The “Israeli” defence seemed to amount to semantics, legalese, gaslighting and, “why does everybody pick on us”.
They make a remarkably weak case.

Well, for those that were interested …. we now know what kangaroos look like in dark robes and silly wigs. Can’t wait to see them hop. That’s surely how this ends …. with the kangaroos hopping.

What, you didn’t really think that this little big of Kangaroo theater was actually going to stop the death machine? Nope, we can look forward to a performance of Synchronized Kangaroo Hopping …. then we can get back to the task of restoring Justice to the world.

What is becoming curiouser and curiouser is this strange belief that people can ask nicely for something to happen, then they expect it to occur. When did the rich and the powerful ever give away justice without being forced into it? But hey, if we just smile and ask nicely, we are so certain that the nice kangaroos will end this genocide for us without us ever having to lift a finger ourselves. What a wonderful world that would be. But its not one I’ve seen anywhere in my lifetime.

The Genocide will end when we end it. Believing in anything else is just magical thinking.

Yeah, like you had the balls to do anything like what South Africa has done. What a despair monger you are. “Oh, well, we shouldn’t bother to support any opposition to Israeli crimes because the system is rigged, so I’ll just go back to doing nothing at all.” Some cynical shit there, pal.

Coffee Break. Interesting that the man with the wig who just finished claimed South Africa makes accusations while removing context, such as…some policy statement that includes protecting the “uninvolved” (aka civilians). Yet we saw yesterday how the Isreali boots on the ground have been led to believe there are no uninvolved, so therefore ALL people in Gaza are targets.

Also he declared that Oct 7 was (a one-day) genocide but their 90+ day bombardment is not. I’m not finding it persuasive at all. From my reading, as occupiers, though someone made a case for really it’s an annexation after all these years, “occupation” is temporary, they do NOT have the right of self-defense, but DO have the burden of protecting the Gaza population.

As a considered world leading expert on human rights, Malcolm Shaw should be ashamed to stand up in that ICJ and spout such drivel.

The fact that such a man is considered to be a leading expert on human rights should cast severe doubt upon the people who tell us who the leading experts on human rights are.

Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr were leading experts on human rights. This man is obviously not. But hey, this is capitalism, so the only thing we can be certain of was that the check to him didn’t bounce. Neither did the checks to the people who proclaimed him ‘an expert’.

Agree. And obviously his stint at the University of Jerusalem isn’t enough:

“He teaches a course on human rights at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem each year.”(wikipedia)

Remember that Israeli Zionists do not consider Palestinians to be human beings. So, according to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem he is correctly identified. It’s sick and disgusting, but what else to expect from the Israeli government?
