Russia-gate Flops as Democrats’ Golden Ticket

Exclusive: The national Democrats saw Russia-gate and the drive to impeach President Trump as their golden ticket back to power, but so far the ticket seems to be made of fool’s gold, writes Robert Parry.

By Robert Parry

The national Democratic Party and many liberals have bet heavily on the Russia-gate investigation as a way to oust President Trump from office and to catapult Democrats to victories this year and in 2018, but the gamble appears not to be paying off.

The Democrats’ disappointing loss in a special election to fill a congressional seat in an affluent Atlanta suburb is just the latest indication that the strategy of demonizing Trump and blaming Russia for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 defeat may not be the golden ticket that some Democrats had hoped.

Though it’s still early to draw conclusive lessons from Karen Handel’s victory over Jon Ossoff – despite his raising $25 million – one lesson may be that a Middle America backlash is forming against the over-the-top quality of the Trump-accusations and the Russia-bashing, with Republicans rallying against the image of Official Washington’s “deep state” collaborating with Democrats and the mainstream news media to reverse a presidential election.

Indeed, the Democrats may be digging a deeper hole for themselves in terms of reaching out to white working-class voters who abandoned the party in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin to put Trump over the top in the Electoral College even though Clinton’s landslide win in California gave her almost three million more votes nationwide.

Clinton’s popular-vote plurality and the #Resistance, which manifested itself in massive protests against Trump’s presidency, gave hope to the Democrats that they didn’t need to undertake a serious self-examination into why the party is in decline across the nation’s heartland. Instead, they decided to stoke the hysteria over alleged Russian “meddling” in the election as the short-cut to bring down Trump and his populist movement.

A Party of Snobs?

From conversations that I’ve had with some Trump voters in recent weeks, I was struck by how they viewed the Democratic Party as snobbish, elitist and looking down its nose at “average Americans.” And in conversations with some Clinton voters, I found confirmation for that view in the open disdain that the Clinton backers expressed toward the stupidity of anyone who voted for Trump. In other words, the Trump voters were not wrong to feel “dissed.”

Hillary Clinton at the Code 2017 conference on May 31, 2017.

It seems the Republicans – and Trump in particular – have done a better job in presenting themselves to these Middle Americans as respecting their opinions and representing their fears, even though the policies being pushed by Trump and the GOP still favor the rich and will do little good – and significant harm – to the middle and working classes.

By contrast, many of Hillary Clinton’s domestic proposals might well have benefited average Americans but she alienated many of them by telling a group of her supporters that half of Trump’s backers belonged in a “basket of deplorables.” Although she later reduced the percentage, she had committed a cardinal political sin: she had put the liberal disdain for millions of Americans into words – and easily remembered words at that.

By insisting that Hillary Clinton be the Democratic nominee – after leftist populist Bernie Sanders was pushed aside – the party also ignored the fact that many Americans, including many Democrats, viewed Clinton as the perfectly imperfect candidate for an anti-Establishment year with many Americans still fuming over the Wall Street bailouts and amid the growing sense that the system was rigged for the well-connected and against the average guy or gal.

In the face of those sentiments, the Democrats nominated a candidate who personified how a relatively small number of lucky Americans can play the system and make tons of money while the masses have seen their dreams crushed and their bank accounts drained. And Clinton apparently still hasn’t learned that lesson.

Citing Women’s Rights

Last month, when asked why she accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars for speaking to Goldman Sachs, Clinton rationalized her greed as a women’s rights issue, saying: “you know, men got paid for the speeches they made. I got paid for the speeches I made.”

The Wall Street bull statue by Arturo Di Modica

Her excuse captured much of what has gone wrong with the Democratic Party as it moved from its working-class roots and New Deal traditions to becoming a party that places “identity politics” ahead of a duty to fight for the common men and women of America.

Demonstrating her political cluelessness, Clinton used the serious issue of women not getting fair treatment in the workplace to justify taking her turn at the Wall Street money trough, gobbling up in one half-hour speech what it would take many American families a decade to earn.

While it’s a bit unfair to personalize the Democratic Party’s problems, Hillary and Bill Clinton have come to represent how the party is viewed by many Americans. Instead of the FDR Democrats, we have the Davos Democrats, the Wall Street Democrats, the Hollywood Democrats, the Silicon Valley Democrats, and now increasingly the Military-Industrial Complex Democrats.

To many Americans struggling to make ends meet, the national Democrats seem committed to the interests of the worldwide elites: global trade, financialization of the economy, robotization of the workplace, and endless war against endless enemies.

Now, the national Democrats are clambering onto the bandwagon for a costly and dangerous New Cold War with nuclear-armed Russia. Indeed, it is hard to distinguish their foreign policy from that of neoconservatives, although these Democrats view themselves as liberal interventionists citing humanitarian impulses to justify the endless slaughter.

Earlier this year, a Washington Post/ABC News poll found only 28 percent of Americans saying that the Democrats were “in touch with the concerns of most people” – an astounding result given the Democrats’ long tradition as the party of the American working class and the party’s post-Vietnam War reputation as favoring butter over guns.

Yet rather than rethink the recent policies, the Democrats prefer to fantasize about impeaching President Trump and continuing a blame-game about who – other than Hillary Clinton, her campaign and the Democratic National Committee – is responsible for Trump’s election. Of course, it’s the Russians, Russians, Russians!

A Problem’s Deep Roots

Without doubt, some of the party’s problems have deep roots that correspond to the shrinking of the labor movement since the 1970s and the growing reliance on big-money donors to finance expensive television-ad-driven campaigns. Over the years, the Democrats also got pounded for being “weak” on national security.

Further, faced with Republican “weaponization” of attack ads in the 1980s, many old-time Democrats lost out to the Reagan Revolution, clearing the way for a new breed of Democrats who realized that they could compete for a slice of the big money by cultivating the emerging coastal elites: Wall Street, Silicon Valley, Hollywood and even elements of the National Security State.

By the 1990s, President Bill Clinton and the Democratic Leadership Council defined this New Democrat, politicians who reflected the interests of well-heeled coastal elites, especially on free trade; streamlined financial regulations; commitment to technology; and an activist foreign policy built around spreading “liberal values” across the globe.

Mixed in was a commitment to the rights of various identity groups, a worthy goal although this tolerance paradoxically contributed to a new form of prejudice among some liberals who came to view many white working-class people as fat, stupid and bigoted, society’s “losers.”

So, while President Clinton hobnobbed with the modern economy’s “winners” – with sleepovers in the Lincoln bedroom and parties in the Hamptons – much of Middle America felt neglected if not disdained. The “losers” were left to rot in “flyover America” with towns and cities that had lost their manufacturing base and, with it, their vitality and even their purpose for existing.

Republican Fraud

It wasn’t as if the Republicans were offering anything better. True, they were more comfortable talking to these “forgotten Americans” – advocating “gun rights” and “traditional values” and playing on white resentments over racial integration and civil rights – but, in office, the Republicans aggressively favored the interests of the rich, cutting their taxes and slashing regulations even more than the Democrats.

The Republicans paid lip service to the struggling blue-collar workers but control of GOP policies was left in the hands of corporations and their lobbyists.

Though the election of Barack Obama, the first African-American president, raised hopes that the nation might finally bind its deep racial wounds, it turned out to have a nearly opposite effect. Tea Party Republicans rallied many white working-class Americans to resist Obama and the hip urban future that he represented. They found an unlikely champion in real-estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump, who sensed how to tap into their fears and anger with his demagogic appeals and false populism.

Meanwhile, the national Democrats were falling in love with data predicting that demographics would magically turn Republican red states blue. So the party blithely ignored the warning signs of a cataclysmic break with the Democrats’ old-time base.

Despite all the data on opioid addiction and declining life expectancy among the white working class, Hillary Clinton was politically tone-deaf to the rumbles of discontent echoing across the Rust Belt. She assumed the traditionally Democratic white working-class precincts would stick with her and she tried to appeal to the “security moms” in typically Republican suburbs by touting her neoconservative foreign policy thinking. And she ran a relentlessly negative campaign against Trump while offering voters few positive reasons to vote for her.

Ignoring Reality

When her stunning loss became clear on Election Night – as the crude and unqualified Trump pocketed the electoral votes of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin – the Democrats refused to recognize what the elections results were telling them, that they had lost touch with a still important voting bloc, working-class whites.

The crowd at President Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2017. (Screen shot from Whitehouse.gov)

Rather than face these facts, the national Democrats – led by President Obama and his intelligence chiefs – decided on a different approach, to seek to reverse the election by blaming the result on the Russians. Obama, his intelligence chiefs and a collaborative mainstream media insisted without presenting any real evidence that the Russians had hacked into Democratic emails and released them to the devastating advantage of Trump, as if the minor controversies from leaked emails of the Democratic National Committee and Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta explained Trump’s surprising victory.

As part of this strategy, any Trump link to Russia – no matter how inconsequential, whether from his businesses or through his advisers – became the focus of Woodward-and-Bernstein/Watergate-style investigations. The obvious goal was to impeach Trump and ride the wave of Trump-hating enthusiasm to a Democratic political revival.

In other words, there was no reason to look in the mirror and rethink how the Democratic Party might begin rebuilding its relationships with the white working-class, just hold hearings featuring Obama’s intelligence chieftains and leak damaging Russia-gate stuff to the media.

But the result of this strategy has been to deepen the Democratic Party’s reliance on the elites, particularly the self-reverential mavens of the mainstream media and the denizens of the so-called “deep state.” From my conversations with Trump voters, they “get” what’s going on, how the powers-that-be are trying to negate the 63 million Americans who voted for Trump by reversing a presidential election carried out under the U.S. constitutional process.

A Letter from ‘Deplorable’ Land

Some Trump supporters are even making this point publicly. Earlier this month, a “proud deplorable” named Kenton Woodhead from Brunswick, Ohio, wrote to The New York Times informing the “newspaper of record” that he and other “deplorables” were onto the scheme.

New York Times building in New York City. (Photo from Wikipedia)

“I wanted to provide you with an unsophisticated synopsis of The New York Times and the media’s quest for the implosion of Donald Trump’s presidency from out here in the real world, in ‘deplorable’ country. … Every time you and your brethren at other news organizations dream up a new scheme to get Mr. Trump, we out here in deplorable land increase our support for him. …

“Regardless of what you dream up every day, we refuse to be sucked into your narrative. And even more humorously, there isn’t anything you can do about it! And I love it that you are having the exact opposite effect on those of us you are trying to persuade to think otherwise.

“I mean it is seriously an enjoyable part of my day knowing you are failing. And badly! I haven’t had this much fun watching the media stumble, bumble and fumble in years. I wonder what will happen on the day you wake up and realize how disconnected you’ve become.”

So, despite Trump’s narcissism and incompetence – and despite how his policies will surely hurt many of his working-class supporters – the national Democrats are further driving a wedge between themselves and this crucial voting bloc. By whipping up a New Cold War with Russia and hurling McCarthistic slurs at people who won’t join in the Russia-bashing, the Democratic Party’s tactics also are alienating many peace voters who view both the Republicans and Democrats as warmongers of almost equal measures of guilt.

While it’s certainly not my job to give advice to the Democrats – or any other political group – I can’t help but thinking that this Russia-gate “scandal” is not only lacking in logic and evidence, but it doesn’t even make any long-term political sense.

Investigative reporter Robert Parry broke many of the Iran-Contra stories for The Associated Press and Newsweek in the 1980s. You can buy his latest book, America’s Stolen Narrative, either in print here or as an e-book (from Amazon and barnesandnoble.com).

    Hillary Clinton did not lose. She got the majority if the votes. The electoral college victory is a bogus victory, we need to join the rest of the free world and rely only on the popular votes. As it stands now, we don’t really have a democracy.

    Your headliner belies a certain truth. The right of the citizens of a sovereign nation is to elect a leader of their choosing. Not the electoral system ignoring the west coast, not jerrymandering, not voter restrictions, not chits or vote counting programs, not a climate where mutual paranoia persists between the parties none of these remove the fact that voting is a citizen’s right. That is where the issue of Russian hackers falls.
    So far, it’s republicans who are up to all such tricks. Democrats fight dirty with intrigue. Both parties love disclosures.
    But the FACT is, we citizens are systematically being denied our right to
    have our votes count. What about that?

    You couch it like it is a democrats problem.

    This commentary was remarkably unbiased and informative. A lot of us in serious blue states, where you vote democrat or lose, were happy that Hillary lost. Trump was an anomaly, but in a field as broad as a dozen candidates on the Republican side, many with no hope of standing out, he fought and won the nomination. People wanted an outsider and they got him. Both parties are in disarray, but the Republicans control their own destiny. What they can accomplish has yet to reveal itself.

    Robert Parry is right on with his comments on the Democratic Party elites. As for President Trump being crude, how refreshing when played again Slick Willie, his equally-slick wife, and Obama who put his “World Savior” agenda ahead of his country’s best interests. Trump’s narcissism? Can’t hold a candle to Slick Willie’s and Hillary’s. Trump Incompetent? Hillary, who would be president, couldn’t even run a competent campaign. Trump’s policies will hurt the working class? Pressuring business to keep manufacturing jobs in this county hurts them? Robert, you did pretty good. But your liberal bias and shoulder rubbing with elitists still shows through. I’m so proud of my fellow smart Americans, who saw through the real Hillary, the Democrat elitists, and the leftist New York Times.

    I encourage everyone to watch this YouTube video – the Russia-gate hoax, which was crafted and put together by MI6 agent Christopher Steele (author of the Trump dossier) and propagated by proponents of the mainstream media, is being exposed for what it is:

    CNN Producer Says Russia Narrative “bullsh*t”
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdP8TiKY8dE

    Even the people working at CNN admit that the “blame Russia” campaign is a crock, which is quite telling. (Van Jones called the Russia issue a “nothingburger.”)

    Fighting for the truth beats out taking a dogma-driven partisan stand in the long run. We ought to let our ethical and moral values dictate our politics, and not the other way around. The binary nature of many people in picking one side or another, on every single issue, is a clear testament to the inability of Americans to think critically and rationally – especially when their knowledge over the intrinsic nature of these issues is severely lacking. Fortunately, more Americans every day are starting to see the light.

    It’s surprising, to me, to see the Democratic party fall apart like this. The establishment did the party in by refusing to move past Hillary, or to a greater extent refusing to lead the country forward. They are no longer inspiring, no longer forward looking, they have no core principles that every American can understand as good. How foolish and how greedy were they, the dinosaurs of the party and their scamps throughout government, to bury the party future with Hillary? Foolish enough to lose to Donald Trump. I don’t know who liberal youth have in politics to admire.

    This odd “blame the victim” series from Robert Parry has left me dumbfounded. The reason Republicans were able to paint Hillary as a rich out-of-touch millionaire and Trump as a populist is that Russian propaganda troll farms infiltrated and dominated literally millions of websites. It was a classic disinformation campaign that used small elements of truth to completely invert the perception of both candidates.

    We know that it happened because it is well documented everywhere. So why are we pretending that the Russians stopped there? Why are we assuming they didn’t hack a single voting machine anywhere in the U.S.?

    We know for a fact that Russian hackers tried to access the vote-tabulating computers of at least 32 states. The idea that they would simply ignore the other 18 states, (or the 3000 counties,) is laughable. The fact that we didn’t detect such hacking means that our detection was faulty, not their hacking.

    Russians are perfectly aware that votes are counted first in the counties, (and only sent to the state after being certified at the county level). The various counties vote-counting systems range from “very secure indeed” to “clownishly insecure”. The idea that Russians would attempt to hack 32 separate states but then decide not to hack a single county is absurd.

    It would be like finding out that a team of a thousand bank robbers tried to rob 10 of the 12 Federal Reserve banks, but then decided not to rob the any local bank tellers at all; even the most vulnerable ones. This flies in the face of the obvious: If hackers stop trying to access your e-mail, it means they are already in.

    The FBI and the CIA (and Robert Parry) seem to think that the Russians decided not to change votes in (for example) Brown County, Wisconsin, (or similar counties in Michigan or Pennsylvania) because they have some previously undetected sense of fair play. This is easily disproven.

    Numerous computer hackers have shown how easy it is to take total control of vote counting machines at the county level. For us to pretend that it didn’t happen in a single county anywhere in the U.S. is silly and immature. Blaming Hillary for that is like blaming the World Trade Center for not swatting down those airplanes.

    Trump is so great..the greatest ever..just ask him and the deplorables..You idiots will get what you asked for:
    1. No regulations on Rich people stealing from you
    2. No regulations on corporations from polluting your water, air or property..and you won’t be able to sue them..gotta protect his peeps
    3. No health care for when you get sick from everything..you don’t need that anyway.
    4. No medicaid..and entitlement that you PAY for..that will be gone
    And wait for it…they will take your Social Security…I LOVE IT!!!
    Watching you chumps cry like pussies 15 or 20 years down the line will make this all worth while.
    I no longer care what happens to any of you. I am secure in the future that I have made for myself and my family..We will be sitting on a beach..watching you pieces of shit beg for change on our way back to the bungalow..I will be the first one to say go ask Trump for some..HA HA!!

    Wow! Right on brother. I consider myself a moderate leaning Republican who voted for Hilary. I regret that vote, and despite Trump’s negatives I would vote for him today, and tomorrow. The article you’ve written details why the DNC is so revolting and the media just doesn’t get it. The recent news from CNN that they fired 3 top investigative reporters only supports Trump’s claim the media is not only biased from an ultra-Liberal position, but roundly corrupt. They made up “Fake News” to push their Liberal beliefs and to increase their ratings. This hurts our country and I’ll do what we should all do, stop watching CNN. Our system is long overdue to be exposed for the corruption in both parties, and this is also another reason the people wanted Trump. He had the money to resist these long infested groups in Washington that dictate what our well-meaning politicians say and do. I guess the lesson here is the American people aren’t as dumb as the media thinks.. We get this one… and you so do you.

    Nicely written article from an old hand at real journalism. Perhaps if we follow the corruption money, the truth that China, Russia and India spent $100’s of millions to influence the election would actually come out and we would see that congress is bereft of ethics and morals.

    The sad truth is that our politicians have squandered the opportunity to shape the heartland into an innovation jaugernaut. Investment Zones, big engineering projects for water, air and infrastructure have not been initiated. Instead, the last 25 years has been about globalization and financing it on the backs of Americans. The supposed middle classes in Russia, China and India have not emerged and do not spend enough to enable them to exist without the US consumer and local businesses. The end result is Globalization is killing the goose that laid the golden egg… good old USA.

    Both parties are at fault and corrupt, Trump is just an outgrowth of the disgust with the system. After all based upon his history he is not republican or democrat. He is socially a moderate and fiscally a capitalist. His personal attributes are no different than the other rich megalomaniacs across the country.

    As Bill Maher so elegantly stated.
    Trump warned us that Hillary would hire people from goldmann-sachs.
    However, the reality is that the only people trump hasn’t hired from goldmann-sachs are goldmann and sachs.
    Pot, meet kettle.
    The real reason trump won is that he appealed to white, racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic bigots who want to make america white again. They were pissed off that there was a black man in the white house for 8 years.
    Let’s see, a billionaire who has appointed other billionaires to his cabinet is “certainly” going to understand the needs and concerns of middle america. Okay, and I have a 10,000 mile long bridge in the state of north dakota for sell too.

    An exceptionally sensible article contrary to what seems to be the norm. I appreciate this arduous effort for the truth to be blatantly articulated instead of misconstruing words and perpetuating unsubstantiated allegations with erroneous evidence.

    The main stream media is obviously corrupt. Pessimistic propaganda abounds as if we were living in a liberal totalitarian regime which we are most certainly not. To proclaim half truths and lies is their method. It seems as though their schemes have been severely prevented however they continue to clamor trying to find new ways to cercomvent reality.

    Droning Insaneity is their way with the hope that if enough people believe their ilogical perception the results will be over turned. Extremely dubious, but what do I know? I’m just a simple minded deplorable…..

    Like many foolish voters, I took Trump at his word when he made campaign promises that he never intended to keep. This “Trump Populism” of which you speak has NOTHING at all to do with Trump the man, rather it is ALL about those specific promises he made to his voters, such as NOT touching Medicare or Medicaid on which much of his base RELIES for survival, re-negotiating bad trade agreements to keep manufacturing jobs in the USA, instead of sending them to Third World countries with no labor protections or environmental protections, and subsistence wages. Since I was personally employed in the 80s to remove manufacturing equipment from low wage towns in Indiana and send them to lower-wage maquiladora plants in Mexico, I know for a FACT that globalization is merely a scam by the rich to bring the USA down to Third World conditions, rather than elevate the Third Word to humane First World conditions all so the rich pay lower wages and have more control over the working class. THIS is what the so-called Trump Populism is REALLY about. Nobody gives a damn about just another lying politician!

    As a former Republican repulsed by RINOs and a new independent who voted for Trump, I am amazed by Parry’s and his commenters’ effete snobbish views. “Oh, Hillary is awful, but Trump is only slightly less evil!” “Trump has not carried out his promises!” From where I sit in the heart of the Heartland, Trump is delivering all he is allowed to by obstructionist, clueless democrats in Congress and the MSM and the ultra-liberal Ninth Circuit. Add to that extreme neocons the likes of McCain, and braindead “moderate” RINO Republicans.

    Everyone in DC owes their allegiance to big money globalist donors, not the voters, with the exception of Pres. Trump and a small group of loyalists. That the Senate recently voted 97-2 to expand sanctions against Russia, to the glee of McCain the war hawk and the equally neocon liberal democrats, shows what Trump is up against. The deep state and Congress do not want detente with Russia; for all intents and purposes, they appear to want WWIII, or at least resumption of the Cold War, so as to not slow the tremendous flow of taxpayers’ money into the coffers of the war materials industries/military/intelligence cabal to carry on hopeless war after war. Why? Trump dared propose better relations with Russia, threatening Washington with an end to the war munitions gravy train.

    Parry, you and your snobbish readers are STILL missing the boat. Trump, whom you look down on, is the only outsider in Washington who is, or ever was, willing to attempt to clean up the swamp. All the others are part and parcel of it. That’s why we elected him, and that’s why we will keep electing him.

      And that’s why he fired 59 cruise missiles at Syria, to drain the swamp and make peace with the Russians? That’ s why he sold a multi-billion dollar weapons deal to the Saudis, to stand up against the Military cabal? Rick, you’ve got your head up your ass. Until the deep state is dealt with, it doesn’t matter who the president is. Your man Trump has had his “trip to the woodshed”, and he promised to be a good boy from now on.

      If Trump were serious, he would take his arguments right to the American people.
      So far his only good speech was his inaugural address. Since then it’s just been more of the same that we had with Obama, and George W before him, and all the way back to JFK.

This is “incompetent” ??? To succeed however, he has to act on LaRouche’s idea of a National Bank for credit to build new platforms of infrastructure in conjunction with China’s New Silk Road and the immediate restoration of Glass-Steagall

    I never considered myself a ‘Tea Party’ guy but as a Ron Paul style libertarian, perhaps more culturally/socially ‘left’ I saw nothing wrong with the 1.0 version of Constitutionally limited govt, balancing budgets, and ending Wall St bailouts.

    And I marvelled at the *immediate* resistance to this idea and predicted that it would be smeared and delegitimized and caricatured by a media most adept at creating and burning down polemical strawmen.

    A single confederate flag at a rally was guaranteed to be the top of the fold picture after which the story wrote itself. ‘Occupy’ was less intellectually derived, esentially wanting a list of ‘free stuff’ – but there was anti-wall street/crony capitalism stuff whose embers were doused with the ‘anti-semitism’ smear, inter alia, based on a few, who served to be icons engendering dismissal before consideration.

    I quibble, with this line:

    ‘Tea Party Republicans rallied many white working-class Americans to resist Obama and the hip urban future that he represented’
    ~~~
    I don’t know what ‘hip urban future’ means or how a guy groomed by Chicago elites, who accomplished precious little but narcissistic autobiography before running for the Presidency (not-quite a self made man like say Dr. Dre!) represented it, but I hear the low whistle of ‘hate him because he’s black and oppose his positions based primates on same…
    This is, frankly, the very same glib, smug monolithization which is otherwise well-described in the bulk of the piece!
    I myself voted for Obama as the Potemkin anti-Bush, and in many important regards watched him break promise after promise, on his way to turning in what amounted to Bush’s 3rd (then 4th) term.
    The effort to paint every white male as a cryptoracist enjoyed a kernel of truth which obfuscated the racism of others, and served to conflate ‘limited govt’ with ‘hate’ through quite masterful media manipulation.
    But here we are, watching Trump slouch toward war with Iran, being fed, it seems ‘fake intelligence,’ and being prevented from seeking rapprochement of any kind with Russia or Assad or Iran.
    And as entropy grows, few seem willing to note that lobby and those organizations and ideologues who have been the predominant political and media and ‘think tank’ individuals calling for endless war since 9/11 – because a magic word has such power to end vitally needed discussion that it need only be hinted at to prevent decent people from pointing at the tip of the warmongering spear, from naming them, and their true allegiances.
    The Russiagate embers were getting a little low, so the Washington Post has fed the fire today, claiming that the Obama administration had information about Putin’s intent to hack the election, as my friend told me he heard on a news program. He said that Obama has reported this now. Isn’t that interesting as he makes his staged reentry after the period of quiescence? Those folks wants the coals of Russiagate to glow again and flare up the fire.
    As has been noted, many did not vote FOR Trump so much as AGAINST Clinton and the status quo she (cluelessly) championed … and their protest vote was “given permission” by Clinton’s lead (reminiscent of Brexit which was also a big thumbs-down on the status quo … that was widely expected to fail to gain a majority and could be “safely” championed as a bold-independent stance).
    The press tried to convince us (and may have convinced Clinton) that some of the “Never Trump” contingent of Republicans would cross-the-aisle … they apparently didn’t.
    The Conventional Democratic Army of supporters are currently spitting mad that Pelosi is being attacked (misogyny, sexism) … they seem to believe and echo whatever Maddow and company tell them to. Outraged at Depp, Assange, Cosby, Sanders … almost a full dais of whipping boys.
    As I predicted (months ago) Obama’s decision to play “Russian interference” close to the vest, banking on Clinton’s inevitable win, is being considered, at best, cowardly and possibly dereliction of duty.
    The convoluted conspiracy theorists are having a field day … “Did Putin help create the Steele dossier to ensure he had overwhelming leverage with Trump … and something for Clinton to appreciate?”
    It’s so obvious how many people seem to have forgotten how bad Trump’s odds of winning ALWAYS were … not just in the home stretch … Increasingly the mastermind conspirators “knew” Trump would win and engaged in advance preparations …
    I think the “deep state” routinely plays both sides … so few are interested in why the FBI (who received the dossier in August) similarly apparently made almost no progress in their investigation … oh gosh, today’s NYT front page announces an FBI investigation into Manafort’s money matters (when he was reported to be on the verge of indictment for same on Election eve — an interesting “coincidental” timing) … not that his bookkeeping is necessarily part of any conspiracy greater than can be explained by bad practices and/or self-interest (tax evasion anyone?)
      I was fairly certain Trump was going to win.Over 80% certainty. . Why,? not Russia> Immigration. I knew the Republican base, WHITE PEOPLE in Middle America and the Rust Belt would come out for Trump big time. They did. . It was over by the time the polls closed in Michigan. Don’t blame Obama. He had little power to sway the votes of the people that created the Electoral College landslide. The Press and the polls, Obama and the DNC were trying to suppress the vote and keep people at home. It wass useless to vote for him obviously, he was going to get killed even though Trump stated that their internal polling had him winning decisively days before the election. Clinton and the DNC were in denial. . Independent polls were never as rosy as those cited by corporate media. The Brexit polling analogy does come to mind as does the recent polling regarding May and the Conservatives inevitable overwhelming triumph in England over Corbyn./Labor . Once bitten twice shy, the pollsters in England admitted the possibility that Corbyn might even win running up to the election inasmuch as it was an obvious possibility. Today polls say over 64% of American polled thought the Trump/Russia play in Congress and the Senate was harming our nation and was an obvious attempt to delegitimize the Trump Presidency .. They are clearly right. Expect the Democrats to wake up and smell the coffee real soon . So too, Obama was not as popular as the NY Times and W Post would have you believe, when he wanted to attack Syria over 90% of calls to Congressional and Senatorial offices were against his preferred policy choice. Trump is a disappointment but one should not lose sight of the fact that most people voting where votes counted ( Not California) did not prefer the alternative .Peace.
    I know for certain that two of my neighbors voted for Trump, one because he had a sign on his lawn and the other because he is a crazy fascist. I certainly think people who voted for Trump are stupid, but I am fair-minded and will say the same of people who voted for Clinton. The American voter is an abomination. In 2008, I asked liberals (which hilariously included a self-identified anarchist) who supported Obama if they knew who his advisory team was. The unanimous answer was no and they had no interest in so knowing. How can you expect anything sensible of an electorate who treat politics as a sports match, my team versus your team? I think if you asked Democrats who have been screaming about Russia what emails Russia supposedly “hacked,” they would be unable to answer. All of this gives us a good idea of what it was like to live in Rome as it was consuming itself — we are a dying empire and it isn’t pretty.
    Okay, Consortium News, “Independent Investigative Journalism” articles and authors are raising issues of transparency in my mind.
    Has anyone noticed the many CN articles with obvious Russia-related loaded words in the titles, e.g. this article, “Russia-gate Flops”? From other very recent similar CN titles:
    •”The Fallacies of the Russia-Truthers”
    • “anti-Russia hysteria”
    • “Russia-Bashing”
    • “The U.S. political/media demonization of Russia’s Putin is unrelenting…”
    • “…a demonized foreign leader, like Vladimir Putin…”
    • “The Russia hysteria sweeping America’s political-media world…”
    Googling Robert Parry one finds his articles appear on the Russia Insider site. Does he have an agreement with Russia Insider or other pro-Russia news providers? Why isn’t this affiliation and any other Russian press affiliations noted at the end of his articles – better yet at the beginning?
    James W. Carden, “The Fallacies of the Russia-Truthers,” is another CN regular. Google his name and little will be found. What is available indicates he is directly linked to Russian entities: the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (an alumnus) and The Moscow Times (pays him for articles). And, there is Russia Direct. Headquartered in Moscow, it is “…a small analytical journal that is financed by the Russian government,” and was an “…adviser on Russia policy at the US State Department.” Except for the adviser role, none of these affiliations were mentioned in his article. To have had this information in the intro to the article would have altered the tenor of the article and introduced just consideration for the possibility of bias and motive.
Shooting yourself in the foot and hoping people are dumb enough to believe Russia made you do it is a losing strategy, people with brain cells aren’t going to think that knowing the democrats rigged their primary for the only candidate who could lose to Trump is worse than democrats rigging their primary, especially with no evidence that it was the Russians who proved it.
    I’m really struggling with Parry and where he’s going. Look both parties are screwed up. Drumpf proved that with the republicans and thrashing all their party mainstream candidates. Bernie proved it on the other side and the party elite went with a loser. As for the party of snobs, that could very well be, BUT it seems you forget how the republicans treated Obama for 8 years, Bernie and even HRC. While not a fan of hers at all, the republicans did some really horrible, shameful stuff in the election. A woman who successfully rose threw the ranks of the American political system that is wholly corrupt. Everything they said and accused her of could be “look in the mirror moments” for the white, male privileged elite politicians among her opposition.
    Trump will remain for eight years unless his health gives out. The corporate democratic party is the party of the Whigs.
    The ruling elite no longer need Clinton types or Obama types. Clinton did his water carrying for the elimination of FDR policies and Obama did his water carrying to privatize all of education, it is now over a trillion dollar industry that puts little emphasis on learning. Obama also gave the military a carte blanche for wars and drones and allowed them to wage war with Congressional approval, which is why the war in Syria is illegal and against NATO and US Constitutional principles.
    Nothing matters to the elites anymore but power. They understand the great unraveling has taken its toll and there is no going back. Brutality and shear force is now their modus operandi.
    And the sounds of change for the best seem to become fainter and fainter as Tillerson and Trump do the sword dance with the Saudis.
    The anti-Trump plot began with allegations about contact with Russians; even the presence of Russians at diplomatic receptions was fair game. Flynn, who probably thought that the details of his conversation with the Russian Ambassador were for Trump’s ears only, and not for VP Pence – no disrespect meant–didn’t know that Sally Yates was being fed his words. Additionally, it has been reported that the unsubstantiated allegations in the Steele dossier on Trump was compiled at the behest of Trump’s political enemies. It is past time to learn who paid Steele for the dossier. Steele gave a dossier copy, much of which he is now walking back (See online Washington Times of April 25, 2017 – Rowan Scarborough) to Sen. McCain, whose record shows clearly that he represents the States of Arizona and Israel, the last of which opposes improved relations between the U.S. and Russia because of Russia’s support of Syria and Iran.
    The anti-Russian plot focuses much on what happened in Ukraine in February 2014. Well, what did happen?
    It was largely unnoticed that the German and Polish foreign ministers negotiated in Kiev with a democratically elected government on behalf of forces that later overthrew that government in February 2014 and received IMF funding. If you read closely online dispatches from the New York Times and The Guardian of Feb. 20 and 21 of 2014, you will see that a rightist paramilitary force broke a truce, surprised off-guard police, and set in motion a process that drove an elected president from East Ukraine from office. You will see that Higgins and Kramer in the New York Times played up the truce-breaking as the Government firing on Maidan demonstrators. The Russians replied in kind by taking the pro-Russian Crimea. See for yourself.
    The worst thing about Russia-gate is that it has diverted attention away from Trump’s real crimes. His failure to divest has created a situation where every administration decision is tainted by conflict of interest. He is continuously violating the Emoluments Clause of the constitution and if his business dealings were giving the kind of scrutiny that every instance of a member of the administration coming within 100 miles of a Russian are receiving, I’m pretty sure that outright bribery would be found. This is impeachable and so is obstruction of justice which he should not be allowed to get away with because the underlying charges are bogus. It illustrates that his approach to any kind of pushback is to break the law. It makes me angry that the Democrats are colluding with the intelligence community and dragging the MSM into this fantasy when there are real legal issues that are being ignored.
      Stiv, I can only imagine that you are unaware of the depth of Hillary Clinton’s corruption. The Clintons allowed and encouraged “people” ( I’m not certain that they are human) to buy and Occupy the DNC . Of all the things she/he did, the destruction of the Democratic Party is the worst but there is a trail of coruption , illegality and exceptionalism at every level of her professional career. She is a creep. I do not know Mr. Parry but if he wishes to vent his spleen at the expense of Mrs. Clinton’s virtue he has every right and my support. . I think this is a good web site. In a lot of ways it’s preaching to the choir but that is the cost of doing business on the Web isn’t it.     The Democrats need someone like Corbyn to turn the party left. Sanders can’t do it. He’s been around too long and he’s too old and he’s too co-opted. . The guy in the House who ran against Pelosi for leadership is correct.. The Party needs to reconnect with the people and build up from the grassroots level particularly focusing on youth , working class people, the elderly and people on fixed incomes and folks in need of human services. This was the formula that worked well for Labor in England Instead he Dems, the Super-delegates and the entrenched people at the DNC have doubled down on a losing formula with Trump as the Trump card. It can’t work until the next election it was a stupid strategy. The Blairites in the UK tried to marginalize Corbyn and the rising left like the Centrists and Clintonites . but they weren’t successful. Now it looks like Labor will be back on top in England within 2 years and the Conservatives are clearly just trying to hang on before a new election is forced. The Republicans are in the same boat as the Conservatives in England except the Democrats aren’t rising. Wrong strategy. The race they just dumped $25 million into they ran with a good candidate against a woman who had lost two elections previously. She was not a strong candidate and still won by over 3%. The Constitution did not establish a Two Party system the two parties did. Now how to get rid of it? Well, it doesn’t seem possible . therefore the only way forward is for the Democratic Party to turn left but with the DNC controlling the purse strings and campaigns getting ridiculously expensive the situation seems hopeless. Governor Jerry Brown , the mean old clone of himself probably offers the best hope that any thing positive at all could happen but he’s so old that he probably couldn’t be enticed to run. My opinion. There really isn’t anybody else , the Dems are hurting. Warren .., more of the same.
    I think Perry, the liberal, misses the real irony regarding Hillary and woman’s rights. She took millions in bribes from gulf regimes that enslave women, push gays off of buildings, and engage in ethnic cleansing:
    Saudi Arabia: $25,000,000 – State Dept. approval for U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia
    Prince of Abu Dhabi: $5,000,000 – Muted criticism by State of Bahrain’s abysmal human rights practices.
    Brunei: $5,000,000 – State Dept. clearance for U.S. weapons sales to Brunei.
    GEMS Education, Dubai: $5,600,000 – Bill Clinton made honorary chairman.
    Kuwait: $10,000,000 – State Dept. clearance for U.S. weapons sales to Kuwait.
    Sheikh Mohammed H. Al Amoudi: $10,000,000 – Influence-buying within the Clinton State Dept.
    Qatar: $5,000,000 – State Dept. approval for U.S. arms sales to Qatar.
    United Arab Emirates: $5,000,000 – State Dept. approval for U.S. weapons sales to the UAE.
  45. June 22, 2017 at 12:48
    I’m 73 years old and a war veteran. I write as a former long-time Democratic voter – I left the party when the Clintons came on the national political scene. I think if the Demon-crats had put up a more left-leaning candidate in Georgia {which in itself would be a “miracle”), they probably would have won over a large enough swath of voters to take the seat – after all, a relative unknown like Ossoff was able, in a long-time Republican controlled district, to garner 48 percent of the vote. Quite astounding when you really think about it… The fact that the Party of what used to be, in the period 1960 – 1980, relatively liberal or progressive pols DIDN’T pick a more progressive standard bearer than Ossoff was because of all the reasons that Mr. Parry has elucidated. Let us not forget, Ossoff’s achievement was not inconsiderable, but just not enough. A more really “populist” candidate would have won in my humble opinion. So those who say it was a disaster for the Dems really should look again and the Party’s rank-and-file should organize to put more “progressive” candidates on the ballot, as well as dump the current Party leaders like Pelosi and Schumer who are just as beholden to the fat cats, the MIC, and the Israel lobby as the Reprobates, er, Republicans are.
    How many readers of Consortium believe either party represents their interests? One problem of course that the interests are so varied that bringing enough people under one big, feel good tent is impossible. We are so awash with identity politics that discord is rampant.
    Anyone prone to conspiracy theories about secret cabals running the country would think the cultivation of such discord was deliberate, it takes people’s minds off bread and butter issues, issues those secret cabals really care about and they don’t want you to care about, certainly not to think about. Maybe the cabals are not so secret.
    So what about creating a movement to elect people committed to the common good, to the interests of most people. Well how would that be done. Certainly not impossible but nearly so when special interests use their money and influence to be sure people who run understand why they are being allowed to run, and who supports them to get elected. People get elected and start relying on the same people to get them reelected.
    I suppose many Consortium readers have their own solutions, could probably put together a pretty good platform. They might even have ideas about how intelligent, unselfish people might appear as viable candidates.
    Which goes back to why many of us voted for Trump. Maybe we knew he was crazy, but maybe, just maybe in a good way. Well, you lose some and with politics the way they are your lose some more.
      Herman, I appreciate your honest and heartfelt good wishes for our political process in the USA to present some kind of positive opportunity to turn things around, but I am afraid that deeper trends like capitalism and the elite class it has spawned, and militarism and the huge economic monster it has created are just not easily going away. As long as our “representatives” are in thrall to these giant forces, I don’t expect any real solutions from them no matter what false promises they cloak them selves in.
        What I am saying is that we simply need to get rid of capitalism and the military, not foolishly dream of “improving” them. I am talking world peace, and economic equality. These goals could be accomplished in an orderly way over a relatively short time if enough people believed in them deeply enough to change their behavior and alter their lifestyles to make it happen. If that seems impossible, then welcome to a world headed for self-destruction.
          The democratic party decided to double-down on tribalism (apparently emulating the “vast right wing conspiracy”) with the inclusion now of well-funded faux “think-tanks” and half-a-dozen astroturf blue-shirted “tea-party equivalents) … because they can only imitate and identify with the aggressor … so, in 2016, we got Hillary Clinton down in the dirt dealing with pussy-grab videos (10 years old) and accusations of treasonous collusion (while Trump’s actual financial dirt was oddly ignored) … as if, they believed that Americans wanted another down-and-dirty (fake as fake can be) World Wrestling Federation reality-show election cycle …
          When Obama won in 2008, I predicted that if he failed to keep his promises as badly as I expected the Democratic party was going to be in for a world of hurt from those who “believed” Obama and “the process” …
          It took a couple generations post-Watergate for all those inspired to “work within the system” to be publicly humililated by things being worse than could have even been imagined by Watergate and the Church (COINTELPRO) hearings … no one even calls for lancing the abscess … few even care that the government is engaged in vindictive targeted “leaking” (as bad as what Nixon intended to do to Ellsberg) … crickets …
    This is an excellent article accurately describing the ongoing dynamic. The most deplorable result has been Trump feeling the need to prove he is not a Russian stooge by violating his election promises and risking nuclear war by continuing elements of the deep state Syria policy favouring the barbaric element over the civilized legitimate government. A collapse of the yankee imperium appears to be what is necessary for things to move forward, but unfortunately, that collapse likely will occasion our extinction.
    You forgot the warmongering bit. Hillary is a warmonger; Mr. Trump is not. Also, I suspect Mrs. Clinton is as “crude and unqualified” as Mr. Trump. Isn’t it Hillary that screamed at Secret Service personnel, her employees and advisors in the DNC and Bill – let’s not forget Bill – using the “F” word in every sentence, sometimes twice in one sentence? As far as narcissism and incompetence is concerned, can you name one thing of substance Hillary did as a Senator? While Sec. of State Mrs. Clinton was unable to master a computer; she had to use the Blackberry; that was the only device she could work – and she had to go out in the hall to do it, since her office was too secure for an unsecured device. She has been unable to look into her own shortcomings as a candidate, being a crook and all, and blames – well, you have read I am sure that she blames everybody and anybody, including 10,000 Russians and James Comey. Narcissism and incompetence, crude and unqualified – these are adjectives that may or may not belong to Mr. Trump and surely belong to Mrs. Clinton. I think your article would have had merit if you did not add these gratuitous side-swipes at our President.
      Whether President Trump is a warmonger or not is being demonstrated now – and the results do not look good. Turning military policy over to a mad dog is not a good sign, neither is selling billions of dollars of lethal weapons to the insane tyrants of Saudi Arabia a peace making gesture.
      Unfortunately, Trump apparently thinks that to defend himself against false, absurd charges that he is a traitor, he has to follow the pattern and act as a war monger even if his instinct tells him that is a fatal course of action. This is the real tragedy of the whole Russia gambit. Trump should grow cojones and shut down the special prosecutor, unless he decides to goe against his history and the plan and instead goes after the harpy and Loretta Lynch.
      Killary got her email server installed not because she wanted to use her Blackberry then because she wanted to hide the pay-to-play Clinton Foundation going in parallel with State a Sec. Even if she could separate the emails to/from the same people between her government job and her private job (The Foundation), which she could not, the problem of the Outlook Schedule remained – her meetings with foreigners willing to pay into the Foundation would have become property of the State Department and US people, which means easily exposed.
        Yeah Kiza, Killary is as crooked as they come, and it amazes me that her email scandal, and especially the pay to play connection, is not being prosecuted. You would think that the Republicans would get their act together and start a counter offensive to balance the BS Russiagate scandal. Why isn’t Sessions doing this, I wonder? Could it be that there is so much dirt on both sides of the aisle that he is paralyzed?
          The Clinton Foundation is being investigated, by Charles Ortel.
            The least that could be done is to retro-actively remove the tax exemption status of Clinton Foundation based on the amount of benefits paid to unrelated employees and the owners of this “charity for the Clintons”. All contributors and the foundation should pay tax.
    Great post, Richard Ong, and mike’s comment very true that when Obama threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus it was a defining moment for him. I heartily agree with Reverend Wright, his jeremiad was accurate. Obama turned out to be a Pied Piper or a Judas Goat (especially for Blacks), the handsome trained goat that leads the others to the slaughter pen. And likewise, Hillary Clinton is a Judas Goat, a Nanny for women, trained to lead people with her rancid rhetoric (especially women) to the slaughter pen. Her husband was extraordinary with the rhetorical gift, and he also was a Judas Goat who led the slaughter through the Democrats’ acquiescence with Republicans to complete dismantling of the New Deal. Social Security is about the only New Deal program remaining, and Congress is trying hard to eliminate that, too. (Hmm, a male goat is called a “Billy”.)
      As you Jessica, and many here know from personal experience, to question and criticize our government opens us up to many vicious attacks from the true believers accusing us of being traitors to America. Operatives spent weeks going over Jeremiah Wright’s sermons to finally extract the words “God damn America” from their context and use them to demonize Wright.
      If you want to know the sermon that sound bite was taken from, go to the site below. It was a darn good sermon in my opinion, and one that should be preached in a lot of “white’ churches too: http://www.sluggy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=315691&sid=4b3e97ace4ee8cee02bd6850e52f50b7
    This is an extraordinarily insightful article that puts the anti-Russian conniving of the Democrats in sharp focus.
    There’s another kind of anti-Russian hysteria in evidence at FoxNews. Call it neocon ARH because it sure isn’t “right-wing.” Jack Keane and Ralph Peters are the worst.
    It’s entirely manufactured and Mr. Parry should do another excellent “keep it in perspective” piece contrasting the nonsense about Russian “expansionism” with the disgraceful US role in the killing of Gaddafi, gun running to jihadi scum in Syria, pursuing the disastrous wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, and meddling in Ukraine and the Balkans. Yes, it’s the Russians who are aggressive and a threat to peace. Please.
    One final note. The deep racial wounds idea is laughable. If there are any such wounds the Democrats need look no further than their determined pursuit of identity politics, which are pure poison. The Congressional People of Color Caucus has done it’s part to deepen them as well.
    The Tea Party was born of the middle class realization that the Republicans were indifferent to fiscal problems, inter alia. If the Tea Party and middle America had any antipathy toward Obama it was because they correctly concluded a man couldn’t spend 20 years in a “church” and not agree with what the “pastor” said. And what that “pastor” said was, “God damn America! God damn America!”
      When Obama threw Pastor Jeremiah Wright under the bus, was indeed a defining moment in Obama’s career.
        Obama was rotten before that.
        Denying his pastor was of a piece with the rest of his calculations.
        Going to the guy’s church was probably also a calculation. To gain some kind “authenticity” with the black community.
      Besides the warmongering FOX pundits MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has gone off the road with her demonizing of Putin and Russia. Last night I happened to watch Rachel’s opening first twenty minutes, and boy did she do a job on Oliver Stone and Putin’s Showtime interview, and then from there Rachel went to making hay over the Russians hacking into our voting system. If you listened carefully Maddow really never produced a smoking gun, but between her snarky attitude to her use of well crafted words I think many did buy what she was selling. This is regretful when you realize that Russia truly wants to be America’s friend.
      One other thing we Americans should be discussing, is with all this saber rattling and poking of the Russian bear when was the last time any U.S. politician brought up the subject of ‘civil defense’. Like hiding under your desk, or building a bomb shelter? Never, because that might scare us, and what’s a few million people anyway. Our government doesn’t even care about it’s citizens welfare, only donor class donors are the ones worth saving.
      Here’s an idea, with Rachel’s scare mongering of Russia, MSNBC should run ‘bomb shelter’ commercials…isn’t this the American way? Capitalize everything!
        Rachel Maddow is paid $30,000 a gig – for her last night ‘s gig you mentioned. Of the major Countries which count – Russia, and China are the only countries left who are not under the control of ‘The Chosen People’. Germany though not completely under their full control pays homage to The Chosen People. India is not under their Control – but India is irrelevant, does not count. Rachel Maddow is an instrument of the same Wall Street Financial Oligarchy, who runs the world. So, it does not come as a surprise, that she is demonizing Putin and Russia day and night. I would not put much hope in Bernie either. He has connections there as well. We worked in the campaign of John Kerry, because he promised to stop the Iraq War. As a Secretary of State, he turned out to be the biggest war hawk. Articles in progressive sites like this correctly described him as Secretary of War
        That is how it seems to me. May be, I am missing some thing!
I want to respect the status of dual citizen, but I lose faith in it due to seeing how for some dual citizens who serve our government that their dual citizenship is nothing more than a backdoor way into gaining control of our governments power bases. When my Italian grandparents took up full U.S. Citizenship that didn’t make then any less Italian, so while I know everyone’s situation may differ I still don’t like that there are those who only use this dual citizenship as a way of getting behind the wheel which is driving us Americans off a cliff.
The Society of Jesus is a politically active 501 (c)3 that likes to dress up as Democrats, to collect funds, to seize assets and to control minds. Not one Democrat offered to assist me when I was a “protected refugee claimant” in Canada 2008-2012 when Hillary Clinton was U.S. Secretary of State. Is it the drug war or is it something else? Are disabled Americans inherently bad people/parents for using cannabis safely & effectively?
  55. June 22, 2017 at 06:23
    Thanks for the defense, friends. My major point, anyway, was about the loss of connect we have in this society, and that is why the word “stupid” gets bandied about. I have used it, too, in frustration. If anyone remembers Studs Terkel, he was a well-known author, radio personality, historian, son of Russian Jewish immigrants, who traveled all over the country to interview common folks about their lives and concerns, and he published many popular books and got lots of media attention. Do you think he would get such attention nowadays? I doubt it. Media was focused on regular people after the Great Depression and the New Deal, now it is corrupt and owned by money. The situation of regular people nowadays is that many are struggling to stay afloat. Take a look at the Philando Castile verdict in Minneapolis, based on a Supreme Court decision about use of force by police, now police feel impunity in going first for their gun without thinking. And how many of these cases involve black people who are now dead?
    This country is a mess and the oligarchs and their political supporters who run it care not one whit for the regular people. The people have had their power completely taken away by the corrupt politicians of this morally bankrupt system, and the media are their complicit conspirators. And the educational system has been deliberately dumbed-down to keep people in their oppressed state. No political reorganization will change this sorry situation because the problem is the loss of a moral center.
        Definitely NO MORAL CENTER. As my Nam vet buddy said immediately after the election ” What kind of a man ( and I think he was referring to what it would take for him to do the same) could go into a voting booth and pull the lever for Trump?”
        Fundamentalist antiabortion, pro death penalty, pro war, Christian? Yea, they’re out there in droves. And that’s where the moral decay starts.
      Patrick – some socialism isn’t exactly a bad thing. You already have progressive income tax. Add single-payer healthcare and affordable prescriptions. There, done.
      Let’s talk about Wall Street, socialism for the rich. Those insolvent (yes, bankrupt, all of them) banks were bailed out in 2008. Don’t even get me started about the fraud and corruption that went on there. Look how the rich came running! “Oh, please, bail us out!”
      And how about the healthcare monopolies? If these guys actually had to compete with young entrepreneurs, they’d probably all be out of business and healthcare costs would drop like a stone.
          Nancy, Socialism is nothing but trickle-down government. It is rule by bureaucrats; it is crony capitalism in a different jersey.
          The supposed socialist utopias of Europe are Orwellian police states. Don’t believe me? Anyone in Germany who questions Angela Merkel’s open borders is labeled a neo-Nazi and has their homes raided.
          Anyone who expresses concern over the Islamization of Europe, including the otherwise-left wing Marine le Pen, is labeled a far-right extremist. Oh yeah, and Dutchman Geert Wilders was branded a thought criminal by that country’s government.
      Patrick, beware of the propaganda against moderate socialism. Everything taken to extremes is bad. Between extreme socialism (state ownership of all) and extreme capitalism (economic exploitation) lie the very useful compromises of regulated free markets (efficient production but regulated to prevent dishonesty) and benevolent assistance (for the elderly and sick and temporarily unemployed, but not mere handouts). The balancing of human interests leads to the only habitable place, the middle ground.
        I have come to believe the only capitalism worth having is a tightly regulated capitalism, similar to the way capitalism was regulated in the FDR years. I also don’t see anything wrong, in fact everything right could be achieved to give people a better standard of living, if we socialized our healthcare, and subsidized our utility companies in order to make life affordable to as many as possible. I would even be for cities to provide shelter to the homeless, much like the kind of housing the city of Seattle provides for their homeless population. We have to unitedly stand together all the time, just not when we go to war. Finally we need to hold media and politicians accountable to tell us people the truth, because we are spending into the next three generations of Americans livelihood for the sake of killing people in far off distant lands for whatever reason the big propaganda lie for which as been told, and it all must end somehow now.
          Joe, You are right on the mark. Considering the development of capitalism, political rhetoric, almost since 1870 when the Capitalist Class – looking at the upheavals in France and Germany, and elsewhere in Europe – started labeling Socialism as dangerous, not good for the simple folks of America; America’s DNA has been inoculated against Socialism. What you have described is the best it can be done. It will go a long way towards repairing some of the damage done over the last four decades. It may also turn the attention of the Ruling Establishment attention towards fixing our own problems instead of raining death and destruction to conquer the World. But there are lot ‘Ifs’ in this proposition.
          A large number of our elected representatives are very uneducated, unqualified, and incompetent. I happened to meet Democratic Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez – who lost to Kamala Harris for California Senate Seat last November – during the year of John Kerry’s Presidential Campaign, in which we participated. I would not recommend any one to vote for her even for a city council seat. Many of the elected representatives are trained lawyers, but that does not make them necessarily qualified for the job. In fact opposite is true. Look at Adam Schiff , he is master in spinning lies. He really represents what this Washington Political Establishment has become today. As it is clear to much of the Electorate, the whole Political System is run by the Money – Financial Oligarchy – behind the doors intrigue and drama. This Kamala Harris we voted for is going to be even more destructive than Loretta Sanchez. They are the loyal servants of the Finabcial Oligarchy, just raise their hands when the “Russia Sactions Bill” or some other bill comes to make Wars.
    America’s “two party system”:
    Two streetwalkers fighting over the “John’s” money!
    Our political system what is left of it is now a baleful disgrace.
    Our only solutions to our problems is to blame Russia; to bomb the shit out of anyone who won’t genuflect to our desires to rule them.
    This will not end well.
    It’s time Americans take their heads out of their Iphones and pay attention to what is happening.
    If not, as an 87 year old American I can’t feel sorry for them…….
    Russiagate wasn’t designed to catapult the dems to victory
    It was a coup by neocons and neoliberals to prevent diplomacy with Russia. Trump campaigned on
    no Syrian regime change and he promised normalization of relations with Russia. Thanks to Russiagate,
    that is now impossible. The unelected Pentagon is directing our foreign policy. The same states that voted for Trump also voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 because both those men promised to end the wars.
    Mainstream media’s job is to sell the war to us. It a social engineering tool. It doesn’t inform thoughts.
    It shapes thoughts. The new mainstream media model is a well-paid propaganda device and therefore not concerned if readership/viewers or ad revenue declines because it is funded by the CIA. For example, the CIA paid Jeff Bezos of the WashingtonPost $600,000 million.
      Not sure about the Jeff Bezos part but you got the rest right. There are a whole bunch of other synergies. It is like a pajama party. Everyone is thinking of new games to play and how to engage in pillow fights while the big kids open the drawers and remove all the cash. One huge cluster @#&!. In the morning we awake to find the house wrecked, the money gone, the kids gone and we are left holding the bag. A far better fate than people all over the planet who face bombs dropped by bombers and drone attacks as we practice with the latest technological gee whiz weaponry while the media stays silent.
      The level of distortion and misdirection under media propaganda has led rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer and if you are from some other country, you can be banned from ever being able to visit if Trump has his way. It is a country club mentality where anyone Trump doesn’t like gets escorted out the door or in this case banned from America.
      The media created Trump. They gave him three billion dollars in free advertising and we have angst over 25 million raised in a congressional race?
      I can only imagine as the World watches in horror as America spins into a new war with Russia, new wars in the middle east and North Korea, Iran, Qatar, The Moon, whoever lives on planet Gliese 667 Cc. etc. Trump’s cabinet looks like an episode of Star Trek where Q from the Q Continuum (John de Lancie.) is playing some great big prank on the hapless denizens of the Enterprise as they face existential threats all for the amusement of Q who toys with the mortals like a cat toys with mice.
      I never thought it would take so little time from the introduction of unlimited infinity money in politics coupled with the double whammy of having all that cash covered like the secret ballot as protected free speech to the crazy house we are in. This is what it is like to be in the Kings Court everyone doing their best to be perfect obsequious sycophants to the men with the money.
      The more the Dems and neocons and other Deep State players harry and threaten Trump, the narrower his options become in the international arena and the more he has to capitulate in order too hang on to his office.
      So, all parties joining in the “impeach” chorus—that includes, for example, The Nation and Harper’s, to name just two of these leftish nags I mean rags—are driving the world closer to war.
      If they are so smart—smarter than, say, the basket of deplorables who voted for Trump—why don’t they see this this very obvious fact? They are not so smart, that is why.
      They are emotional basket cases, on the rag, whose hatred of Trump is leading them to sell themselves to some very rough players.
    Let the democrats be sucked down the drain with the media lunacy. That’s what happens. They have become blind opportunists led by the nose to the next talking point as prepared by the media dancing to money’s tunes when they should be doing their jobs representing the people that elected them. I find this to be the case with most folks. They just believe what they are told. Perhaps, finally the over the top hysterics over the Russians are going past what anyone can see with their own eyes to the point where people are seeing.
    On the other hand, perhaps it is just a case where the folks who have been on the side of all the media bashing like when Clinton was being impeached and the right wing press was in its heyday are now facing the other end of the gun and they don’t like it.
    Everyone will agree in the end that we are all at risk from a media and a government that doesn’t have our interests in mind.
    Whether it was Obama refusing to budge on Healthcare without firm bipartisan support or the new secret deal being railroaded through Congress. I think we all know who these people work for.
    Was Russia Gate just a big distraction for Trump to place all his cabinet positions as well as obscure the current secret “negotiations” over the healthcare bill nobody is allowed to see? Are we all being led by the nose?
    I have to say yes. We, myself, this website find ourselves always on the receiving end of the offensive lines coming out of Washington and the media. We react to these things as if they were real even though we know they are not real. In a sense, we give them life when they are just phantoms. But how can you take a chance on which lies you choose to ignore to focus on something else when the media has the ability to carpet bomb our consciousness with saturation coverage of a fiction which has the potential to lead to nuclear war with Russia?
    We are all being played. It is like a bank heist with all the meticulous planning. Reminds me of “About Last Night” which was a South Park Episode where it is revealed that the only reason Obama wanted to become president was to join forces with John McCain and steal the Hope Diamond. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/About_Last_Night…_(South_Park)
      In my private life I try to be casual with what I know of the news, as we know it, but there are times I have to tell people what I know or think, and for the most part I have learned from these others things I wasn’t sure of, but on mostly all foreign news I find people don’t explore, so they buy what the MSM is selling…I try to politely suggest to these people to read sites like this one…but who knows, you can’t make people do things like that.       Yes, the Russiagate propaganda is mere distraction, although chosen to revive the cold war for the MIC/zionist/WallSt oligarchy; Mr. Parry apparently knows that, and responds only to enlighten those who do not. It is caused by mass media sycophancy, bribery, and shared interests of their sponsors in the MIC/zionist/WallSt oligarchy.
  69. June 21, 2017 at 21:13
    Russiagate isn’t about obtaining power by getting back control over government. It’s simply about lining pockets with money from donors in exchange for doing their bidding.
    What a good article, Mr. Parry! There’s no substitute for talking to real people, as the great Studs Terkel used to do.         Bruce Walker – you may very well be right that Americans are stupid, but “why” are they stupid? The media, the politicians, the educators are not educating them. How is the average person supposed to know that the Jewish lobby owns Congress? If I came up to you out of the blue, say at a bus stop, and started telling you that the Jewish lobby owns Congress, and you’d never heard about it, you’d probably look at me like I was crazy, call me an anti-semite, whatever.
        Cynthia McKinney (from Georgia) spoke out about it, but most politicians keep their mouths shut. They don’t want to incur the wrath of AIPAC. It’s one of those secrets that no one talks about. (By the way, when Cynthia McKinney didn’t back the Jewish lobby, they went up against her, poured money into her competitor the next election, and she lost).
        IF the people knew about this, if 60 Minutes did a one-hour special on it, yeah, people would be screaming. They just don’t know. The only reason I know about it is because I started coming on sites like this and heard others mention it, and then I started researching it. But people shouldn’t have to go searching all over the Internet to find the truth. It ought to be coming to them from the media, government, teachers, professors, etc., and it’s not.
        I don’t think it’s so much that people are stupid, but that TPTB don’t want the citizens educated, otherwise they might start asking questions. This AIPAC business is kept very quiet. I agree, it should be shouted from the rooftops.
          backwardsevolution: Very informed comments as always. I do want want to add one observation. The middle and upper middle class homes I have associated with, I have not seen any talk or discussion on politics. It is considered impolite – it may hurt some body’s feelings, and thus avoided. Children being not exposed to discussions in the home grow up to be apolitical, not being able to analyze and make correct political decisions.
          Reading about the American History, and the biographies of the major political figures of that age, one finds that in eighteenth century, and nineteenth century, public very actively participated in the discussions, and debates on the political matters – in small towns, and in cities.
          Students in High Schools should be exposed to discussion on wide spectrum of political views, But, It was amusing to see that we have politicians (democrats like Adam Schiff) here in Sacramento who introduced a bill few months ago, in California State Assembly to teach the students about the dangers of Russian Interference in our democracy , Russian News (Fake News!).
          As You made point above, the political establishment does not want the people to know.
            As to Jessica and her contributions, I certainly agree with you.
            As to the intelligence of the American people, it’s a bell curve ranging from the very stupid to the very smart. The country in general tends to get hoodwinked because some of the very smart systematically set out to manipulate everyone else, even other smart folks through the use of subtle and persistent lies. Oh, they often employ some of the less intellectually well-endowed zealots to carry their water, which probably enhances the credibility of these useful idiots with the left side of the distribution curve. The only faction that interfaces with most of the public, the mass media, seems to be fully on board with the propagandists and prevaricators. The people who own and operate these outlets are not stupid and know full well they are attempting to fool most of the people most of the time.
            It’s a hard nut to crack for anyone who wants to disseminate the real truth when the big lies are told 24/7 and truths are actively suppressed through blatant censorship. Even complaints about this censorship are actively censored. Anybody here recently try to get a post past the moderators at the New York Times?
            If the complaint is that Americans were stupid for choosing two candidates in the primaries that were beyond the pale of all common sense and logic, firstly, the Democratic primaries were rigged (as we learned from Wikileaks), and, secondly, which of those 17 GOPers vying with Trump would have made any better a president? Most were downright scary. Seems like we didn’t have an opportunity to express our collective wisdom or stupidity in a gamed system. I generally agree that Americans usually do collectively act stupid, but in the last election we were not given the slightest opportunity to surmount our impediment.
      The US is a collapsing empire. Having more political parties does not change the trajectory: EVERY empire collapses. Review history to see that life doesn’t improve for a country’s citizens during and after a collapse.
      Not until we can define a society which is NOT predicated on growth (perpetual growth on a finite planet is not possible) can we even begin to contemplate a realistic “solution.”
Most of the European Nations had a great improvement in life with the loss of their colonial Empires, during their social democratic era (their “New Deal” era). The Synarchists (the ones who created communism to justify fascism as the cure) who long for the return of Empire, is the thorn in their side (and ours too), which have made life miserable for them. But it does not have to be so. In fact NOTHING is inevitable and all actions are available as we are agents with free will. Why don’t you see this, Seer?
      Yes, political activism is the only answer. But with elections and mass media controlled by economic concentrations, winning elections means selling out to the rich enemy, as did the Democrats.
      Oligarchy must be eliminated first. That has never in history been done by education and activism, only by violence, and that requires enough angry people. The anger awaits severe and prolonged depressions, military defeats, and humiliation of the people by proud aristocrats like the Reps and Dems.
      New parties that truly represent their supporters are the only chance. They will not arise until the collapse is well advanced, because people are too lazy. Then they will fail because elections and mass media are controlled by money and special interests. This lesson will be re-learned by several generations of mass media addicts until the late collapse stage.
    I have to agree with Robert Parry’s spot on article here. It isn’t so much that anyone loves Trump, in some case his approval rating is quite the opposite, but what Hillary has done to the Democrates is ‘deplorable’. The Clintons have ruined the party of the people, and Obama wasn’t much good at bringing it back to what the Democratic Party once stood for. The last chance for many of us who can remember when the Democrates had it right, was back in 1972 with George McGovern. Before any of you remind me about Jimmy Carter, I will say this, that Jimmy Carter never stood a chance, because even then the Democrates were already in political disarray. Hillary put the finishing touches to a troubled once proud party. If the Democrates want to start winning, then they better turn back to the days of FDR, and quit picking on Tulsi Gabbard, because she maybe the Democrates best choice to bring their party back to life. Otherwise good riddance.
            You what you are saying is that we must put the same politicians who have failed us in the issue of peace and war in charge of the currency? (As if they already don’t control it.) You sound like the Generals in Afghanistan – you want just more of the same policy (money printing) we already have.
            If you want a new system, kill the fiat dollar, return to the gold standard and the entire phony money printing American Imperium will collapse over night. With no printed money bailout, entities like Goldman Sachs will end up on slabs like Lehman Brothers. Politicians will be FORCED to pick what they spend American wealth on – and you can be sure it won’t be to bomb Syria, protect the Baltics, or build roads in Afghanistan. People will accept debt only when their is a good chance of return, not just on “Faith and Credit” of the government.
      The Democratic Party first has to rid itself of Hillary Clinton and any one associated with her. that includes Chelsea and Chelsea’s children.
      The Kennedy political dynasty actually produced some capable politicians.
      The Clintons: Meh.
      That act would demonstrate some will to face reality and move on.
      The Dem party needs a total “Clinton Cleanse.”
      ??? Well, I am open to alternatives if any could be found. The issue is that government is such a large entity, with tentacles in all portions of the economy and all social life. Is it even rational to expect that it can be controlled via representative democracy? Can the individual ever compete in such an arena against organized special interests? One might argue that some governments such as the Nordic states are even more intrusive but are democracies. Can those small test cases be scaled up to a countries with populations in the 100s of millions?
    About the only good thing to come out of this last election was how it has revealed for all to see the utter corruption of both major political parties. Americans are very slow learners, but maybe more of them will finally learn that third parties are not just a bad joke, but sometimes a real worthwhile alternative. It’s interesting that the main streamers have gone to great lengths to demonize anything “alternative.” Maybe they can hear the footsteps coming up behind them?
      Hi ,
      Yes it can happen here. Short history lesson. Germany 1922-1931. No one ever thought the National Socialists would gain power. They did. No one in the good ole USA could imagine that a tv star could gain power. And here we are.
        The Supreme Court did its part in the New Deal to advance the cause of total government by betraying the Constitution and simply ceasing to uphold the Commerce Clause in Art. I, Sect. 8. Thus was born the out-of-control Congress which could now legislate on any subject it pleased if it “affected” interstate commerce and, of course, everything did it just happened.
        This was just the coup de grace after the enormous mistakes of the 16th and 17th Amendments and the creation of the Federal Reserve. Americans lost control of our government. Now at best it’s an oligarchy as I think Mr. Parry makes clear. 1930s Germany is not where we should look but to the New Deal and the communists who infested our nation then and since. FDR even said some of his best friends were communists and he personally gave diplomatic recognition to the worst tyranny in the world then or since.
        Why not a TV-star – if that is what Trump is? A third-rate movie actor did it. The moment when Reagan became president was when I realized that the old american saying was actually true;” in america anyone can grow up to be president”. Heck, as we now see they don’t even have to grow up.
So why not a Reality TV star (although I believe he is mainly a real estate developer)? When we have private armies fighting pitched battles in the street we can talk about Germany pre-1934. So far the only street movement with any resemblance of the old SA in Germany is ANTIFA.
    Mr. Parry offers a useful and balanced narrative upon the first five months of Trump, an essential counterpoint to the mass media propaganda.
    Those who would like to petition the NYT to make Robert Parry their senior editor may do so here:
    https://www.change.org/p/new-york-times-bring-a-new-editor-to-the-new-york-times?recruiter=72650402&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
    While Mr. Parry may prefer independence, and we all know the NYT ownership makes it unlikely, and the NYT may try to ignore it, it is instructive to them that intelligent readers know better journalism when they see it. A petition demonstrates the concerns of a far larger number of potential or lost subscribers.
    Precisely because the media are so disconnected, it is impossible to know how much of America really identifies with the “deplorables” laughing at the Times. How many abandoned Trump after he bombed Syria, as much of the self-proclaimed alt right did? I think the percentage is small, but that is only what I am garnering from opinion polls — my friends around me give me little data. The political leanings of this country are turning into a great, inexplicable mystery which only the actual elections can resolve.
    • Kiza
      June 21, 2017 at 21:32
      The problem of knowing where things are leaning towards is compounded by Demoncrat pollsters insisting on rigging their polls again and again and again. “One prominent pollster even declared just 6 days before the election that if Ossoff failed to win it would mean that ‘MATH IS DEAD AND DATA IS BROKEN.’ ” Out with the old maths and in with the new one.
      When Domoncrat wishes and reality clash, the reality loses because MSM uncritically pick up any swill coming out of DNC and its pollsters. The reality remains skewed until the election results roll in. Hello Demoncrats, anybody home … polling trickery does not work any more! As to high contributions you have been getting, who is going to keep paying the losers? Maybe for you it is – the more you lose the better you get. If you could only make the hag shut up and dismount, maybe you would have a better chance next time.
      Trump, who has not kept even one promise from before the election, is getting the old political lesson – it is not how bad I am, it is how bad they are.
        June 21, 2017 at 22:16
        Who is the hag , and what is the dismount? Hillary Clinton lost the election, I get that, but what are you referring to the verb of dismount ? Who should dismount from what? Please, be clear and concise. And what is a Domoncrat as opposed to a Demoncrat? I’d like to know. Thank you. And by the way I am not a Demon, but I do have democratic leanings, in the sense, that I think a democracy,( not Demoncracy as you may frame it) is a worthy goal. We are so bad and imperfect, but we also are good and trying to make life less bad..
          Hello Tina, does it not strike you as odd that someone who has lost election, not once but twice, is still talking so much, one could suspect in preparation of a new campaign for 2020? When is enough really enough? When does one realise that she is unelectable because of the crimes she has been doing? Does crime matter for public office in US, even the highest office? Is it appropriate to call the party of criminal candidate a party in which demons rule demon-crats (for example, the party which stole nomination from a less criminal candidate)?
          You asked me to be concise so I will stop here. As Skip says – it is time to dismount the (low) horse and let other (women or men) try. Otherwise, that hag will be the death of the party.
          But it appears that it is not only the Demoncrat party which suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia, perhaps the whole US demon-cracy suffers from it: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-21/democratic-election-commissioner-demands-probe-russian-links-facebook-drudge-huffpo-
        Trump has kept more than 1 promise that he made before his elelection.
        1. He has pulled us out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
        2. He has removed the Obama restrictions and roadblocks that were stopping the completion of the Keystone pipeline.
        3. He has instituted an executive order that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated.
    • Miranda Keefe
      June 22, 2017 at 15:08
      Yes, J.L.S., you got it so right that the media doesn’t know what is really going on out there.
      From the start they thought that Trump was an entertaining clown who’d lose and wasn’t it fun to watch it and do nothing but report it? They reinforced this by talking to each other about it.
      Then reality broke in for his crowds got bigger and they found a way to still assume he’d lose. But then he started winning primaries- which blew out their thinking he’d drop out early. But they once again convinced themselves he’d lose and the GOP would rally around one “Not-Trump.” So they reinforced this by talking to each other about it until it became the only reasonable narrative.
      But then reality broke in again for he kept winning and moved way ahead in the delegate count. But after a bit of shock they latched onto the narrative that the GOP establishment would still come together and stop him. So they reinforced this by talking to each other about it until it became the only reasonable narrative.
      But then reality broke in again for he earned enough delegates to take the nomination of the first vote. But after a bit of shock they talked to each other and adopted the narrative that the elite would create a brokered convention and a lot of his delegates would break ranks and stop him. So they reinforced this by talking to each other about it until it became the only reasonable narrative.
      But then reality broke in once more for the convention enthusiastically nominated him and he got the GOP establishment behind him. But they figured that of course his ‘basket of deplorables’ would support him but there was no way Clinton wasn’t going to win. For over three months they discussed what a loser he was and how he kept messing up. They were convinced and they reinforced this by talking to each other about it until it became the only reasonable narrative.
      But then the reality broke in and Clinton lost the Rust Belt and Trump was elected. They were in shock for weeks and in tears that night. But then they began discussing how the Electoral College surely couldn’t elect him, after all Clinton won the popular vote and Trump is an idiot and the Obama administration was already floating this idea of Russiagate, so surely some electors would be faithless and the House would pick and in order to have an alternative some Democratic electors decided to be faithless and vote for Colin Powell so he’d have some votes and the House could choose him. So they reinforced this by talking to each other about it until it became the only reasonable narrative.
      But then the reality broke in and the College did it’s job. But since then there hasn’t been any elections for reality to break in again. So for six months now they have talked to each other and ignored the reality. They’ve convinced themselves the vast majority of the nation thinks like them. They think Russiagate will work and that the Democrats will sweep to majorities in 2018 and retake the White House in 2020, maybe even with Clinton as the nominee, if not Identity Politics alternative Corey Booker.
      This little reality in Georgia will make them wonder a bit, but they’ll go back to talking to themselves only and reinforcing their narrative until 2018 puts them in shock for another month.
        Trump ended the Obama Democratic Transpacific Partnership in the first week of his Presidency He also walked away from the the Democratic Obama Paris Climate Agreement which forced working Americans to pay taxes for energy and heating their homes while China, Mexico and India did not have to reduce emissions. All for an agreement which if it went well, would decrease global climate by 0.2 degrees. And what was left of American factories would have moved to these three countries.
        Now those are two very good differences between Trump and Clinton\Obama that I can see and crossed the lines and voted for the Donald.
        This great article was a year too late.
          “-Obama Paris Climate Agreement which forced working Americans to pay taxes for energy and heating their homes while China, Mexico and India did not have to reduce emissions.”
          1. Obama insisted it be voluntary ie useless. USA citizens pay tiny amounts for their large per capita use of energy compared with almost anyone else except their friends the Saudis.
          2. The USA uses far more than any other nation PER CAPITA including wasteful heating, clothes drying, big SUVs while China and India have majorities with tiny energy footprints. You always assume poor USA is helping others. It never is.
      Lesser evil? HRC’s evil goes back (at least) to the Balkan wars. To the extent that Trump is evil (looks like that so far) she shares blame for that. The DNC purposely ran a “pied piper” strategy with their MSM lackeys to pump up Trump at the expense of other candidates such as Rand Paul who they feared would trounce HRC rather handily.
      Also, don’t confuse an anti-establishment vote with a vote for Trump. Just as voters voted against the establishment when the voted for Brexit, the voted against the establishment when they voted against May.
        Ah, good point:
        The Democratically created Frankenstein (Trump) ravages the land and they can’t find the off button. ROFLOL!! That was supposed to be the Billy Bush Sex Tapes released before the second debate, no doubt. Imagine if the Democrats actually had a dram of ethics and ran a fair nomination process (and not corrupted the Hillary investigation) their candidate would have been Biden or Sanders. And had they had their media friends released the sex tapes when they first were discovered (like responsible journalists), during the Republican nomination process, no way Trump would have been the Republican nominee. Instead they decided to be “clever” (swift boating) with the timing of the sex tape and made sure the media gave Trump two billion dollars of free media coverage (Pied Piper Strategy) drowning out all the other Republican candidates.
        Ironically, had the Democrats been fair and ethical, the United States would not be where it is right now. The election would have been Biden-Sanders vs Bush-Rubio or some similar combination. Yes, Trump is a Democrat created Frankenstein, so we ought to be asking ourselves, if this Democrats could not pull off a simple election rigging, why should they be entrusted with running the country or the world?
        And now they are off blaming Russia, bringing us closer to a real conflict and have tied Trump’s hands to do anything about with accusations of collusion and obstruction.
