.

Our sources confirm that a chemical incident of some sort did cause fatalities and injuries on August 21 in a suburb of Damascus. They insist, however, that the incident was not the result of an attack by the Syrian Army using military-grade chemical weapons from its arsenal. That is the most salient fact, according to CIA officers working on the Syria issue. They tell us that CIA Director John Brennan is perpetrating a pre-Iraq-War-type fraud on members of Congress, the media, the public and perhaps even you.

We have observed John Brennan closely over recent years and, sadly, we find what our former colleagues are now telling us easy to believe. Sadder still, this goes in spades for those of us who have worked with him personally; we give him zero credence. And that goes, as well, for his titular boss, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who has admitted he gave “clearly erroneous” sworn testimony to Congress denying NSA eavesdropping on Americans.

Intelligence Summary or Political Ploy?

That Secretary of State John Kerry would invoke Clapper’s name this week in Congressional testimony, in an apparent attempt to enhance the credibility of the four-page “Government Assessment” strikes us as odd. The more so, since it was, for some unexplained reason, not Clapper but the White House that released the “assessment.”

This is not a fine point. We know how these things are done. Although the “Government Assessment” is being sold to the media as an “intelligence summary,” it is a political, not an intelligence document. The drafters, massagers, and fixers avoided presenting essential detail. Moreover, they conceded upfront that, though they pinned “high confidence” on the assessment, it still fell “short of confirmation.”

Déjà Fraud: This brings a flashback to the famous Downing Street Minutes of July 23, 2002, on Iraq, The minutes record the Richard Dearlove, then head of British intelligence, reporting to Prime Minister Tony Blair and other senior officials that President Bush had decided to remove Saddam Hussein through military action that would be “justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD.” Dearlove had gotten the word from then-CIA Director George Tenet whom he visited at CIA headquarters on July 20.

The discussion that followed centered on the ephemeral nature of the evidence, prompting Dearlove to explain: “But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” We are concerned that this is precisely what has happened with the “intelligence” on Syria.

The Intelligence

There is a growing body of evidence from numerous sources in the Middle East, mostly affiliated with the Syrian opposition and its supporters, providing a strong circumstantial case that the August 21 chemical incident was a pre-planned provocation by the Syrian opposition and its Saudi and Turkish supporters. The aim is reported to have been to create the kind of incident that would bring the United States into the war.

According to some reports, canisters containing chemical agent were brought into a suburb of Damascus, where they were then opened. Some people in the immediate vicinity died; others were injured.

We are unaware of any reliable evidence that a Syrian military rocket capable of carrying a chemical agent was fired into the area. In fact, we are aware of no reliable physical evidence to support the claim that this was a result of a strike by a Syrian military unit with expertise in chemical weapons.

In addition, we have learned that on August 13-14, 2013, Western-sponsored opposition forces in Turkey started advance preparations for a major, irregular military surge. Initial meetings between senior opposition military commanders and Qatari, Turkish and U.S. intelligence officials took place at the converted Turkish military garrison in Antakya, Hatay Province, now used as the command center and headquarters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and their foreign sponsors.

Senior opposition commanders who came from Istanbul pre-briefed the regional commanders on an imminent escalation in the fighting due to “a war-changing development,” which, in turn, would lead to a U.S.-led bombing of Syria.

At operations coordinating meetings at Antakya, attended by senior Turkish, Qatari and U.S. intelligence officials as well as senior commanders of the Syrian opposition, the Syrians were told that the bombing would start in a few days. Opposition leaders were ordered to prepare their forces quickly to exploit the U.S. bombing, march into Damascus, and remove the Bashar al-Assad government

The Qatari and Turkish intelligence officials assured the Syrian regional commanders that they would be provided with plenty of weapons for the coming offensive. And they were. A weapons distribution operation unprecedented in scope began in all opposition camps on August 21-23. The weapons were distributed from storehouses controlled by Qatari and Turkish intelligence under the tight supervision of U.S. intelligence officers.

Cui bono?

That the various groups trying to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have ample incentive to get the U.S. more deeply involved in support of that effort is clear. Until now, it has not been quite as clear that the Netanyahu government in Israel has equally powerful incentive to get Washington more deeply engaged in yet another war in the area. But with outspoken urging coming from Israel and those Americans who lobby for Israeli interests, this priority Israeli objective is becoming crystal clear.

Reporter Judi Rudoren, writing from Jerusalem in an important article in Friday’s New York Times addresses Israeli motivation in an uncommonly candid way. Her article, titled “Israel Backs Limited Strike Against Syria,” notes that the Israelis have argued, quietly, that the best outcome for Syria’s two-and-a-half-year-old civil war, at least for the moment, is no outcome. Rudoren continues:

“For Jerusalem, the status quo, horrific as it may be from a humanitarian perspective, seems preferable to either a victory by Mr. Assad’s government and his Iranian backers or a strengthening of rebel groups, increasingly dominated by Sunni jihadis.

“‘This is a playoff situation in which you need both teams to lose, but at least you don’t want one to win, we’ll settle for a tie,’ said Alon Pinkas, a former Israeli consul general in New York. ‘Let them both bleed, hemorrhage to death: that’s the strategic thinking here. As long as this lingers, there’s no real threat from Syria.’”

We think this is the way Israel’s current leaders look at the situation in Syria, and that deeper U.S. involvement albeit, initially, by “limited” military strikes is likely to ensure that there is no early resolution of the conflict in Syria. The longer Sunni and Shia are at each other’s throats in Syria and in the wider region, the safer Israel calculates that it is.

That Syria’s main ally is Iran, with whom it has a mutual defense treaty, also plays a role in Israeli calculations. Iran’s leaders are not likely to be able to have much military impact in Syria, and Israel can highlight that as an embarrassment for Tehran.

Iran’s Role

Iran can readily be blamed by association and charged with all manner of provocation, real and imagined. Some have seen Israel’s hand in the provenance of the most damaging charges against Assad regarding chemical weapons and our experience suggests to us that such is supremely possible.

Possible also is a false-flag attack by an interested party resulting in the sinking or damaging, say, of one of the five U.S. destroyers now on patrol just west of Syria. Our mainstream media could be counted on to milk that for all it’s worth, and you would find yourself under still more pressure to widen U.S. military involvement in Syria and perhaps beyond, against Iran.

Iran has joined those who blame the Syrian rebels for the August 21 chemical incident, and has been quick to warn the U.S. not to get more deeply involved. According to the Iranian English-channel Press TV, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javid Zarif has claimed: “The Syria crisis is a trap set by Zionist pressure groups for [the United States].”

Actually, he may be not far off the mark. But we think your advisers may be chary of entertaining this notion. Thus, we see as our continuing responsibility to try to get word to you so as to ensure that you and other decision makers are given the full picture.

Inevitable Retaliation

We hope your advisers have warned you that retaliation for attacks on Syrian are not a matter of IF, but rather WHERE and WHEN. Retaliation is inevitable. For example, terrorist strikes on U.S. embassies and other installations are likely to make what happened to the U.S. “Mission” in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, look like a minor dust-up by comparison. One of us addressed this key consideration directly a week ago in an article titled “Possible Consequences of a U.S. Military Attack on Syria Remembering the U.S. Marine Barracks Destruction in Beirut, 1983.”

The Russian institute Middle East is indeed argues that if the West wanted to settle the Syrian issue, the simpler you had to do was to go to direct bombing ” Doha , Riyadh and Ankara ” kath’oti these are the primary financing Islamist insurgents and caused this disaster in Syria.

In an interview RBTH president of the Institute for Middle East, Yevgeny Satanofski said that the most effective way to resolve the Syrian crisis is ” to bomb the Doha El Riyadh and Ankara “, which are sponsoring terrorists .

Considers that the chemical attack on 21 August was pure provocation , staged by the U.S. , and Assad wins, and had no reason to commit , especially when totally ” random ” UN inspectors were at that time in the territory of Syria .

Dispels any doubt that the war was for democracy , simply because the Islamists never fighting for freedom, but for the genocide of others.

Considers that the war was because of fanatical Sunni bloc in the Gulf , who propsathoun create a new Caliphate !

Proves that the allegations of “bad” Russia supports Assad because he has a naval base in Tartus are unsubstantiated after going on a single mooring supply , which can be found either in Cyprus or in Haifa Israel.

It highlights the fact that there is Russia illegal but the U.S. and their supporters as they who pravlepoun international law by ignoring the Security Council , and that two permanent members (Russia, China) Assunta veto a planned attack on western Syria.

Notes that Russia refuses to support terrorists something which makes the West due interests concludes Yevgeny Satanofski .

    Below is the interview:

Q: Why Russia is opposed to U.S. military intervention in Syria ?

AP : Russia considers at best silly – the intent of the U.S. , and at worst as a provocation , since the use of chemical weapons connected with the efforts of dissidents to cause an attack against Assad .

The army had no need , given the presence of UN inspectors in Damascus , to use chemical weapons , the moment anyway winning the civil war. For Assad is a political suicide. For the opposition but losing the war, the return is the only hope , as it is able to beat its own merits , and despite the support of jihadist terrorists from around the world.

    War and Democracy

Q : So , there stands the claim that this is a civil order to prevail democracy?

A: No war in the Middle East has not done, not done, nor will be for democracy. The wars there made by Islamists against secular authoritarian regimes of the entire Islamic world against Israel , or against Sunnis and Shiites from Sunnis against Shiites .

Overthrow of Assad democracy means , but genocide of Christians , Shia ( Alawite , Tzafariton , Ishmaelites Druze , etc. ) and ethnic minorities, including Turkmen and Kurds.

Q: Where do you see that is the cause of conflict?

A: In the aggressive policy of the Islamic Sunni bloc , namely Turkey, the two monarchies ouachavitikon Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and especially the Arab world that attempts to create a new caliphate . Doha and El Riyadh have another reason to attack Assad and he is the last alliance with Shiite Iran.

Plus, the Alawites who rule Syria , according to the perceptions of Ouachaviton mullahs are heretics , and so it must be overthrown and exterminated .

Q: It is a widespread view that Russia is against U.S. intervention because he wants to continue to supply weapons to Assad and maintain its naval base in Syria.

A: This is nonsense . Russia has not , nor has ever naval base in Syria , it’s just a point of supply and technical support to Tartous . These two floating docks and a building occupied by a total of one and a half hectares.

There kept water and fuel , and installed a team of technicians . If the Russian ships stop arriving in Syria , then you go to refuel in Limassol, Cyprus and Haifa, Israel , as they have never done in the past .

The Russian view is that the invasion of Syria is unacceptable , as unacceptable were the cases of Libya , Iraq and Yugoslavia . Regarding Libya , the Russia he had agreed with the proposals of the West, believing that they do not predict invasion , but proved that was duped . This will not allow it again.

Q: The deteriorating situation in Syria and the acute situation in the Middle East cause the increase in oil prices . In Russia there is criticism that it seeks to resolve the conflict in the region, as such a situation is favorable for the same. What is your opinion on this?

A: The crisis in stoking Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, and benefit . The first two , including as a result of rising oil and gas. Turkey , due to geopolitical ambitions.

Russia does not incite conflicts in the Middle East. But it will, and there to help terrorists, which is supported by the West. For Russia these people are enemies . Why the U.S., France and Britain supported Turkey , Saudi Arabia and Qatar , which are the main sponsors of Islamic terrorists , is indeed a question . The likely answer to this is the interests of the leaders of these countries, who act in the name of their staff temporary profit.

Q: Most foreigners consider today that Russia deliberately delaying the decision at the UN on the issue of Syria.

A: Russia has its own position on Syria . And this position coincides with the position of China. In the UN Security Council are five countries that have the right to veto . The three are in favor of the attack both against.

If the Russian and Chinese position taken , then no question. If not, then the problem is not created by Russia. Regarding quick fixes , there’s nothing more foolish than the destruction of a country’s stability for the benefit of Islamic terrorists , regardless of how wealthy their sponsors , who organized the civil war in Syria. The fastest and most effective solution to stop, is bombarded Doha , El Riyadh and Ankara . !

Q: What is the way out of the situation that has developed ?

A: The immediate suspension of funding the rebels and procured with guns. The termination of recruitment from around the Islamic world , which was conducted by the El Doha and Riyadh.

Clearing the bases of terrorists on the territory of Turkey and Jordan. Negotiations with those who are willing with Assad and with the central government in Damascus to rebuild Syria.

Anything else will lead to the collapse of Syria, the Alawite genocide and other Shias in the extermination of Christians in war the Kurds and Druze in Syria with Arab Sunnis and turn Syria into a new Lebanon, a civil war between communities that will last decades.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS OBAMA?

What we all suspect that happens Complaint letter – catapult , the Orthodox residents of the Syrian city Maaloula which accepts relentless attacks by the ” democratic ” Islamist rebels , and sent it to the same U.S. Congress , which will vote on whether the U.S. armed forces will flatten Syria helping the forces of Al Qaeda to prevail , and to impose a reign of terror .

The letter is touching , residents denounce international plot to assassinate the Greek Orthodox , and Christianity in general. They state the obvious, that immediately after the bombing , a damaged Syria, where the weakened army would not be able to protect them will be put automatically into the hands of Islamists , with specification of dying horribly , and kill .

And yet the letter sent to parliament a ” Christian ” country, which supposedly considers Al Qaeda greatest enemy and is available to support them until the end, and simultaneously invested greatly to the destruction of the ancient cradle of Christianity. Recall that the U.S. stance was supportive and the Islamists in Egypt , as in kathairethenta President Morsi.I America ‘s effort to pretend not to know what happens to the Christians of the Middle East , makes it suspicious that they want a Greek Orthodox populations in these areas, because turning to Russia, which since repudiated the communist atheism , has undertaken the representation and protection of Orthodoxy.

For this reason, and the effort can be observed in our country, devaluation of the Orthodox Church ( with which mistakes ), so the Greeks are more easily sympathetic alien to American culture (God make her culture ) . Recall that the Orthodox Christians persecuted almost everywhere at the moment , do not forget the recent events in Premeti Albania.

Open Letter addressed by residents Maaloula to members of the U.S. Congress on 09/05/13 , in an ultimate attempt to sensitize the minds of Americans. This text was originally published in Arabic Al-tayyar and well in francophone media (mondialisation.ca, etc.) :

” At 04.00 in the morning hour 05/09/3 Damascus , armed gangs of so-called Free Syrian Army terrorists Jabhat al-Nosra and criminals of the Islamic Caliphate of Iraq and M.East attacked our city that lies peacefully in term Qalamoun and started looting the monasteries and churches, encroaching images of historical value and required residents to convert to Islam.

Yes , it happened in the early hours in our little town at Maaloula . The armed gangs proliferated everywhere displaying their firearms and prohibiting access to any sacred space .

These criminal acts , the systematic looting of Christian cities and terrorize the population are part of an international project that aims to displacement of Christians from their homelands and their roots. These live and let our state still powerful. What will happen when this has weakened after U.S. forces would have bombed us ?

What awaits the Christian villages and towns just fall into the hands of the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nosra and the like are just scary …

We can still hope that all the terrible attacks of monasteries , churches and the general Christian population will be able to awaken even a minimum the conscience of the world to admit the crime of international terrorism against Syria ?

I will not mention the many slaughters all those you call ‘minorities’ and who lived in towns and villages , because you know them in detail ! ‘.

In an article by D. Porfiris / P. Stafyla is gathered below gegoota the last days in the troubled Christian city .

The attack was carried out by the continuous pounding and massive attack waged on 05/09/13 Al Nousra and men FSA after the capture of the city , numbering 3,000 to 5,000 residents who are mostly Orthodox Christians (Lastampa). ” Such was the ferocity of the attack that the stones and rocks trembled ,” said nun from the Greek Orthodox monastery of St. Thecla . ” We do not know if the rebels fled or not no one dares to go out ,” said the AP itself which it contacted maintaining anonymity tis.I National post 06/09/13 convey that the nun said that about 100 villagers fled for protection to the monastery . The Lastampa records that the 27 abandoned and orphaned children living under the care of the monks led the sisters in basements to be afraid .

This terrorism experienced by the Christians of Syria, who would become unprecedented genocide, with the help and blessings of the U.S., that will not only whistling casually , but will also assist the Islamists in their work. History will judge them severely , but until then , thousands of people will pay for this crime .

Is Syria a Trap? From the ist of expert given above I would certantly check. Even without Retribution or Revenge, a war provocative False Flag incident like the USS Liberty is sure to happen. It now appears that Obama was pushed into this by neo con like Mc Cain and etc.looking for a continuation of the Bush war, so beautifully dscribed by Pat Buchanah as “how many more Nations do you want us to take out for you” Netanhahu?? Based on the Iraq, Iran experience, did Obama decide to play along and expose the Game to the People
judgment, how corruptive has been and is the Neo Con infiltration and control of our decision making process and operations. Note the repetition of the word “his own people”, same as Bush. But, there is more to that than the emotional appeal. Action make precedents so the are making sure the issue will not aplly to other planned actions. After all Israel would surely not gas its own people BUT those Palestinians they call parassite to be sent into the Sahara, would you bet on their security?
Yes, any one using WMD, including Gas of any kind, should be removed from any position that would allow a repeat, but let us use other words and means and while historically the Assad Family and tribe is perfectly capable of using Gas to stay in power, this should not give cover to other who might have done that. How about those who sell those weapons? N.Korae would love the extra business. So, punishment is required but what we are offered is very murky and full of holes, as to intention and implementation. It is not this President Instinct to rush to judgment. So, who is leading? Lets look at that secret agreement we made with Israel and regulalry upgraded by Congress Neo Con and Lobby, like Sen Graham presented recently.

I’m sure Obama knows exactly what is going on. He is in the corner and no matter what he will do, the outcome for him personally will not be good. Maybe the best would be drastic measures to at least make him look like the good guy getting him sympathy from the American People. One measure: Fire Kerry and all the snakes that try to convince him that war is the sollution for America’s problems. Force through the United Nations Resolutions on Israel to get back to its borders before 1967. Put pressure on the Saudi Regime to change from medieval to modern state, abdication of King and democratic elections. This would be a country that really needs Regime Change!

    Dear Sirs,
from beginning the present US Government was the Government representing the “Soft Power Fraction” (an Orwellian name, since they´re also not shy to strangulate whole national economies) of the US Power Elite. Their concept follows Zbigniew BrzeziÅ„ski´s concept of including part of the Islamic world into the encircleing of Russia and China. But the Neocons (themselves driven by the blackmail power of Israel´s Power Elite) is systematically smashing the concept, The Neocons´ own concept is to get the Islamic world “under their boot” first: http://wipokuli.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/us-power-elite-at-war-among-themselves/

Even if every member of congress were to support war, the action would still be illegitimate, as Nobel Peace Laureat Adolfo Pérez Esquivel so eloquently said,
      and I quote
“No Congressperson of the United States can legitimize what cannot be legitimate, nor legalize what cannot be legal.”

and he said further, words that everyone should ponder deeply, “Obama, your country does not have the moral authority, the legitimacy, nor the legal base to invade Syria or any other country. ” (http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article36138.htm)

      Need one say anymore.

Thank goodness for the VIPS – it has given me hope that the USA do indeed still have some moral fibre somewhere !

US does have decent honest people in government, its just been overpowered in recent years (50) by secret domestic 3rd party powers protecting their own interests. we just need a momentum of change to happen, more brave people to stand up, almost a secret civil war in some respects.

With the United States threatening to attack Syria, U.S. and allied intelligence services are still trying to work out who ordered the poison gas attack on rebel-held neighborhoods near Damascus.

“No direct link to President Bashar al-Assad or his inner circle has been publicly demonstrated, and some U.S. sources say intelligence experts are not sure whether the Syrian leader knew of the attack before it was launched or was only informed about it afterward.

While U.S. officials say Assad is responsible for the chemical weapons strike even if he did not directly order it, they have not been able to fully describe a chain of command for the August 21 attack in the Ghouta area east of the Syrian capital.

It is one of the biggest gaps in U.S. understanding of the incident, even as Congress debates whether to launch limited strikes on Assad’s forces in retaliation. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/07/us-syria-crisis-attack-idUSBRE98603A20130907

Alan Grayson in the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/07/opinion/on-syria-vote-trust-but-verify.html
THE documentary record regarding an attack on Syria consists of just two papers: a four-page unclassified summary and a 12-page classified summary. The first enumerates only the evidence in favor of an attack. I’m not allowed to tell you what’s in the classified summary, but you can draw your own conclusion.

On Thursday I asked the House Intelligence Committee staff whether there was any other documentation available, classified or unclassified. Their answer was “no.”

Unfortunately, Curt is correct – there is no compelling evidence (and certainly not here) of who used chemical weapons on August 21st, although there is no doubt it was used. That many Israelis want a non-stop war, or that Iran sends warnings, or even that the American people have been duped in the past is not evidence that the regime didn’t use weapons. What we do have evidence of is that the Syrian regime has no problem killing its people en masse, and that until now the international community has stood by and done very little. Regardless of the question of chemical weapons, the time for complacency is over. What to do in response is another issue.

Oh, Puleeeeeze! This sounds like the Goldilocks argument. We killed 3.5 million in North Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia with Napalm, agent orange and carpet bombing. The Rwandans killed 800,000 in a genocide. That was “too big”. The Israelis killed 17,000 in Lebanon in 1982 and 1,300 in Gaza during “Operation Cast Lead”. That was “too small”. But now that 100,000 have died in Syria, that’s “juuuuust riiiiight”. Which government agency, NGO or think tank do you work for?

  24. Curt Carpenter
    September 7, 2013 at 11:04

The “VIPS” seem to be just as short of compelling evidence as the government, so this can all be written off as still more speculation — lots of heat, no light.

That said, the US will get no thanks for taking action in Syria, but might give an object lesson in representative democracy by accepting a “no” vote from congress if it comes to that. The media will move on to the next act in the circus, and the civil war will drag on — offering plenty of opportunities to take this whole matter up again, perhaps when the number of gassed civilians crosses the 14,290 threshold.

Everyone should ask themselves and politicians why is the USA so keen to attack Syria and Assad. Why would the USA want to aid and assist rebels who for the most part are not even Syrian. Who is funding the rebels and why? What is so important about Syria ? Why have the atrocities in other countries been ignored. The picture emerging is one of subterfuge and lies. How can Christian Americans even think about aiding rebels who are intent on killing Christians in Syria? All of this stinks as a plan that has not panned out as at it was thought it would, because Assad has proved he is not going to bow down to the west

Regardless of who actually used the sarin, and I agree there is a strong argument it was the “rebels” that did it ffor the reasons stated, this has NOTHING to do with the US and/or National Security. If anything a US attack will begin a cascade of follow-on consequences one of which will be the closure of the Straights of Hormuz and complete embargo of oil. Othe possibilities woudl be a disasterous and overwhelming attack on Israel and then the unleashing of state-sponsored terrorism. None of this would be beneficial to the US and all are extremely likely so frankly, this is a good time to sit one out. Let the UN deal with this. If the Arab nations in the region want to deal with this diirectly let them but not using the US as a mercenary force.

A successful “palace coup” is the one in which the king remains on the throne until his loyal subjects are convinced that he, and not the plotters, are responsible for the ensuing debacle. The most successful “palace coup” is the one in which the king is the last to know he has been betrayed. He may even defend his betrayers to the last, insuring their ability to fade way, taking only the spoils and none of the blame. His resolve to ignore his loyal advisors becomes ever more resolute as the plot unfolds, and this ultimately assures his own demise.

Good and important observations. When John Kerry concludes that the chemical attack “killed at least 1,429 Syrians, 426 of them children,” I smell propaganda.
It is a common trick in fraudulent science to imply spurious accuracy by giving figures more specific than the evidence shows. Doctors without Borders gave estimates in the hundreds. Maybe one could have evidence to suggest as many as one thousand, but the likelihood would be that the estimate would be plus/minus a hundred or so. To give a figure of 1,429 suggests that the evidence is accurate to within about 10 or less, giving a range of 1419 to 1439 at the outside. It seems unlikely that the evidence could be that accurate, so the way the numbers are presented suggests a spurious degree of accuracy, designed to deceive an audience.

If we don’t, the FSA continues to bleed Syria and Iran remains the distraction from Israeli WMD’s, aggression, expansion, corruption of US Government, official racism, and ethnic-cleansing. You gotta hand it to a lobby group that can control the discussion so well that every possible outcome favors their position. Excellent. Thank you VIPS. We need more people like you, who have served on the inside, to challenge the relentless war mongering that has dominated our foreign policy for decades. Who benefits?

    • SW
      September 14, 2013 at 23:55

I believe that there are several reasons why the warmongers amongst us would love to be involved in a new war with Syria. First off someone said “follow the money” and that is true to the core. Always follow the money first. Who serves to benefit financially from the US being involved in another war? The military industrial complex. Those “defense” contractors who make lots of money from people killing each other on a large scale. Also – US multinational corporations namely oil companies would love to get their hands on Iranian oil and since Syria used to be one of Iran’s staunchest supporters, they would no longer be in any position to help defend their borders. That is the real reason Syria had a revolution take place. The Arab spring toppled longstanding leaders who resisted the US’s attempts to take over their natural resources (usually large amounts of oil) If multinational corporations cannot convince the leader of a country to cooperate with their political/financial goals, they stage a coup or they assassinate that leader. Check out “Confessions of an Economic Hitman” by John Perkins. That explains alot. Also a war with Syria involving the US would benefit Israel in several ways. Israel would also love to obliterate anyone that poses ANY threat to their existence (no matter how minute that threat may be) and Iran and Syria both would much rather Israel did not exist. They are extremely unhappy (as they should be) about Israel’s horrible treatment of the Palestinians on their own land. As soon as I heard about this chemical weapon attack, I immediately suspected our own little CIA. They have used false flag attacks time after time. Bay of Tonkin “attack”, 9/11 (see “Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth”) Boston bombing, (the FBI had been talking to these two young men for 5 years prior to this false flag attack) The CIA is good at this kind of thing. It’s almost second nature for them.

  35. madadam
    September 6, 2013 at 20:01

Dale Gavlak, writing for Mint Press News, said essentially the same thing, about a possible source for the chemical attacks. The major difference in the stories were that he assigned the blame to Saudi agents supplying materials to poorly trained amateurs and that accident, rather than deliberate act lay behind the release of the toxic chemicals. We should give the UN inspectors more time to do their job. In the mean time, it would be nice if Mr’s Kerry and Mc Cain could stop trying to convince us that they know what happened there. (Or at least learn the semantic difference between what and who.)

Make no mistake if a US military action against Syria takes place however justified as an emblematic, limited or punishing strike, then a state of war will exist between Syria, its allies and the USA and its allies. Remember now that Russia is a great power, a direct regional interest and long time ally of Syria. The point is there is no international standard for punishing a country other than a high seas naval blockade which uses the weapons of war.

If President Obama is not allowed to use the fabricated pretext of the August 21st Damascus “chemical” event in order justify and initiate a fully involved shooting war against Syria, then the USA will have to rely upon the Israeli’s to fabricate a false-flag causus belli with an apparent Syrian attack on a US naval vessel in order to deliver US mainstream media acceptable war justification.

In the 1967 Israeli six day war, the Israeli’s created just such a false flag justification for direct US involvement against Egypt and its Soviet ally. The Israeli’s attacked the USS Liberty (a US Navy spy ship with an enormous distinctive dish antenna) in international waters off Gaza with the intention of sinking the ship and killing any survivors. The intended false flag assumption was that the Egyptians or Soviets had done it, thereby justifying direct US nuclear armed involvement on behalf of Israel in the 6 day war.

The false flag initiative came apart at its NSA seams because as a result of the Israeli attacks on Egypt only hours before attacking the Liberty, there were no remaining operational Soviet or Egyptian aircraft in the region capable of sinking the USS Liberty.

The willingness of US presidents to sacrifice military personnel and innocent civilians for Israel’s security is absolutely boundless. Nothing is more dear to US presidents than their debts to Israel for electoral support. And nothing more compelling than waking up with an Israeli horse head in your bed. M\\

The President is getting egg on his face from the American public, but since he is their servant, and they’re not his, that’s the way it is supposed to be if he tries to ram through programs or actions which they clearly oppose. It’s the same with these wars, and the NSA disclosures which he has tried to hide, dissemble, or otherwise misrepresent, while seeking to punish those (e.g., Manning, Snowden, et al) who have told the truth about it. The bottom line is he is supposed to be the people’s President. So, if he wants prestige and power, he must also learn to listen. Or is there evidence that the photos of the victims are from many different places in Damascus? Then why does it appear that the UN inspectors were trying to focus on one site of an attack? Maybe that impression is wrong.

Yossef Bodansky’s sources reveal that on August 13 and 14, there was a high-level meeting in Turkey that included the al-Qaeda Syrian rebels, along with U.S., Turkish, and Qatari officials, in which the Obama regime planned a bombing campaign after a “war-changing” moment that was set to occur within days.

This “war changing” moment, of course turned out to be the gassing of 1429 people, including hundreds of children, to be blamed on Bashar al-Assad.

The plan, according to Bodansky—before public opinion stopped Obama’s illegal war in its tracks—was for the U.S. to engage in a massive bombing campaign beginning August 29. While Obama was bombing Syria into oblivion, the Syrian rebels were to take over al-Assad’s strongholds, bolstered with a huge influx of weapons.

According to Bodansky, a staggering 1000 tons of weapons were distributed to the Syrian rebels in the hours after the false flag chemical weapons attack on August 21, including thousands of shoulder-fired missiles, capable of taking down a commercial airliner.

And who was organizing this massive weapons distribution, according to Bodansky’s sources? Our own CIA.

Did Barack Obama, the leader of the free world, in fact order the murder of hundreds of innocents in order to draw us into a war with Syria, which more than likely would be the beginning of World War III?

          It appears that way.

It was revealed through a huge document dump from a hacker based in Malaysia that the UK-based defense contractor Britam—really a black ops front—was approached about transferring chemicals weapons to the Syrian rebels, as part of a plot to blame Assad after a chemical weapons attack. The Russians, after the attack, were to be blamed for delivering the chemical weapons, with faked videos of Russians delivering the cargo.

The plan was “approved by Washington” per revealed documents. Yes, that means Barack Obama was in on it.

Among the hacked Britam documents were copies of passports of the mercenaries who planned on making the chemical weapons transfer to the rebels, along with an email between Britam director David Goulding and the company’s founder, Philip Doughty.

          According to the email:

Phil, We’ve got a new offer. It’s about Syria again. Qataris propose an attractive deal and swear that the idea is approved by Washington. We’ll have to deliver a CW [chemical weapon] to Homs [city in western Syria], a Soviet origin g-shell [gas shell] from Libya similar to those that Assad should have. They want us to deploy our Ukrainian personnel that should speak Russian and make a video record. Frankly, I don’t think it’s a good idea but the sums proposed are enormous. Your opinion? Kind regards, David.

If all of this is true—and every day more evidence comes to light substantiating it—Barack Hussein Obama conspired to murder hundreds of innocents, including children, in order to draw the United States into a war with Syria, and eventually Russia, China and Iran. That Barack Hussein Obama is working with the enemy—al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that murdered thousands of Americans on 9/11. That Barack Hussein Obama is a traitor to the United States.
