NewsGuard has given Consortium News a red mark, warning readers to “proceed with caution” because the site “fails to adhere to several basic journalistic standards.” It states that CN reports from an “anti-U.S.” perspective and has “published false claims about the Ukraine-Russia war and other international conflicts.”

NewsGuard is a great example of the morally bankrupt faction ruining the country, at the same time a great example of the individuals who practice a corrupted set of personal values, if they have any.

Just sent another $50 and will share a few bookmarked gems from the past year to friends. The only way real journalism will survive this 10-year winter we find ourselves in is if more people are permitted to see it for themselves. Which, I suppose, is why NewsGuard is huffing and puffing so hard, after all.

NewsGuard provides reliable reporting, that is reliably the opposite of the truth. If you believe the exact opposite of everything they report, then you’ll have a fairly accurate picture of the world. I’m tempted to make a website that simply reverses everything they say; it would be more accurate than 99.9% of the media in the U.S. In fact if most Americans simply believe the exact opposite of everything they think they know about politics, they’d get pretty close to enlightenment.
Well, the answer is to warn people about Newsguard! I’ve just taken a quick look around their site. At face value it looks quite comprehensive and professional, but I quickly noticed that while it claims to be ‘apolitical’ and unbiased, it has major rating categories that are all political.
The Newsguard rebuttal of CN’s emailed response is feeble at best. It appears that it simply couldn’t handle the overwhelming amount of supporting evidence that Joe provided.
Presumably, CN wears that as a red badge of courage. As it should.
I will make a Fall donation. But I must ask, after Joe Lauria’s response, how could NewsGuard still be continuing that nonsense? Joe’s response was a masterclass in professional journalism. It left no stone unturned. I felt utterly embarrassed for the NewsGuard flunky that attacked you. If I were he and I read that take-down of every point in precise detail I would have wanted to crawl inside a hole and die of embarrassment and shame.
If that were a basketball game it would have been 197-0. If that were a football game the entire NewsGuard team would have been carried off the field on stretchers. If that were the Gong Show NewsGuard would have been pulled offstage by the neck by the old-fashioned shepherds’ staves and the Gong would just now be dying out after permanently damaging the hearing of everyone in the hall.

The trouble is that these people of so called “NewsGuard” do not have a any shame or embarrasment genes between them. If they did things may be a lot different in so many ways.
