Help Us Move These Books!
The most frequent question I get is something like: “Why doesn’t your important information get wider distribution?” There’s an implied criticism, that we aren’t doing enough.
The truth is that with our tiny budget, there’s only so much we can do. Beyond that, it’s up to our readers to make the extra effort to forward our stories to their e-mail lists, to public officials, to other news organizations, and to opinion leaders.
Indeed, a new reality of this era is that the old days of passively consuming news are over. The only way out of America’s media mess is if citizens become more engaged in supporting honest journalism and getting the facts out.
That’s a key reason why I’ve offered a package of our three books – Lost History, Secrecy & Privilege and Neck Deep – basically at cost, $29 for the first set and $20 for any additional sets. This way, I thought, readers could lend a hand, not only in getting the books out of our warehouse but giving them as gifts or donating them to libraries.
The books contain vital information about what went wrong with the United States over the past three decades. The reason we published them in the first place was to create a more permanent home for the information that we’ve compiled at Consortiumnews.com.
But now it’s up to you. Help us move these books!
If you buy a set and bring it to your local library, insist that the books be made part of the permanent collection. They can be an antidote to the lies and distortions contained in best-sellers by Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Don’t take no for an answer.
At minimum, you can get a debate started about why well-researched history is locked out of many bookstores and libraries, when so much junk is let in.
It’s up to you. We must democratize the information available to the people.
To order one or more sets of these three books (in paperback), all you have to do is send a check (or place a credit-card order) for $29 for the first set and $20 for any additional sets.
Checks should be sent to:
The Media Consortium; 2200 Wilson Blvd.; Suite 102-231; Arlington VA 22201.
Or you can submit your payment as an online donation to Consortiumnews.com, but you then must send us an e-mail – to email@example.com – explaining that you want the payment to go for the books and telling us where to ship them.
(For non-U.S. orders, please add an additional $10 for shipping.)
Robert Parry, Editor
Robert Parry broke many of the Iran-Contra stories in the 1980s for the Associated Press and Newsweek. He founded Consortiumnews.com in 1995 as the Internet's first investigative magazine. He saw it as a way to combine modern technology and old-fashioned journalism to counter the increasing triviality of the mainstream U.S. news media.
