Caitlin Johnstone: Losing Wolf F’n Blitzer

Not since Iraq has the U.S. empire allowed itself to get caught looking this brazenly evil in front of everyone. There’s only so much propaganda spin you can put on that.

Benjamin Nentanyahu talks to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, May 24, 2011. (IsraelinUSA from Washington, D.C.)

By Caitlin Johnstone
CaitlinJohnstone.com.au

They’re dropping bombs on a concentration camp full of children. THEY’RE DROPPING BOMBS ON A CONCENTRATION CAMP FULL OF CHILDREN.

Not in the past. Right now. They’re still doing it. They show no signs of stopping.

No part of opposing this should be remotely controversial.

They’re dropping bombs on a concentration camp full of kids. Even shitlibs and pseudo-leftists who get every other foreign policy issue wrong are managing to get this one right, it’s that obvious. Anyone getting this issue wrong can be permanently dismissed without any real loss.

“Wolf fucking Blitzer was pushing back against an IDF
official about this … This is happening very
differently from most US-backed atrocities.”
https://twitter.com/caitoz/status/1719485033440838073?s=20

No matter how much you talk about Oct. 7, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

No matter how much you talk about how evil and bad Hamas are, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

No matter how much you say the words “human shields”, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

No matter how much you accuse Israel’s critics of loving terrorists, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

No matter how much you accuse Israel’s critics of hating Jews, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

No matter how many words you use or how much narrative spin you try to put on it or how many ad hominems you throw at the people criticizing what Israel is doing, it will still be a fact that Israel is raining military explosives upon a concentration camp full of children, and that it urgently needs to stop.

Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and assume that the people arguing that it’s necessary to keep dropping military explosives on a giant concentration camp full of children are on the side that will be judged negatively by history.

A huge amount of western depravity hides behind the unexamined assumption that killing people with bombs is somehow less evil than killing them with bullets or blades. By waging nonstop foreign bombing campaigns, the west desensitized the public to the reality of what bombs do.

Hamas are in the ambulances. Hamas are in the hospitals. Hamas are underneath the refugee camps. Hamas are behind the children. Maybe they’re just massacring civilians.

If a military power was just massacring thousands of civilians and then making up propagandistic lies to cover its massacres, would it look any different from what Israel’s actions and statements look like right now?

WE are the terrorists.

WE inflict violence and fear on civilian populations to advance political agendas.

WE murder babies.

WE massacre women and children.

The word “terrorism” has no meaning unless you apply it first and foremost to this murderous western civilization.

Not since Iraq has the U.S. empire allowed itself to get caught looking this brazenly evil in front of everyone. It’s always been the most murderous and depraved power structure on earth, but usually its psychopathy is more hidden and harder for the general public to understand.

And this is like if everyone was watching the Iraq invasion online in real time, with raw footage of all the civilians it’s killing flooding their social media feeds 24/7. There’s only so much propaganda spin you can put on that.

I’ve seen so many dead kids while gathering information about this massacre. Never seen so many dead kids in my life. I’m already at the point where I see kids around the neighborhood and just feel reflexively grateful that they’re standing up and moving and breathing with all their inside parts on the inside, like kids are supposed to be.

When the holocaust returned in the 21st century it came denouncing anti-semitism and wearing a Star of David.

If you’re among the millions of people who are coming to realize that the western political/media class have been lying to you about Israel-Palestine this entire time, you should probably be aware that they’ve been lying to you about every other foreign conflict as well.

Israel created Hamas, in the same way punching someone in the same place repeatedly creates a bruise. If you abuse a population with extreme aggression and deprive them of any peaceful recourse, you’re going to see violent factions emerge like a bruise on repeatedly struck flesh.

Believing you can get rid of violent resistance groups with bombs is like believing you can get rid of a bruise by punching it harder, or by switching from punching to hitting it with a bat. The more you abuse the population, the more you’re lending cause and legitimacy to the factions which endorse violent resistance to your abuses.

You don’t get rid of the bruise with more abuse, you get rid of the bruise by ceasing the abuse and doing everything you can to help heal the wound.

Caitlin, you’ve summed up this evil genocidal horror show perfectly in this piece, everything you say is 100% correct and can be backed up with real evidence, thank you so much!

Legendary and iconic German actress Marlene Dietrich left her homeland in disgust when Hitler’s National Socialist Party came to power in 1933. Years later, in the film Judgment At Nuremberg, she portrayed a type of individual that became well-known after the Second World War. A bourgeois woman, living spitting distance from a Nazi concentration camp, who claims ignorance of the human lives billowing out of crematory smokestacks. Commenting on the role, Dietrich said that she was familiar with this type of craven, infantile, morally vacuous individual and, such was her revulsion for them, she had difficulty speaking her lines; the usual “I didn’t know what was happening” crap. There are newsreels of these smartly dressed women being forced by American G.I.’s, after the liberation of camps, to view what they had ignored for years. Lampshades made of human skin, soap, of fat boiled off of inmate’s corpses, bodies discarded in heaps. Now we are witness to another genocide. An event as morally clear and plain to see as Nazi Germany’s mass slaughter of innocents. For those on the wrong side of history {who can not deny knowledge of what is unfolding}, who repeat cliches of Israel’s right to defend itself or racist caricatures of bestial untermenschen, no one will force them to physically see the mangled bodies of Palestinian children, ripped to pieces by U.S.-made bombs dropped by it’s friend in the Middle East. Barring a sea change in Israeli society, it’s unlikely that those directly responsible will face justice, though Bibi Netanyahu may find himself in a starkly furnished room made of cement, if corruption charges are finally aired in a courtroom. Biden, like other war criminal presidents before him, has little worry about; save his “legacy,” which was already a tarnished one. But the only voices that matter – of Palestinians and their supporters – are growing louder by the day. And if a sliver of self awareness presents itself to those justifying this latter-day Holocaust, they will either change for the better or stuff it back down; like the savage culture that is perpetrating it.

I seem to remember a rather inspiring story from the Observer newspaper from several years back.

A couple living in Nazi Germany had a handicapped child and sent it away for treatment. Later on, they got a letter that regretfully informed them that it had died of measles or something.

But the couple found this news rather odd as the child was back with them by this point. They had identified a Nazi euthanasia programme. They organised protests but nothing happened to them.

Two possibilities: There was a bureaucratic mistake. Alternatively, a person of conscience deliberately sent them the letter in order to help expose what was happening.

Even a government such as Hitler’s had to be careful about public opinion.

This current war is just another case of religions in action against each other — history repeating itself.

Many thanks for your extremely succinct analysis. Just as the Orthodox man I was watching talked about how Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism — like most “popular” religion it’s just a thin veneer for a social / political agenda — people seem to easily get bogged down in religious differences without thinking what so-called religion is hiding. And watching Israelis beat up or spew filth on religious Jews WITHIN ISRAEL makes it quite clear that this has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with worship of the golden calf and violence.

There’s clearly a segment of the Western ruling class that’s getting a little tired of Netanyahoo’s genocide. It’s making the elites look bad, it’s awful p.r.

Don’t get me wrong, the ultra-Zionist wing of our international ruling class is experiencing their month-long wet dream. But I can tell by some of the establishment coverage that’s starting to emerge (of course by no means a majority of the coverage) that some of the powers-that-be are finding Netanyahoo’s conduct a bit unseemly.

Joe Biden is displaying an extreme moral deficiency when he repeatedly refuses to call for what is desperately needed: a CEASE FIRE NOW, not some bogus “humanitarian pause.” I was unaware until recent days that Biden was, during his 36-year-long senatorial tenure, the number one beneficiary of the pro-Israel lobby, raking in $4.2 million, according to the Open Secrets website. So it’s hardly surprising Biden has been so one-sided and callous to the suffering of the mauled, murdered and besieged Palestinians in Gaza. Then you have the even more horrible American politicos of the Lindsey Graham variety, who openly call for the Israeli Air Force to “level the place,” i.e., “exterminate the cockroaches.” Contrast that to the opprobrium, censorship, even threats directed at demonstrators who chant the innocuous, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!” A chant very much based on geographical and historical reality.

Of course, the suffering and death of Israeli victims from the Oct. 7th Hamas attack was lamentable, in the same way that the suffering and death from the 9/11 attacks was horrifying. Yet Oct. 7th OBVIOUSLY did not arise from a vacuum, as risky as it is to point that out these days. And again, it’s OBVIOUS there is no comparison between Hamas’ military capabilities and the capabilities of Israel’s army, navy and air force, bolstered as they are by untold billions in American arms shipments.

Almost the entire western media-political-military apparatus has been functioning as an unabashed cheerleading squad for the IDF’s ongoing massacre of Gaza’s civilian population. But wait. Could it be we’re starting to see a few of those power elites becoming just a tad squeamish over the slaughter of these thousands of children? The Israeli Apartheid state’s murderous Blitz makes for bad PR. Since there’s no way for the US/Israeli juggernaut to hide its atrocities, it doesn’t bother trying. What’s even more disturbing though, is the “pride” Israel’s genocidal leadership takes in its war crimes and the glee with which the illegal “settlers” attack and kill innocent Palestinians.
Wasn’t it Voltaire who coined the phrase: “Those who make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities?”

I think you can get a very good picture of Germans cheering on the beatings and murders of [fill in the blank, what do you prefer? Slavs? Jews? anarchists? the disabled? Poles? unionists? socialists? communists?] from our contemporary landscape.

Great piece by CJ again. It is worth noting that the Zionist government of Israel takes their cue from the U.S. Using the rape and destruction of Iraq as just one example, the horrific violence being unleashed on the Gaza population is a fraction of that which was heaped on Iraq, all justified by lies. And who, of course, was an influential lie peddler of WMD? Why none other than Benjamin Netanyahu. Go figure. Remember that the infamous Madeline Albright stated that the half million dead Iraqi children as a result of U.S. sanctions “was worth it”. And the silence of the powers that be was across the board. So Caitlin, the dead children in Gaza, no matter how many, “are worth it” This is the message from Blinken, Sullivan, Biden, Rice, Trump, Desantis, Haley, Hannity, Kennedy Jr., Bush, Maddow, Obama, and their protege’s numbering in the thousands. Let’s also include the scum at the WEF. MLK Jr. nailed it 55 years ago, stating that “the greatest purveyor of violence in the worth today is my own government”. For that, he had to go.

“When the holocaust returned in the 21st century, it came denouncing anti-semitism and wearing a Star of David.” Whatever happened to the mantra “never again”? Oh, I get it. The Palestinians are of the wrong ethnicity. So very sad. Thank you, Caitlin, for your efforts to keep us informed. Don’t give up!

Thanks to Caitlin for never glossing over the truth. Truths the people of the US and the collective West desperately need to hear. The day is coming when those who took Israel’s and Washington’s side in this genocide are going to have a lot of ‘splainin’ to do to the rest of the world. Hopefully before the ICC. We can’t allow them to not act on this. Pressure is building to hold these war criminals accountable. Let’s keep it up.

You cannot depend upon the ICC. Have they ever charged a Westerner with anything? They are a toady court filled with stooges who signed off on indicting Putin for taking in Ukrainian orphans but certainly never seem to have anything to say about Western Europeans — or their bastard offspring — engaging in mass murder.

God bless you. We all are under assault from this nonstop violence. I feel the people of Israel, and I wish them only prosperity and never harm. But they cannot do what they are doing. No one can. We are all in this together. This world. This time. This is when we must all stand together for what the world should be. What it must be. And an unstoppable madman dropping bombs on the innocent endlessly is not part of the modern playbook. It can’t be. We can’t let it be. Thank you Caitlin for lending your voice.

What constantly galls me is the fact that this whole mid-east situation could most likely be mitigated down something minor IF the US stopped blindly supporting Israel — one phone call from the POTUS could stop 98% this shit. That could be done by voting for peace candidates in US elections. But my fellow Americans insist on voting otherwise so it’s hard to see how these war crimes will stop during my lifetime….

Agree with you that US involvement in the Middle East does more harm than good. That also applies to the world at large. Without US “involvement” Russia and Ukraine had a much better chance of resolving the Donbass problem. I think the same applies to Taiwan.

The $850 Billion dollar annual Department of War budget requires constant, forever war somewhere, anywhere. So that’s what the American tax payer gets. And unfortunately that’s what the world also gets.

“the people arguing that it’s necessary to keep dropping military explosives”….well, ONE of those people is the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. I just heard him LIVE on Al-Jazeera (alongside the two spinmasters from Jordan and Egypt one of who kept talking about international law and making the two state solution work…that Israel has been rejecting forever and the US sidekicking up to Israel in that decision all rhetoric notwithstanding) and he was asked point blank in the Q/A by a journalist about a ceasefire: his narrative was decidedly negative because if Israel left Hamas intact it would just continue the same thing over and over again…as if Israel and the world’s greatest democracy were EVER giving the Palestinian people, whether it was Arafat or Hamas, any viable alternative.

Johnstone writes, “Hamas are in the ambulances. Hamas are in the hospitals. Hamas are underneath the refugee camps. Hamas are behind the children. ”
That’s the IDF justification for their bombings: Hamas are the real targets, the civilians are just unfortunate ‘collateral damage.’ Their information locating Hamas members comes from the brilliant intelligence units in Israel that keep tabs on every Gazan, down to their phone numbers. Yet these same units were caught utterly flat-footed on Oct. 7. So now we are supposed to believe this bullshit about a remarkable turnaround in gathering information so they can continue their massacres.
Thanks to Johnstone for this article. It is hard to contain the rage that this genocide brings up in my guts.

I would like to appeal to CN to start an online petition to be sent to every member of Congress and to the Administration, expressing the collective rage that so many are feeling. This insanity cannot be allowed to continue, and the psychopaths who are responsible for it need to be told as much.

Democracy, human rights, free speech and the cultural and moral superiority of the West were always a bourgeois lie to justify imperialism, but between Trump, covid, Ukraine, cheering on a nazi in the Canadian Parliament and now this genocide, the mask has dissolved; the west has forever lost what little credibility it had left.

”If Israel’s earlier goal, viz., ‘Operation Protective Edge’ had already been in a position to ‘punish, humiliate, and terrorize’ the Gaza’s civilian population (Godstone Report), it would no doubt take a puffed-up and unwarranted in its alleged military prowess. However, it also put the lie to the bromide in a job well done. It does, it did.” ”Gaza” by Norman Finkelstein – 2018”.

And so the zionist goal of the total liquidation of the Palestinians was and still is the overall objective. The Kiddie-Killers and Ambulance-Bombers of the IDF are having a field day with all their plans coming into fruition. In a situation such is this mere words are insufficient to express the global outrage – particularly in the western political bloc – which appears to be looking the other way.

I have never faced such inhumanity, and all reasonableness concerning Israel has left me. I now feel a burning anger that is different to my feelings about the USA in Vietnam, the USA in Afghanistan, the USA in Iraq and the USA in Ukraine. It’s causing me to lose my own humanity. I would have crossed the road to extinguish a burning Israeli a month ago. I would not cross that road now. How can they be stealing my humanity? Are they evil itself?

    • November 4, 2023 at 14:38

I agree with Mikael, EXCEPT the part of “not crossing the road to extinguish a burning Israeli”. I cannot allow that to be true of me. I distinguish between resisters (men who refuse the military) and dissidents, and the sort of Israelis one sees cheering on soldiers shooting Palestinian children for target practice (eyes or legs preferred) or beating up Orthodox Jews or telling an Orthodox man that Hitler made a mistake and should have murdered him. I have no sympathy for such people and they cannot rob me of my humanity when they have none. I asked an Israeli a simple question: What do Israelis think of the fundamentalist Christians who are gung-ho on Israel? I got no answer, just a typical, bourgeois woman who could not answer a sincere query because it would have disturbed her comfortable alienation.
