On Sunday over 100 politicians from 27 countries, including 13 current and former heads of state, appealed to the UK Government to halt Julian Assange’s extradition proceedings and grant his immediate freedom.
As Assange fights U.S. extradition at the Old Bailey in London, the politicians have joined 189 independent international lawyers, judges, legal academics and lawyers’ associations by endorsing their open letter to the UK Government denouncing the illegality of the extradition proceedings.
Politicians endorsing the call to free Julian Assange include Jeremy Corbyn, former Spanish Prime Minister Luis Zapatero, several members of the European Parliament, former presidents of Brazil, Lula da Silva and Dilma Roussef and Australian parliamentarians from the cross-party parliamentary group to free Assange.

I wish you would give a bit of coverage to those parliamentarians/politicians who signed who are not “elder statesmen”, but still pursuing an active political career, and seek re-election, in countries where supporting Assange is joining a minority.
