WATCH: US Abstains on UN Ceasefire Resoluton

The first resolution calling for a ceasefire was passed at the U.N. Security Council after months of trying when the United States on Monday abstained rather than issue another veto.

The U.S. blocked an effort by Russia to add the word “permanent” before “ceasefire,” however. The call is for the ceasefire to last only through Ramadan.

Nevertheless, it appears the pressure on Biden over his shameful Gaza policy is having some effect, if only because he sees his reelection slipping away.

The question remains: When will the Biden administration stop feigning criticism of Israel for its conduct, and actually stop the genocide?

Pressure is building on the US over Gaza. But when will it stop being theater? (UN TV Screenshot)

Just found out the resolution under American view is non binding.
    A neat American trick.

The rest of the world holds that all Security Council resolutions are legally binding, according to Article 25 of the UN Charter: ““The Members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the Security Council in accordance with the present Charter.”

I don’t blame the American UN Ambassador – she does as told by Washington. But I will accuse her of lacking integrity, especially as an Afro American person: she should have resigned immediately instead of partaking in this cruel and inhumane charade.

The fact that Colin Powell willingly participated in the “Iraq WMD” farce before the UN should preclude any thought that an “Afro-American” possesses any special credibility.

This sure looks like a cheap election year PR stunt to herd some of the disgruntled D faithful back into the flock. Meanwhile, the US continues to send weapons. And as has been warned about for months, disease starvation and massive death continues to get worse.

The narrative from now til election day is that even though Genocide Joe is evil, we must vote for him anyway because Trump. Just like last election cycle…

The rogue state will ignore the resolution, just as it ignored the orders handed down by the International Court of Justice.

Does anyone think the Biden Administration is changing policy. Think again they changed the resolution to not permanent cease fire. What does this mean a week, a month, an hour. It is bullshit.

I think the US just wants to get rid of Netanyahu and will use this temporary ceasefire to do so. Washington is trying to mitigate the damage to the US as leader of the world. Too little, too late IMO. The damage is too deep to reverse. I’m glad there will be a cessation of the killing, but if the US was concerned about the Palestinians, it wouldn’t have been against Russia’s addition of the word “permanent.”

There will be no cessation to the killing, because people will continue to starve to death.

The multi polar world is progressing, slowly but surely. Agree that this change in vote from against to abstain is too little, too late. I will add, WAY too late. Washington DC foreign policy is stuck in 1990. 1990 DC was dealing with pre Putin Russia, and a China just finding its legs with the BRI. 2024 DC decision making is based on the world as they would like it to be rather than the world as it is. The madness in Ukraine is just one of many examples.

“US get rid of Netanyahu” ? Are you serious ? AIPAC and Netanyahu are in way too deep with our Government. Israeli internal revolt is the only way to get rid of those serial killers.
