Economist and U.N. adviser Jeffery Sachs told the U.N. Security Council on Monday how the wars in Ukraine, Gaza, Syria and the Sahel can be quickly brought to an end.
Sachs breaks U.S.-imposed taboos on the causes of the Ukraine war, namely that it started with reckless U.S.-led NATO expansion and the violent 2014 coup.
The Security Council held the open debate Monday under the agenda item of “Maintenance of international peace and security.”
To claim to analyze the wars Ukraine, Palestine, and the Sahel without even alluding to Euro-american imperialism is naive. To pretend that the IMF is anything other than an enforcer of said imperialism is beyond naive. The day that Sachs apologizes for his role in destroying the Russian economy, is the the day I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
I thank Jeffrey Sachs from the depths of my yearning heart for his words. I have something heroic to share with my grandchildren who have the most to lose in an aimless future. There is need for the heroic in all of us…..to simply care. As Tom Paine said…The world is my Country, All Mankind are my brethren, To do good is my religion. Which is another way of describing Peace…….arlene hickory
We would be living in a better country and a better world if Mr. Sachs had been the US Secretary State for the last 20 years. Think of the contrast between Sachs and Blinken, Pompeo, Hillary Clinton, Condi Rice, and other warmongers.
It was very refreshing to hear someone of high repute among the MSM ‘tell it like it is/was’ regarding US interference and militarism around the world! That being said, the rest of his talk and prescription for ending the four(4) wars was very ‘aspirational’, to use a current cliche’, and very VERY ingenuous. He obviously knew that the US is a major source of military armaments and ‘interventions’, and no-doubt knows how the U.S. had passed a law saying that any US soldier brought before the ICC would be militarily ‘rescued’. So there’s literally NO chance that the US would go along with his solutions, and they most likely would actively work against them!
I like his proposed solutions, but sadly I see NO possible way that they could ever happen, given the realities of the US political situation.
