We Do A Lot More Than Our ‘Obsession’ With Assange

The Julian Assange story is not the only one being misreported. So is Russiagate, Ukraine, and the Middle East.

This month a reader left this comment beneath one of our articles:

It is comments like that that help keep us going here at Consortium News, especially in an online environment in which there is so much vitriol thrown around.  It also reinforced the point that though we’ve become known for our comprehensive and detailed coverage of the Julian Assange case, there is a lot, lot more to Consortium News.

Assange is a historic figure in a historic case and the importance of the story justifies the coverage we give it. One of our guiding principles is also to fill in the huge gaps in corporate media coverage of various stories, and Assange is just one of them.

We broke ground with our coverage of Russiagate, spearheaded by our late founder Robert Parry, who first extensively corrected the record on Ukraine, a story still being dangerously misreported in the corporate press.  The Middle East, from the Palestinian question, to machinations in the Gulf, to tensions with Iran is another core focus of our reporting to take angles suppressed in establishment media. You will also find here some of the best writing on intelligence matters, U.S. militarism and geo-strategy, European politics, African and Latin American affairs, climate change and labor.

We are a wide-ranging newspaper in cyberspace, with writers like John Pilger, Diana Johnstone, Scott Ritter, Patrick Lawrence and John Kiriakou.  So please help us with our Winter Fund Drive so we can meet our costs and continue delivering news, analysis and commentary you’ll find almost nowhere else. And maybe pick up the education you never got in school.

I agree, and support you. Obsession is needed to counteract the lack of interest and commitment to truth of so many people, who prefer to remain uninformed or just follow the latest repeat of the official version of any item of news.

You never have to justify your efforts on behalf of Julian Assange, CN.
Your contribution to the real truth is unquestioned making you almost unique in this current day and age.

    More strength to you.

CN’s coverage of Julian Assange is NOT “obsessive”, it is a priority.

Reading on both on both sides of the propaganda wall allows readers to see the degree of distortion of truth between the MSM and independent media. It is also notable that independent sources are giving better coverage on shoestring budgets than the corporate media.
