As we approach the halfway mark of this president’s first term, it’s good to consider the top seven reasons why he is so much better than his predecessor.
As we approach the halfway point of President Joe Biden’s first term, it’s probably a good time to talk about all the wonderful things he has done for the world and remind ourselves how bad it would have been if the election results had turned out differently in November 2020.
Here are the top seven reasons why I’m very glad Joe Biden won that election instead of the evil, sinister Donald Trump.
1. Trump would have continued abusing immigrants and keeping kids in cages.
Thank goodness that’s over now!
Joe Biden has 5000 illegals locked up in a facility that has the maximum capacity of 1000 people. Yet the “kids in cages” group is staying silent on this one. pic.twitter.com/q0tmpcuxuZ

2. Trump was normalizing and whitewashing neo-Nazis.
Neo-Nazis! Can you believe it? Actual neo-Nazis! Why’d we even fight a world war only to turn around and start getting cuddly with Nazis?
There are thousands of videos and photos, even in mainstream media outlets like CNN here, showing Ukrainians wearing Nazi symbols and doing fascist salutes.
This is not a "fringe minority." The US-sponsored, fascist-led coup in Ukraine in 2014 led to widespread Nazi infiltration https://t.co/o9uR9iGbWe
— Ben Norton (@BenjaminNorton) November 14, 2022
It’s legitimately difficult to express how disgusting and deceitful this is. Open, shameless and deliberate whitewashing and rehabilitation of an overtly Nazi group as “an elite battalion challenging its far right reputation”. The epitome of inventing reality. pic.twitter.com/q17o4ZemmZ

3. If Trump had won, the war in Yemen would still be underway.
I’m so grateful Joe Biden won so that he could fulfill his campaign promise and end the worst mass atrocity in the world.

4. Without President Biden, the Iran nuclear deal would still be dead.
One of the most dangerous things Trump did during his presidency was inflame tensions in the Middle East by tearing up the JCPOA. Thank goodness he didn’t win, otherwise Biden wouldn’t have been able to set things right and restore the deal so that tensions can begin to de-escalate.

5. Trump would have kept inflating America’s already bloated military budget.
Luckily, we’ve got President Biden in charge, who understands that militarism only leads to more war and all those hundreds of billions can better serve the American people at home.

6. Roe v Wade would be dead if Trump had gotten another term.
Fortunately, the American people heeded the Democratic Party’s warnings and prevented the U.S. from turning into an embarrassing backwards Puritanical theocracy where women are forced to carry pregnancies to term.
Joe Biden, who as a Senator voted to repeal Roe v Wade, is now waging his finger at abortion rights activists for going too far

7. Trump would probably have us on the brink of World War III by now.
That crazy guy would probably have us staring down the barrel of nuclear Armageddon if he’d won re-election.
Thank God he didn’t win!

Yessir, there sure are a lot of reasons to be thankful things turned out the way they did on that crucial November day. Three cheers to the man who saved us from the awful fate of what could have been! Three cheers for President Trump!
I mean Biden.
President Biden.

This is a serious question I have asked since I was 18. But Trump and Biden crystalize the question.
IS THIS THE BEST WE CAN DO? In all of the United States these two are the finest representatives the people of the US?
We have had a problem since the assassination of JFK.
US electionps are meaningless rituals, like electi0ons in the Roman Empire.
H.L. Mencken: “As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents… the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”
Written 100 years ago this quote sums up US politics perfectly.
The US is entering the last years of their imperium because:
a courtier class responsible only to oligarchs has replaced genuine leadership and
public participation;
US allies and the rest of the world can’t distinguish the US from the worst kind of dictator;
American adversaries now look like soft beds of reason, restraint, and stability;
an immense US military is incapable of winning the smallest wars, or even retaining
the allegiance of its junior officers;
praetorian guards are created loyal only to money and cruelty (BORTAC – US
Marshals – Blackwater – DynCorp – Executive Outcomes – Sandline International);
the economy is used like a casino to enrich the unworthy;
children are used to punish immigrant families fleeing US imperial savagery in their
own countries;
the most recent generations are the worst educated since 1776 as science, schools,
libraries, an independent press, and dissenting voices are crushed by corporate
design;
resurgent bigotry is aided by brutally stupid police and a corrupt justice system;
ruthless violence is blessed by empty prayers and Hollywood blockbusters;
vast numbers of citizens parade their ignorance around like they have just married a
supermodel.
These are all signs of a society about to collapse with only a minor environmental disaster needed to start the landslide, out of the ecosystem armageddon certain to come.
H. L. Mencken (1880 – 1956): “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”
William Casey (CIA Director 1981-1987): “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”
Americans have been lying to themselves for decades, if not centuries, so the logical conclusion has them electing proudly ignorant, bare-faced liars like Obama, Trump, the Shrubs, and Nixon. The world can no longer pretend US citizens know anything about the world, their own best interests, or the best interests of their longest allies and best friends. Americans can’t be expected to defend democracy, expand human rights, maintain an incorruptible rule of ‘law’, or manage a most important part of world’s economy.
Alexis de Tocqueville: “All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.”
America has never been a democracy as the Constitution was designed to ignore everyone but rich, white males. US society has always been defined by greed, legal theft, racism, genocides, and lynch mobs. US citizens are so criminally witless they won’t support human rights by getting down on one knee; they would rather get down on both knees and beg for social media.
George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796: “The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”
This Andrew Bacevich article is an impressive summary of the social ills Trump displays:
hxxps://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/04/08/all-his-endless-lies-trump-has-exposed-some-important-truths
Eduardo Galeano: “My great fear is that we are all suffering from amnesia. It’s not a person. It’s a system of power that is always deciding in the name of humanity who deserves to be remembered and who deserves to be forgotten.”
Yes, but a Trump second term would already have meant the end of the START treaty governing strategic nuclear missiles and bombers. As it is, the treaty still has another three years to run.
In addition, the USA would almost certainly have withdrawn from the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty by now as a ‘Russia might be cheating’ narrative had already begun towards the end of Trump’s first term.
So where do we go from here?
Well, it is important to recognise that elections can only achieve so much. Any president does not have a free hand. If a president were to offend too many powerful interests then he could expect to be ousted like President Nixon or assassinated like President Kennedy.
In order to help overcome this problem people need to demonstrate, right to their elected representatives etc. Our top priority needs to be to end the war in the Ukraine.
It s not clear that the U.S. has the ability to end the war in Ukraine save by ceasing to support it (a politically difficult task as observed in your next-to-final paragraph).
Great stuff Caitlin!
I’ve pondered the current condition of the two party system, especially since the Obama ” wave of change”largely failed at delivering anything remotely resembled extent of change needed to move this country in a more constructive direction.
Things in Washington have been “off ” for a long time but 911 changed everything. All one must do is examine the OHS and the changes in our government in the name of national security. The democratic leadership failed Obama and the country because they couldn’t find a way free of the grip the military and pro authoritarian lobby. They were lazy, greedy and failed to overcome the republicans in any meaningful way while this party of “NO” dug their heels in. Too much in-house bickering about the first black male president.
The republicans defaulted to Trump showing their lack of interest in saving the Union, dems ran Hilary in spite of all the indications that the public desired a big change. No surprise Trump prevailed as the politicians went for the money and not meaningful changes in government. The Patriot Act settled in and the nation suffered as a consequence.
Trump, and this should have came as NO surprise to anyone, prevailed and intimidated almost everyone in D.C. and the media by way of becoming a threatening bully capable of bringing the roof down on everyone.
He couldn’t in the end and is suffering the consequences of the absence of any cogent thought. The democrats had they been smart would have found a great candidate, the leadership deferred to their fund raising old time “dead” party politics.
No one wanted any more of the orange turd and the democratic party mistakenly opted for taking the easy way out and not seeking real change in the ” old time worn-out “, “we will take the high ground” mantra that had already lost the respect of the younger population.
Thanks for not one dog damned thing democrats! It is hard to believe democrat neocons prevailed but they did and it’s killing the country.
Spoiler Alert Kiddies. Wake the hell up! OKAY??
In this country the most violent of attacks on the public are by homegrown madmen. Our government pulled the wool over everyone eyes big time. SEE 911.
Yesterday Beau of the Fifth Column posted this on the Utube, “Let’s talk about the numbers needed to defend the U.S.” The Office of Homeland Security is ruse promising something impossible, neither needed of justified. Full Stop!
Go watch Baeu’s post and think about my closing here.
The war in the Ukraine is being fought in the Ukraine by Ukrainians. This would most likely never occur in the U.S. and I believe serves old time D.C the utility of diversion of the public focus. We did suffer a grievous attack on the Constitution from a sitting potus and his minions. And the government apparatus failed to prevent it.
I smell a load of rat shit.
I have a message to the dems and the repubs best get you shit together, your propaganda is terrible, lies so bad they foul the air. As for the national security apparatus, keep your paws off the American Public or else.
This should not be construed as a threat from me of any kind. I don’t need to do anything because if the bull shit in DC continues things here may reach a breaking point. We need a new party, quick, hear that Dems.
If you don’t understand watch Beaus “Lets talk about the numbers needed to defend the U.S.”. You don’t have to like it but consider yourself warned.
You see I don’t believe for a second the republicans are finished “tearing down” the country. SEE battle for the speakership. At this point in time all things seem to point out that the democrats don’t care as long as the ‘SPIN” towards authoritarian rule continues. Prove me wrong!
Thanks CN
In one episode of the Vietnam war, an infamous meme emerged ——> “We had to destroy the village to save it”. Huh? Say what!? Oh, of course – save it from communism! That meme may be writ large as US imperial managers ponder if nukes will be needed to ‘destroy the world to save it’ (from being a multi-polar world, of course).
I detest Trump. However, it should be noted that there was NEVER a principled objection to his policies FROM THE LEFT within the Dem. political establishment. First, Russiagate was launched not only as a deflection for how Clinton lost, but, as a scheme to portray Trump as ‘Putin’s puppet’. Trump had temporarily suspended shipments of weapons to Ukraine while he assessed the situation. For the Dems, that was the crime of the century. ALL of Dem Party opposition to Trump revolved around the supposition that he was not militant enough toward Russia. This is why the ruling elite favored Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020.
Indeed, any anti-war activism (weak as it is) seems to go silent when a Dem is president. Same goes for treatment of immigrants at the border. ————-nicely done, Caitlin
I think, since Kennedy, we never again had a real statesman with charisma, character, and vision for president.
The credit for LBJs great society was lost in Vietnam and Carter was defamed, after Carter came Reagan and it went steadily downhill. W. Bush, Trump, and Biden are the worst presidents ever, Obama was a fake, he never deserved the Nobel peace Prize, he does have an excuse, Republicans kept their word and worked for failed government with no regard for the nation.
Biden was VP for two terms, and decades in congress and learned nothing, except how to make money.
Ukrainian people voted for peace when they elected Zelensky, we voted for the rational government when we elected Biden, so much for honesty in politics. We should have known who is in charge of elections, certainly not the people who count the votes.
I never regretted my vote as much as this time, not expecting much but not so much plain evil, not a killer for president.
Morally Biden and his administration and congress are on a level with Hitler.
You wrote: Trump would probably put us on the brink of World War III. Probably!
But aren’t we already teetering on the brink of World War III, adding fuel to the fire of the conflict in Ukraine?
I was told that if I voted for Trump these things would happen. They were right.
One must take these “reasons” one at a time to put them into some perspective for those who casually read this.
1. Did opening the border and pushing policy that attracted massive caravans do this country any good?
It opened an essentially unpoliced border to drug importation, because Biden’s election and America’s subsequent mass migration crisis has bestowed such fabulous riches upon criminal organizations that traditional drug trafficking is no longer the only prize worth dying for. Nowadays, Mexican cartels are battling one another for control of an illegal immigrant smuggling boom. And the bonanza of illicit gains from it are being spent on growing and arming the ranks of the cartels’ paramilitary armies – creating a economic and national security threat to the United States.
And it takes to long to identify all the misinformation involved in immigrant abuse, and kids in cages.
2. Trump was normalizing and whitewashing neo-Nazis.–This demands an analysis of what is meant when the left aligns almost anything republican with alt-right and the right often aligns democrats with antifa. Identifying opponents with extremes is par for the course. And falling for this is a sign of a serious lack of analytic ability.
3, 4. 5, 6, are granted possibilities.
7 Trump would probably have us on the brink of World War III by now is ridiculous, given Trump deflated war potentials with North Korea and Russia just by being willing to talk with them.
And Biden has on the edge of nuclear war by supporting policy moves that ousted in 2014 the democratically elected president of Ukraine and pushing to what now exists, fighting a proxy war against Russia.
And yes, given how money controls our system today, it doesn’t matter who is elected, essentially the same things will occur but possibly in a different manner.
Biden is a warmongering neocon hawk. And it seems like no Democrats in Congress object. Even Bernie and the squad vote in lockstep with the rest of the party.
Outstanding article!
TRUTH: Clear conscious!
Welcome to The Malarky Factory.” Color it Orange!!! Or Blood Red!

But the Ayatollahs aka The $upreme Court said for the purpose of removing thousands of immigrants, TITLE 42 says “The RONA” is back!!! Get “Em Outta Here! Basically, it’s f/epic!!!
And, IF, this old, perverted man, Joey “Patriot Act” Biden keeps a yappin’; &, Congress keeps a clappin’, They gonna light up the Planet.
MEMO TO: Biden-Harris, “EVERYBODY already knows what you’ve done is f/criminal!!!. “You ain’t foolin’ anybody anymore but you and your personal gaggle of honkin’ fools. So, give it a rest, old man. You’re comin’ off punchdrunk. Like, the rope-a-dope ain’t never worked. You took too many hits.”
Besides DECEPTION, DESTRUCTION, DEATH all ya got left; “Except to jerk yerself with your own petard to rattle & twist in a wicked wind like an old reed, as you slowly go to seed.”
Fingers crossed, Congress course corrects. Serves Up the 25th Amendment. Nooooobody needs to live under the 24/7 threat of Joey Biden &/or Comma La Harris in command of the Nuclear Codes. The Party of War is in The House; and, “we” are f/jacked!
Great article, you almost had me going, Babylon Bee would be proud.
The Uniparty rules in the USA, just as variations of the same rule the other western regimes. The voters only have one choice don’t vote, otherwise you are complicit. Thank goodness for BRICS.
There is no substantive difference between the two sides – and no reason to think so. Everyone presents themselves as principled, but always acts out of interest – for power. That is bringing humanity to WW III.
Yes, the differences between Gog and Magog are mostly a matter of style – which seems to be what really irritated Dems about Trump. I think he was a terrible President, to say nothing of embarrassing, but at least he didn’t start any new wars.
All of this says to vote 3rd Party; there are the Greens, or Libertarians if you lean the other way. Both are peace parties, at least in the US. And the Green Party now has less than two years to find good candidates and fight the ballot access wars.
There is no real real differences between the two parties when you follow the money. Look at opensecrets.org and compare and analyze for yourself. It is supposed to be government by and for the people, not the elites.
There are surface differences between the two potus mentioned is a given, but who financially supports them?
Both parties contribute to our national debt, military financing, and continue to borrow money from social security.
As for Bernie, he betrayed his supporters and is now part of the corrupt political collective.
Where are the reforms to make things right for the people?
Any Bernie supporters who feel betrayed really weren’t paying attention to his words and to how consistently he has adhered to them for his entire three-plus decades in national government. Such people clearly projected their own ideas about how best for him to act regardless of how it would affect his still continuing ability to influence the national conversation (and in at least some ways national legislation) about serious reforms.
The ;obvious question is what have THEY accomplished in such areas that makes them so confident that he was wrong.
All that’s left is the moment when Biden, about to press the button demolishing world history, turns to the camera in his bunker and proclaims “I’ve saved humanity! – while still keeping in place the usurious interest rates Delaware requires for the whole country.” When you have an entire media lying for you, why should truth intrude?
True true but you know what I would vote for Biden again no doubt. I wish we had actual realistic choices but this is sadly what we get. I think that Lockheed and Raytheon etc. Get what the want no matter what and no matter who is president. I can’t vote for trump because I just don’t want Christian nationalism, in your face corruption and the dismantling of the government. Ok I guess I like my corruption more hidden lol … There are other reasons I never want to see trump as president again. We are probably looking at a mini trump such as desantis running but the gop is so distasteful today that I honestly think Joe bidens corpse could win again in 2024.
We need to stop voting for Democrats & Republicans in the national elections, if not altogether, it’s the only way to stop this bipartisan madness- votes for them give them the veneer of credibility they need, so they both need to be boycotted entirely.
Donald Duck is a good name to remember . Or Stormy Daniels.
A vote for Biden was a vote to destroy the world economy. Mission accomplished. War with Russia? Can do. People all around the world are suffering thanks to the pettiness, smugness and arrogance of people who voted for a lifelong grifter who cannot speak in complete sentences without spouting gibberish or lying or both. Hatred of Christians is religious bigotry.
I meant: freedom of religion and freedom of religion. As someone else said we have a choice between corporate warmongering party 1 and corporate (slightly less?) Warmongering party 2 which is no choice at all. We are all screwed :( hopefully things will change before the world is carelessly destroyed by climate change or nuclear war
pettiness, smugness and arrogance of people who voted for a lifelong grifter… That sounds like it applies to trump and trump voters … Like others have said we have a choice between corporate warmongering party 1 and corporate (slightly less?) warmongering party 2… We are screwed. Hopefully changes happen before climate change or nuclear war start the extinction of civilization. If trump wasn’t arrogant and stupid he would be president right now so I will blame him for this war but it doesn’t matter now. Let’s say trump won and Putin decides to roll over Ukraine unimpeded. It is my thinking that he just might keep going and we would probably end up in this nato vs. Russia situation over Poland or some other country anyway. Our corporate overlords love the war industry no matter who is in charge. And btw I don’t hate christians I pretty much do dislike most religions. The u.s. was founded on freedom from and freedom of religion and it should stay that way.
Caitlin, you should notify your readers that sarcasm is only one of the services you provide. You should also admit that all these losers – Biden, Trump, Clinton, and several more beyond that are all just members of the corporate warmonger party. As Putin put it best, Presidents come and go but the policies never change. You’re not going to get something different by voting either democrat or republican.
Are you kidding me, Caitlin? If 2022 has shown us anything, it has shown us that the DEMOCRATS are to be feared, far worse than any Republican out there! I really am so disgusted with that headline I almost cannot even find the energy to debate it. Biden is the reason 120,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died. That figure could be an underestimation, in the light of history to come. Biden is the reason for the sanctions against Russia which have plunged the whole of Europe into depression financially, economically, and caused the deindustrialization of Germany. History may yet show us this was a deliberate, planned, projected scheme to ensure continued USA dominance, hegemony in what is undoubtedly a dying Empire. Already there are whispers re the Rand report that this is so. Biden has a history as a warmonger, and Hillary Clinton is perhaps the worst war crimes perpetrator America has ever known. I commend you to read Gaddafi’s political record, what he did for his people; then try to marry that with Clinton’s disgustingly vile comment on his Nazi style execution, complete with anal raping via a sword. “We came, we saw, he died,” she gleefully said. NEVER try to tell me or anyone else that Trump would have been a worse option. You are living the lie that Democrats are not Nazis. They are, that’s a fact. Somewhere, somehow, along the way, the Dems got infiltrated by the most evil people imaginable.
The whole piece was sarcastic, in case you missed it….
As the old saying goes “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”.
Baloney. That’s the pun.
Yes, but the sarcasm that boils down to, Biden is just as bad if not worse than Trump. It still comes across as a left-handed compliment to Trump. Trump had a booming economy before the bioweapon was released. Everything written by Ms. Valemont about Biden is the absolute truth. Biden destroys everything he touches, torching $trillions while collecting $millions in tribute via his family influence peddling. He is the lowest of the low.
As a lifelong democrat who ran for office as a Dem I am now firmly in your camp Pamela
Note on corporate media… Even if voters were informed there was no way to know in Nov. 2020 that Biden would help lead to the destruction of Ukraine. The nuances of the Ukraine issues of the last 8 yrs at the time of the election were boiled down to “trump tried to blackmail zelensky Biden wouldn’t do that would he?”. Hindsight is always 20/20
Yes, Caitlin, your points are well-taken. But Trump was threatening the legitimacy of US democracy!
What legitimate American democracy? The electoral college…
irony aside, what about those knowing voices (not ironic) who did fear Trump´s 2nd term?
Disregard them or not?
Noam Chomsky e.g. did fear especially in regard of growing violence by far right mob and climate issues.
(actually he sees the danger still growing even without DT and regardless of the Midterm results)
Threats don´t always come with clear red flags attached.
Consequences can arise years later. As we can see with the Supreme Court.
I myself am undecided on this. But that´s for lack of the necessary knowledge to judge this properly
Excellent examples of S&MRPG
(Savage & Mulish Rampaging Pachyderm Governance)
Indeed, thank you. Biden, just as HRC was, is much more competent than Trump. The important consideration however is, competent in service of what?
Everything that Biden has done, I expected from HRC. It seems that promoting wealth concentration, war, and environmental destruction to the point of making the survival of our species on this planet untenable are now the bones and marrow of the “democratic in name only Party.” Irony of ironies, Trump gave us a six year reprieve only so Biden could swoop in and in just two years time implement the agenda that HRC was frothing at the mouth to carry out. It is truly the DINO Party’s own so-many-ways-to-extinction agenda.
Especially egregious though is how Biden almost single-handedly may have sealed the fate of humanity. The whole “game of thrones” business is bad and dangerous enough. But these games are still within the realm of human negotiations. In contrast, there is no negotiating with Nature; tipping points are forever and it will never be more cost effective to take action to mitigate climate change than it is right now. Day by day, the price only goes up. In fact there is only one fundamental ingredient that can mitigate the consequences of global warming and that is cooperation. That is, international cooperation among every nation on earth because, of course, the problems are global and the solutions must be too.
Rather than America under Biden leading the world to a safe, survivable and even prosperous future based on building the utterly essential ties of trust and cooperation between the nations of the world, Biden deliberately started Cold War II and foreclosed on any chance of that. He could not have come up with a more effective way to make humanity extinct on this planet. Not to mention that of all the players that are benefiting from our new Cold War paradigm, not a one was ever on the side of preserving the ecosystems of our world or protecting societies and life. Actually, they have been fighting tooth and nail in opposition and instead have been working tirelessly to expand the rape-the-earth-party that has been in full swing since the beginning of the industrial revolution. What an incredible coincidence!
There is just no way that Trump could have garnered the international support among the Western powers for this new Cold War construct. I’m pretty sure that the petty leaders of the EU, the five eyes, etc. were always eager to join in but with Trump as the front man leading the US, they could never have sold it to their respective populations. There just would have been too much ballast to get that balloon off the ground. No wonder America’s neocon riddled elite were desperate to stop Trump and install Biden. Biden gave every other feckless Western leader the cover to carry this out. And now, here we are.
I still don’t know if I could ever vote for Trump if he runs but there is no way that I will ever support a dino-Party candidate. I made that choice in 2016 and they have only confirmed the validity of that stand. But if it even looks like the dino candidate, whoever it is, has a chance, I just might break my own rule, hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils. Since they are all evil to the core, this is a situation where incompetence is a virtue.
Just stop voting (R) or (D) in the presidential elections, and maybe we have a chance of ending the duopoly-reign. The lesser-of-two-evils rationalization just doesn’t justify it anymore, it just makes things worse.
J Anthony: Yes, I agree. That’s my rule as well, never to vote LOTE, and what I have been doing until now. You are correct that that has been a major factor in bringing us to the untenable political state that we are now in. I will continue, but if it seems that DP candidates ever have a chance to win again, I will vote against.
The bottom line is that if the Dems stay in power they will absolutely continue as they have and though they are incompetent at doing anything of actual value they have been skillful enough, though that may fade fast, at keeping the Western alliance intact enough to kill us all. They are literally insane with their ethnic bigotry to the point of flirting with nuclear war. They have to go. War mongers are the absolute bane of civilization, a cancer in the bowels of humanity.
I’m old enough to remember that time when Bernie Sanders famously promised his flock that the Biden administration would be the most progressive of any presidency in history, or some such gibberish to that effect.
Ba-a-a-a!
You’re obviously somewhat too old to remember that statement accurately. Bernie said multiple times that a Biden administration COULD be the most progressive in history, not only at a time when Biden was making moderately progressive noises (but hardly actual commitments) and the Democratic establishment had arranged for Biden’s largely moribund campaign to win the Democratic nomination and after that nomination became fact and the alternative to supporting Biden was you-kn0w-who, who Bernie really, really didn’t want to be president, recalling Bernie’s 2016 promise to support the eventual nominee when he expressed his personal support and vigorously campaigned for Hillary vs. Trump but made it clear that she had to EARN the support of Bernie’s supporters).
Thanks Caitlin, but I’m sure sophistication has been Dumbed-Out by the corporate media. Definitely irony is extinct here in Australia. We are a simple people who interpret simply, and literally. No doubt CN readers are more intelligent and can see your wit, but the (vast) majority will take you literally. (Historic footnote: in 1996 PM Paul Keating referred to the LNP leader, a man unable to separate truth from lies, ironically as “Honest John” Howard. The dumbos took the title literally and John surfed it to victory.).
That’s why honest John’s moniker later had to be changed to “lying rodent” so the public would bo longer be misled
If it’s a “Good Thing Biden Beat Trump” in 2020, it’s a better thing that he will not be mentally capable of running again in 2024, because the ‘head’ of any government shall contain more than the vacuity of mind he is already displaying right now, unless of course today’s puppet masters decide otherwise!
After all, the American public has bought every criminality he has committed so far, in his underhanded career, just as they have bought Trumps.
The clandestine ‘puppet masters’ may decide that they can get away with anything; even with embalming him, and faking it for another four years.
For the blind faith believers among us, proverb 19:21 “Man proposes, god disposes” appears to be an adequate assumption. After all, this life here on Earth is merely a dress rehearsal for those blessed with moving on to heaven; “all ‘others’ pay cash” – are the systems cannon fodder.
Technology has come so far, so fast, it is now possible to doctor all media and imagery; for it to be easy to convince the gullible to believe everything they hear, read and/or see.
So then, what’s a bad thing?
If the criminals in government, every four years, continue to be permitted to walk away from, and go unpunished, for their misdeeds while in the hire of and in service to the best interests of all of the people.
Sorry to say, America was not founded on the presumption that government shall serve all the people equitably.
Democracy is nothing other than a construct of the human mind! Just ask Edward Bernays!
A second term President Trump would surely still have publisher Julian Assange locked away in a maximum security prison in London awaiting extradition to the US to face charges under the Espionage Act and another 175 years in prison.
While Trump undoubtedly would have gone after Assange if he had been re-elected, it also needs to be pointed out that the Biden administration is trying their best to extradite Assange to this country because he dared to expose U.S. war crimes to the world.
Caitlin,
Had an actual ripple of shock at the title of your article, then proceeded to laugh all the way through, even though it was all depressing as all get out. As someone said (Mark Twain?): there’s only one Party, the War Party.
Keep up your piercing work. Thanks.
I confess that #7 worries me the most these days.
That, and President Joe Biden himself, or course. Add in, Mark Milley, Lloyd Austin, Jake Sullivan, Antony Blinken, Susan Rice, William Burns, Janet Yellen, Merrick Garland, Pete Buttigieg, and Christopher Wray and we have quite a collection of painfully confident decision makers.
What could possibly go wrong in all of Ukraine right now? D*MN!
Républicain ou Démocrate?
Choléra ou peste?
Oui, c’est pareille.
So here we are: a 79 year old beats a 76 year old. (At their age today) Might as well be an 8 year old beats a 5 year old. Same mentality.
Exactly, both as bad as each other, albeit in slightly different ways. But in both cases, I really don’t think either of them had/have much real control or decision making. The deep state is so powerful, the sitting president has little choice in many things, and can only occasionally make deals to get a changed outcome.
I appreciate Johnstone’s sarcasm. I just wonder, would she have been equally put out if Trump had won?
Absolutely, in our judgment. Read her tweets about Trump.
Hard to say: Caitlin tries to address significant myths from which the American public suffers rather than just take easy shots that support those carefully created (Russiagate, anyone?) myths (imagine the clamorous responses those who would point to Biden’s supposedly progressive ‘commitments’ would advance as absolute evidence of how much better he would have been).
Caitlin, you forgot that Biden is the most labor positive president ever! Trump would’ve stepped in to prevent labor unions from negotiating or striking, say, in the rail industry.
“Eyes wide shut”!
Didn’t Biden just sign into law, that the rail worker strikes are illegal and prohibited?
