Consortium News received a very special Christmas Day present on Friday when Roger Waters spoke with us and pledged a $25,000 donation to help CN continue its crucial work.
“Consortium News is an important part of our world,” the social activist and legendary musician told the editor-in-chief by phone.
Waters has been front and center in the campaign to free WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange from Belmarsh prison in London and to have the U.S. charges against him dropped.
He has also spoken out in defense of Palestine and against war crimes and corruption by the U.S. and British governments. His music has for more than half a century challenged the establishment.
Waters urged other readers and viewers of this website, which blazed a trail for journalism 25 years ago, to pool together and donate another $25,000.
That would keep us operating at full speed and would be a start for our plans to expand the site with new editors, correspondents and an investigative unit.
So please heed Roger’s call today and:

Wow – this is awesome. It is inspiring.
I’ve been watching some Pink Floyd video after I read this. Man, the memories!
