Historic Gifts for a $50 Donation

By Robert Parry
April 5, 2011

Twenty years ago was a pivotal moment in U.S. history. There was a chance to learn important truths about the Reagan era and to change the direction of the country – or to let the opportunity slip away.

Tragically for the American democratic republic, that window was slammed shut before many people understood its significance. Now, as a thank-you gift for donations of $50 or more to support Consortiumnews.com, you can be a witness to two key pieces of that lost history.

The first gift is a DVD of Robert Parry’s PBS Frontline documentary, “The Election Held Hostage,” which aired in April 1991. The second is a two-DVD set of the never-before-seen congressional debriefing of disaffected Israeli intelligence officer Ari Ben-Menashe also in 1991, after he evaded efforts to force his return to Israel.

To receive one of these gifts, just make a $50 or more tax-deductible donation by one of the options listed below and then e-mail us your choice of which DVD gift you would like and where to send it, at [email protected]. (You also can qualify for one of these gifts by signing up for a monthly donation of $10 or more. You can get both gifts with a donation of $100 or more.)

(For more on the historical significance of these DVDs, go to Consortiumnews.com "A Two-Decade Detour into Empire.")

Here are your donation options:

By credit card (Visa/Mastercard) at the Consortiumnews.com Web site.

By check or money order to Consortium for Independent Journalism (CIJ); 2200 Wilson Blvd.; Suite 102-231; Arlington VA 22201.

By PayPal (our account is named after our e-mail address "[email protected]").

(Our parent organization, Consortium for Independent Journalism, is a 501-c-3 non-profit, so your contributions can be tax-deductible.)

If you currently are a monthly sustainer or have made a $50-and-up donation recently, you also can receive one of the gift DVDs. Just send us an e-mail at [email protected].

For large donors who can contribute $1,000 or more, we are offering a special package of historic gifts: “The Election Held Hostage” DVD; the Ben-Menashe debriefing DVDs; Robert Parry’s Trick or Treason, a narrative of his PBS investigation; and Ben-Menashe’s remarkable memoir, Profits of War.

(Our supplies of Trick or Treason and Profits of War are very limited, so this special offer would apply only to the first six donations of $1,000 or more. Also, please follow up your donation with an e-mail request to [email protected] telling us where to send this gift package.)

As always, thanks for your support.

Robert Parry

Robert Parry broke many of the Iran-Contra stories in the 1980s for the Associated Press and Newsweek. He founded Consortiumnews.com in 1995 as the Internet's first investigative magazine. He saw it as a way to combine modern technology and old-fashioned journalism to counter the increasing triviality of the mainstream U.S. news media.
