WATCH: CN Live! — ‘Escalation’

Tension is soaring in the two insanely dangerous wars in Ukraine and the Mideast. We picked the brains of Ray McGovern, Scott Ritter and Ted Postol. Watch the replay.

Two wars, dragging humanity into despair and existential peril, have in the past week sunk to levels difficult to comprehend. The danger of a nuclear confrontation between Russia and the West over Ukraine has been theoretically with us for nearly three years, but last week it took on terrifyingly concrete form. And in the metastasizing wars in the Middle East, which carry their own more distant atomic threat, the genocidal rage of an unbalanced Israel spread deeper into Lebanon, while all-out war with Iran simmers; the ethnic cleansing of at least the North of Gaza is no longer denied in the Israeli press, and much of the world’s patience with the Zionist state ran out as its prime minister was indicted by an international criminal court never intended to pursue Western and allied leaders.

On the programme today to indeed help us understand all this was former C.I.A. analyst Ray McGovern; ex-U.N. weapons inspector Scott Ritter and Ted Postol, professor emeritus of Science, Technology, and International Security at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hosts: Elizabeth Vos and Joe Lauria. Producer: Cathy Vogan.

    THANK YOU SOOO MUCH
to ALL of YOU and to consortium news,
for reminding us of who are the adults
    in the room[s]!

i’ll send the link of your wonderfully
    encouraging talk to my [functionally
    ignorant] representatives in germany.

they tend not to listen to us anymore
bc they think THEY know everything.
and better than anyone else, of course.

as to the requirement of “people with guts”:
here’s to wassili archipov and stanislav petrov,
two cool-headed russian soldiers who, in 1962
    and 1983, prevented nuclear catastrophes.

Just how is that “Israel is our number one ally of the U.S.” thing doing right now. After the expenditure of billions and billions of U.S. $s.

Joe & Company this program last evening is The best I have ever seen on the topic.

Everyone of you fellows need to be in D.C. knocking heads together.

What to call this final push to the very brink of brinkmanship? The military seems to love names for their ops that are dire or demeaning. How about Operation Dark Angel? Or Operation Cocksure Stupidity? Whatever else, it will be lights out, my friends.

Oh maybe not all at once. As seen from beyond Earth’s atmosphere, maybe the lights will be seen to be “blinkin’” for a little while before going completely dark. But what would that then matter to the nightingale or the lark?

We humans seem to need something to look forward to. The events planned by Scott Ritter & friends sound like a good start. Though there’s always the question now of whether critical info has been so much “siloed” as to be un-hearable by those who most need to heed it.

Ironically, enough of the info already is out there available to everyone who cares to notice. It’s in the opening pages of Annie Jacobson’s new book as it was throughout Daniel Ellsberg’s Doomsday Machine. The recent snafu with Admiral Buchanan’s revelation (pun intended) a haunting echo of Ellsberg’s discovery of the possibility (one that Scott Ritter now pleads for us to understand), that once “the system” of nuclear engagement takes over it’s not only capable of flying on automatic pilot but on the say-so, not of the president or other high functionaries in government, but of a commander somewhere far down the chain in an isolated outpost as well.

Forgive me for saying so but dark angels would have a grim laugh at the poetic justice in that.

Without doing any additional investigation on my part because of time. But a few years ago the Air Force lost track of a certain. number of nukes loaded on an aircraft. The plane left one airbase and flew to another where upon the crews at that base were shocked to discover them.

I knew then the U.S. had security problems with respect to nuclear weapons security. I agree with Ted and Ray here on this topic.

Ted likely also knows about the problems encountered by contractors who remove out dated nukes from missiles. Work that occurs at contractor ran facilities located in states out west.

It is frightening to think that the typical well informed internet news junkie is more knowledgeable about geopolitics than the US war cabinet and politicians that make these geopolitical decisions because of the corruption of intelligence. But, that would explain the madness of the decision making coming out of Washington. Perhaps the issue isnt that we are living in an Orwellian universe, the issue is that we are living in an Emperor has No Clothes universe.

      I’m really liking this comparison.

The weavers of the invisible clothing being the MSM and MSM’s financiers.

Postol and Scott need to be in D.C. knocking heads together.

The horse shit going on there needs to be stopped.

More than just corruption of intelligence, I think. Delusion, hubris, belligerence, misunderstanding and desperation all contribute to the terrible decisions being made.

The tragic irony is that they (we) are not under any genuine threat – on the contrary, their perceived adversaries are bending over backwards to confirm this fundamental fact.

So, it is they who pose the biggest threat to the world today, and who might get us all nuked by their insanity!

One thing I like about these shows is I like to strain my eyes and try and make out on their bookshelves works that they’ve presumably read. I do it when Jimmy Dore has guests to. Of course, they must be sitting in front of their bookshelves.

      Grammar correction: too not to.

As The Obion says, the editor regrets the error.

    Hey Joe,
Please, please present Ted Postol giving his ‘Shake & Bake” briefing. (1:06:30 – 1:08:00)
    Bless You

Here’s a theory. The Zionist masters of the Collective West want a World War III. Even though Western Europe will be largely destroyed along with Russia, they will remain in financial control. Hence they will be able to rebuild and control both Europe and Russia. Politicians can be controlled by bribery, blackmail, and assassinations, and many are, as documented by Whitney Web in her book One Nation Under Blackmail.

In a possibly relevant parallel, Churchill was also a Zionist puppet (according to David Irving’s research). Churchill provoked Germany’s bombing of London by first bombing German cities. The Germans warned Churchill not to continue, but he continued. Germany was trying to extricate itself from Zionist banking power, but was destroyed by WWII. A similar war for economic control of Russia may be under way now.

This theory predicts that the Zionists will do everything possible to trigger World War III before Trump takes office.

Is this an alternate reality where Hitler was a good guy provoked by Churchill and Bugs Bunny is a Zionist provocateur?

I’m tuning in for sure. Thanks for putting this together.
