In the wake of Britain’s race riots this summer, CN Live! interviewed Andy Robbins, one of the founders of the “Love Music Hate Racism” movement in Luton, England.
Andy Robbins is one of the co-founders in Luton, U.K. of “Love Music Hate Racism,” which creates musical and other events that bring multi-cultural communities together. The Oxford-educated activist explores some of the deeper reasons for the racial unrest in Britain this summer.
The “Love Music, Hate Racism” movement began in in 2002. Robbins helped begin its Luton branch in January 2009 after an anti-immigrant march in the city the year before. Five months later in June 2009, the now officially defunct, ultra-nationalist English Defence League (EDL) was founded by Luton-born Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson.
