WATCH: CN Live! — ‘Inside the Films of John Pilger’

CN Live! speaks to author Anthony Hayward, producer Chris Martin, journalist David Boardman, and Tom Giles, head of ITV Current Affairs, about the films of legendary journalist John Pilger and their working relationships with him.

This week the British Film Institute began paying tribute to the late filmmaker John Pilger with a series of screenings of some of his 60 films through the end of  November. As a preview, CN Live! interviewed four men who worked closely with Pilger on his films.

We intended to broadcast these interviews over the weekend before an event at the BFI on Monday about Pilger, which included a panel discussion, followed by Consortium News presenting the Gary Webb Freedom of the Press award to John Pilger’s partner Jane Hill. Unfortunately, because of the hack of Consortium News on Saturday, we were unable to present parts one and two of these interviews until now.

On the first CN Live! webcast (above) Anthony Hayward, author of In the Name of Justice: The Television Reporting of John Pilger and Chris Martin, producer and director who worked on numerous films with Pilger around the world, discuss John Pilger, the filmmaker.

In Part Two (below) David Boardman, journalist & assistant Pilger producer, and Tom Giles, head of Current Affairs, ITV, take up the discussion.  Interviewer: Joe Lauria Producer: Cathy Vogan.
