The parallels are so arresting in terms of the repressive means both legal and political employed by the state to discredit and remove a person(s) and organisation that threatens the interests of an economic and political class and exposes the lies and fabrications that legitimise their exercise of power. History validates this continuity by showing that even in a system of universal suffrage the enduring instinct of the UK ruling class is to abrogate the justice and legal system to trap prosecute and imprison opponents of the state and its economic system.

I initially learnt about Julian Assange case from two journalists whose blogs I read online – Jonathan Cook and Caitlin Johnstone. Both have presented Julian’s plight very powerfully.
