CN VIDEO—Women’s March on the Headquarters of War: The Full Video Report

Consortium News videographer Netra Halperin has produced a full video report of Sunday’s Women’s March on America’s center for planning and executing war.

About 1,500 women and allied men marched on the Pentagon on Sunday to demand an end to perpetual war and the funding of education, health care and other social needs instead.

After marching one mile from Pentagon City a rally was held from a stage set up in a Pentagon parking lot, against the backdrop of the five-sided war headquarters.

Watch Netra Halperin’s one minute trailer, followed by her full, 28 minute report, which include interviews with comedian Lee Camp, a peace activist from Okinawa, retired U.S. Army Colonel and State Dept. official Ann Wright, Minar Muhawesh, founder of Mint Press News:

How is it that so many peeple who live in the USA hate the country where they live ?

Cuba has everything you need and want. The weather is better. And they desperately need your help, intellectually, and physically. I am sure they would love to have you.

Not quite ready to move just yet … ? Maybe Venezuela ? It would certainly help your weight problem, fasting is medically proven to reduce cancer risk.

Same here. Lots of great people. I do wish people would have been more willing to tough out the windy cold weather to the end of the rally. We’re going to have to be tough if we are going to see this movement through to the end.

I love me some Lee Camp and YahNé Ndgo.

But this kind of march is nothing but an exercise in feel-goodism. It doesn’t accomplish anything.

A march into a parking lot? What needs to happen is a march into the Pentagon, through the doors and occupy the damn thing so they can’t wage war anymore. Tens of thousands of marchers constantly marching in to be arrested and shutting the whole thing down.

Give us a little more time. This was not a one off event. The planning for the next action will be soon. Get involved if you want input.

A small thing but important to those of us who value not only journalistic excellence (which is why we look to Consortium News) but also decent, grammatical writing. The plural of woman is women. A “woman’s march” is the march of one solitary woman. Since there were many women involved here it should be “women’s” march. Please, please correct this.

1967 march was closer to 1000,000 at the Lincoln Memorial and about half, maybe 50,000 marched across to the Pentagon.

Forgiveness is the Only Way Forward
    by Mark A. Goldman|
    10/24/2018
Our culture is awash in lies, our government is irretrievably corrupt, most of our past and present elected officials are traitors as are the leaders of our military and security agencies. We have no institution that has the credibility or moral authority to judge anyone. No honorable elected leader would have any choice but to charge hundreds, maybe thousands of high ranking officials, soldiers, and citizens with treason and other crimes if he or she were to discharge their duties with integrity. After all we murdered our own people on 9/11 in order to make war on people in distant lands. Then we covered up our crimes and became accessories to them. But what chance is there that we could ever elect an honorable President. The only way forward is forgiveness in exchange for the truth. We need a clean slate so that we can begin again. This means acknowledging our mistakes, our infidelity and criminality, so that we can learn from what we’ve done. We need to revise our history to reflect the truth, to teach our children how to live as decent and responsible human beings. Otherwise we are all headed for extinction…there is no other way to recover from our crimes, our guilt, the inertia of our foolishness. We are not bad people, only ignorant, still early travelers on our own path to greater understanding.
If truth be told we have all behaved as well dressed, mostly well fed savages. We have for no provably good reason made war on people in distant lands, poisoned their soil and crops, destroyed their families and homes, left behind limb and life erasing land mines, past and future birth defected children, and at home we first made a holocaust on the indigenous peoples we found here, then disgraced ourselves by making slaves of peoples from other places. Now we have made corporate leaders into tyrants, corrupted scientists who falsify research and engage in secret, unscrupulous experiments; we allow corporations to produce unhealthy foods, and create medical infrastructure that’s not honorably committed to the public good. We produce weapons for no better reason than to enrich an elite few and create jobs that deny workers true human dignity. Our government does not govern for the good of us all, and our security agencies are the world’s most proficient criminals, dealing in drugs and weapons, illegal surveillance, and murder. Our institutions corrupt our children teaching them to lie to win what they cannot honorably achieve with hard work. Our media produces the antithesis of truth and responsibility. Our banks and financial systems are criminal organization design to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich and our lawyers are mostly engaged in subverting justice as they look for loopholes to enrich their clients, dishonorably prosecute the accused without trials, and incarcerate the weak and vulnerable into private corporations that deny humans a chance to recover their dignity and become productive citizens. I could go on and on naming the lies and deceit under which we all live, which we all allow as we look the other way, not wanting to know anything that will disturb our comfortable lives. We need to acknowledge the truth, forgive ourselves and others for our ignorance, and start again…wipe the slate clean in an honorable courageous fashion and try again to create a nation not of unconscious irresponsible savages but a nation of truly free people seeking peace and brotherhood on this blue spaceship we call Earth. https://www.gpln.com

Big money and big power issues being run for decades by sociopaths pulling the strings on elected puppets, innocent lives being destroyed, and here’s an identity politics circus.

It’s no wonder things are as they are.
