WATCH: CN Live! — Saving Assange, Saving US Face

Will Julian Assange be released in two months, as an Australian Broadcasting Corporation senior correspondent has predicted? CN Live! asks Greg Barns SC, an Assange campaign counsel for 11 years, and former Australian Senator Christine Milne at noon EST Monday.

As Julian Assange awaits a decision by the High Court in London whether it will accept his appeal against the home secretary’s decision to extradite him to the United States, the focus of the story has shifted here to his native Australia, where the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, has said for the first time that he has discussed with the United States bringing Assange’s ordeal to a close.

A prominent television journalist here, John Lyons, of the Australian Broadcasting Corp., shortly afterward said he understood that Assange would be back home in Australia within two months.

CN Live! traveled to Hobart, the capital of the state of Tasmania, to discuss the latest developments in the Assange case with Christine Milne, a former Senator in the federal parliament and head of the Australian Green Party, who has been a vocal advocate for the imprisoned WikiLeaks publisher. And with Greg Barns, a senior counsel and advisor to the Assange campaign. Interviewer: Joe Lauria. Producer: Cathy Vogan.

If anything points out the absolute corrupt insanity of total power by the authoritarian mind it is the Assange travesty. I don’t see any benefit of these actions, the down side being the authoritarians telegraphing their penchant for handing out torture and pain to the innocent.

Because the U.S. security community and many other foreign entities so aligned, were embarrassed and fearful they went all-in to persecute Julian. When a simple prosecution would have resulted in revealing his right to act as he did. The reason for their overreach being he had shown total affront to them by going where no one else had dared go before. Outraged, because of fear and perceived insult from the man, he had to be done away with, no matter what it took. Actually a very unbelievable over reaction that exposed their short comings even further.

Again a revelation of just how far these madmen would go to make themselves feel “whole again” after they mentally perceived his acts as being some unforgivable “personal attacks ” on their authority. They had the power, . . . “how dare he conduct himself in this manner? “. . . . So in order to intimidate they created “federal case” out of his actions. Actions of powerful, greedy, foolish men displaying their insecurity and outrage in the process.

President Biden, we all know “no one fucks with a Biden”, however the republicans seem to being doing some of that “fucking”quite well at present. I have a great idea, offer some proof that you may still have some compassion for your fellow man and FREE Julian.

Currently an action such as this might get GOD back on your side, even if it’s for a short while. You have to admit you do find yourself ” in quite the fix ” at present.

    Thanks CN

Awh, Joe Lauria, Ms. Milne, Mr. Barnes, Ms. Vogan, Consortium News, you know, “We the People” need badly, some bright light in this cold, creepy darkness. Thank you. Seriously, razor perceptions that cut just a little bit too deep. Hence, the universal skepticism; and, TRUST, in the “Powers that Be” to do what they’ve f/resisted to do for f/YEARS, FREE, Julian Assange, is GONE!!!

Indeed, it’s f/crucial that we’re mindful of the nature of the regime we’re dealing with, i.e., The Divided $tates of Corporate America “makes the rules. The rest of the world must do as it is told.”

“DEMS da breaks,” the RBO-Rules Based Order; &, the RBIO, Rules Based-International-Order.

It’s NOT, The Kremlin who’s got their dirty, grubby, bloody claws in Julian Assange, i.e., The Espionage Act charges against Assange were originally brought by Ohbama’s Successor/Assassin-N-Chief, DJTrump & his Board of Executioners, Pence, Pompeo, Bolton, et al. AND, BIDEN-HARRIS are down w/carrying on where DJTrump left off, w/Crimes Against Humanity.

“All around the world, France and Scandinavia. Candle light vigils. Protestin’ the behaviors. It’s animal behavior.” (Pigs, Sheep and Wolves-Paul Simon ) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tUcA2ij_piU

Despite the pleas & protests, BIDEN-HARRIS, their Board of Executioners, & the U.S. $tate Dept., i.e., Blinken, POMPEO, Bolton, Klain, Sullivan, Price, Garland, Austin, et al., protect themselves:

    1. Per threats from IRAN, the US State Dept., $hells out $2 MILLION “Big One$” monthly, for 24/7 security detail for POMPEO & HOOK (Pompeo’s former Aide).
    2. Between August, 2021 & February, 2022, $13.1 MILLION Taxpayers’ monies paid to cover POMPEO’s/HOOK’s Ass from IRAN, per Trump’s “Maximim Pressure” campaign, Sanctions against Iran AFTER Trump withdrew fm the IRAN deal, in 2018.
    3. “After leaving office,” POMPEO was gifted 180 days of “protection.”
    4. Per BIDEN’S-HARRIS’ Antony BLINKEN, “the TRUMP official has faced a serious and credible threat from a foreign power or an agent of a foreign power arising from his duties…while employed by the department.” (Antony F/Blinken)
    5. The “Agency/Dept.,” extended Pompeo’s & Hook’s $ecurity Detail w/60-Day provisions. PAID In FULL! AND, $till being Paid For, by you & me, the Divided $tates of Corporate America’s TAXPAYERS.
    6. “The government has made clear the inquiry’s aim is to protect the guilty, not to bring them to justice.”

“You know it ain’t easy. You know how hard it can be. The way things are going. They’re going to crucify me.” (The Ballad of ________)

    – “Your letters, they all say that you’re beside me, now. Then, why do I feel, alone? I’m standing on a ledge and your fine spider web, is fastening my ankle to a stone”.

Concluding, IF, the Big 5 Papers’ Powers That Be, CAN effect the END of the persecution, extradition, freedom of Julian Assange; &, BEGIN the prosecution of the Men & Women who should be held to account, “The Big 5” need to show the flock up!!! How about executing, A media blitz on The Power of The Press’ Freedom to “End the Persecution of & Stop the Extradition of JULIAN ASSANGE outta the UK into the custody of The USG.”

The Universe knows, “Julian Assange did NOTHING wrong. SAVE, JULIAN ASSANGE!!! Onward & Upwards. “Keep it Lit.”

Day of action for Julian Assange 19th March – the 20th anniversary of the US led invasion of Iraq. Let’s embarass the empire again. Remind the world of the disaster wreaked by the invasion based on lies and demand Julian’s freedom! Find your local free Assange group and get an action going.

How did the German Green Party of Germany become the War Party?

    • Common Sense
      January 18, 2023 at 16:43

Power and money made and makes them go insane.

At latest since they also pushed for war in Yugoslavia at the time, being part of the German government then. They are not green anyway since decades already. Just a green “coat” ;)

Many people do not have the needed character skills to deal with power and lots of money responsibly.

This can even be observed on very low levels in every day life.

      A main human weakness.

I also posted the following beneath the YouTube Video and beneath my article, “Video discussion: How the 2014 Minsk peace agreement was used to make time for the defeated Ukrainian army to re-build” (11/1/2023) at hxxps://candobetter.net/james-sinnamon/blog/6537/video-discussion-how-2014-minsk-peace-agreement-was-used-make-time-defeated#comment-253963

A country allied with the US has a Green Foreign Minister?!

Thank you, Joe Lauria, for raising the issue of Greens Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto with Christine Milne.

Even though the required number of signatures were collected to put NATO membership to a referendum, the Swedish Parliament, presumably, including Greens Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, refused to hold the referendum. Without consulting the people of Finland, they abandoned Finland’s past neutrality and made Finland an ally of the United States, the country which has killed an estimated 20 million people since 1945 (hxxps://www.globalresearch.ca/u-s-regime-has-killed-20-30-million-people-since-world-war-ii/5633111). The Finnish government, like the similarly corrupt governments of Germany, Sweden, France, the UK and nearly every other European nation, are also allied with US puppet Ukrainian President Zelensky (elected in 2019 as the supposed ‘peace’ candidate with 70% of the vote) and his nazi Azov Battalions against the people of Ukraine, Russia and the rest of humanity.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande who have both bragged about the 2014 Minks Accords supposed peace agreement was only to make time for the defeated Ukrainian military to rebuild with US money, equipment and ‘advisors’ in order to re-launch their war against Russian speaking Ukrainians and Russia.

Merkel and Hollande have the blood of tens of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians on their hands. It is with such people that the Greens Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto also wants Finland to form a military alliance with.

In the first sentence of the fourth paragraph above, I mistakenly referred to the “Swedish Parliament” when I meant to write the “Finnish Parliament.” My apologies.

Of course, much which I wrote about the Finnish government also applies to the United States’ vassal rulers of Sweden, which, as we all know, fabricated charges of sexual assault against Julian Assange as a pretext to have him extradited there and thence to the United States.

You don’t get to negotiate with power after you have submitted. Power notices that you have surrendered. Power knows that there is no reason to compromise – post facto. There is nothing that Albanese (leader of our willing, bi-partisan supplication to global power) will do that could incline the USA to yield now. Power does not yield, and it will never yield after it has proven that it has the upper hand. Rudd will do what the boss says.

Mikael. You are correct. Australia is a sycophantic, pathetic (so called) nation of no consequence. We talk about punching above our weight when we cannot lift a paper envelope. We lie to ourselves and entirely ignore the obvious. Australia is a total joke and a willing servant to the US. We are not and never have been an independent nation in any true sense of the word.

Correct. However we do have leverage and that leverage should be applied and should have been applied before signing the AUKUS pact. Australia could have stopped this but did not.

True but our so called self annointed “leaders” are overwhelmed in the presence of their counterparts in the US. they go to water and only think of headlines and the next election. I think it is called lack of guts.

Thank you soo much for this piece! The rest of the media pretty much only “covers” but doesn’t investigate
Your interview with Milne – it was very revealing, especially the part about how Wikileaks, if i got this right, revealed the dirty dealings of Gillard – and the word “revenge” was spoken in terms of her “failure” to even attempt to repatriate him.
And then you brought up how Biden as VP agreed with non-prosecution, as a “free speech” “freedom of the press” issue – it was only after the release of the Vault 7 and DNC e-mail files that prosecution was sought – and to sidestep the Free Speech issue, the charges of espionage were brought …
I have long thought that with the DNC in the US, it is an issue of revenge on behalf of Clinton, just as it was with Gillard in Australia – (hell hath no fury like the wrath of a woman scorned) – Biden is a creature of the DNC, going back to at least the advent of the New Democrats in the 90’s under B Clinton – the espionage charges are BS but they make prosecution of Assange possible, which is just fine with Biden …
They do want him dead – the longer the Brits keep him in Belmarsh, the more likely he will die there, and that is just fine with the US – “oops, too bad, we wanted to try him but he died in Britain, hey not our fault”

This is a great piece and I hope to see more :D

Tnx 2 CN … Continued truthful reporting Tragic US Govt Overreach… & tnx 2 SH 4 Vault 7 mention… Spoton Analysis!
Appx 30 Min in the discussion darkens… given naval purchase agreements… G’day mate 4 Julian’s prospects of diplomatic mercy. Seems Australia choosing 2 play Military Vassal.
Then, as Ms. Milne brought up Free Speech, couldn’t help equating our govt’s contempt 4 that of a Foreign National w/ localUS Jurisdiction’s “Permit to Assemble” attack on our First Amendment.

Well what to say? So many opinions and so much information. Thankyou Mr. Lauria and CN crew. I made notes as I watched the presentation/video, but I am hard pressed now to decide which is the correct and realistic reasons behind Julian Assanges’s persecution and why it has gone on for so long. The notes I made now swirl in my head: evangelical christians – Pompeo/Scott Morrison; revenge; campaigns to get journalists freed; saves face; Australia doing what US wants; hero worship of the US; torture; fragility of freedom of speech.
The combination of all these things/reasons ultimately adds up to nothing more than the fear, paranoia and hubris of modern society, msm and governments. But the last question you asked of Mr. Barnes, I believe should have been answered with a resounding “NO”.

J’espère du fond du cœur que Julian Assange va enfin être libéré, et qu’il sera mis fin à une détention injustifiée qui est et aura été une torture pour Julian, et un crime insupportable pour tous ceux qui aiment quelque peu la justice et la vérité.
