GARMISCH, Germany – Angela Martin, U.S. Aid for International Development (U.S. AID) briefs participants on U.S. AID’s role in countering terrorism during Trans Sahara Counter Terrorism Partnership Conference (TSCTP) in Garmisch, Germany, April 26, 2011. The partnership is a multi-faceted, multi-year U.S. government aimed at defeating terrorist organizations by strengthening regional counterterrorism capabilities, enhancing cooperation amongst the regions security forces, promoting democratic governance, discrediting terrorist ideology and reinforcing bi-lateral military ties with the United States. Additionally TSCTP will facilitate cooperation between the Pan-Sahel countries that include Mauritania, Mali, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal.
