WATCH: Assange’s Father on US Tour–First Stop Miami

Julian Assange’s father John Shipton begins a month-long, 17-city U.S. tour in Miami as his son languishes in Belmarsh Prison in London awaiting a U.S. appeal against the denial of his extradition. Watch the replay.

Scroll down for live video.

Organized by Assange Defense, John and Gabriel Shipton, Julian Assange’s father and brother, will begin the #HomeRun4Julian tour in Miami on June 6 via a live-streamed event. The Shiptons are scheduled to make stops on both coasts and the Midwest before concluding the tour in the nation’s capital.

Assange’s family members will meet with activists, press, and policymakers to raise awareness of the importance of protecting whistleblowers and journalists, and to advocate for the release of Julian Assange, whom the United Nations has declared “arbitrarily detained” since 2010. On the question of how Assange, an Australian acting outside the U.S., was indicted under the U.S. Espionage Act, see here.  On the evolution of the Espionage Act and how Assange was ensnared by it, see here.

I feel sick inside as we watch sadists Joe Biden and Boris Johnson continue to torture an innocent man.

This global tour receives no publicity whatsoever in corporate media. Assange has in Apartheid South Africa style become a “Banned” person, eliminated from public consciousness.

Welcome to John and Gabriel! Meet John and Gabriel as they tour the U.S. from east to west. Engage others to come to the events planned along the route. For example, on June 19, people will be able to talk with John and Gabriel in Milwaukee at the Sunburst Sculpture at the end of Wisconsin Avenue overlooking the lake from 10 a.m. until noon. Check out AssangeDefense.org for information about Julian and AssangeDefense.org/tour for stops along the tour.

On June 13, Assange Defense will sponsor a panel with Fidel Narvaez (Ecuadorian consul for several years while Julian had asylum in the London embassy), John Kiriakou (torture whistleblower) and Ray McGovern (27-year CIA Russia analyst and co-founder of VIPS) with an update by John and/or Gabriel about the tour so far. Details will be posted soon at AssangeDefense.org .

Any “media” outlet that has not been unequivocally demanding Assange’s unconditional release has long lost any claim to be a journalistic organization. That’s my standard, and according to that standard, the overwhelming majority of so called media outlets disqualify.

Clearly this is an attempt to execute one of the most courageous journalists of our time.

What ever happens to Julian the message of courage and determination for the truth will echo for generations to come. A voice that has awakened countless hearts of people around the world to the corrupt nature of their own criminal governments.
As a person of faith I know that hope in a higher power (Jesus Christ) can be such a strength for those going through times of persecution such as Julian is unjustly experiencing.
My heart and prayer is that Julian is experiences peace and strength during his ordeal in our own British Belmarch Prison, a prison that is known for custody of hardened criminals which Julian is definitely not…how can he be, for he is not convicted of any unlawful offence!
How long shall we go on being so blind to what is happening under our very Noses? Awake O sleepers, O wake!
