Julian Assange in Crisis for Fifth Unity4J Online Vigil; Consortium News to Broadcast it Live on Saturday

As the crisis over Julian Assange continues to mount, the fifth online vigil for Assange will be held on Saturday, to be broadcast live by Consortium News.

The isolation of Julian Assange, publisher of WikiLeaks, continues unabated as his lawyers and the former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, warn of deepening crisis for the imperiled asylee. These warnings come on the heel of the appointment of renowned Icelandic journalist Kristinn Hrafnsson as the new editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks – itself an indication of the dire circumstances at hand.

Assange’s most high-profile supporters are mobilizing for the fifth #Unity4J online vigil on Saturday  in solidarity with the silenced journalist. Guests will include the CIA anti-torture whistleblower John Kiriakou, ex-U.S. House of Representatives member Cynthia McKinney, progressive comedian Graham Elwood and ACLU Board member and Radio Host Garland Nixon.

Past vigils in support of this political prisoner have been a great success, drawing in hundreds of thousands of viewers, with the support of the official Julian Assange and WikiLeaks social media accounts, as well as Julian’s mother, Christine Assange.

The vigil will commence Saturday, October 6 at 10:00am EST (7:00am PST), and will run until 11:00pm EST (8:00pm PST). The #Unity4J movement invites all supporters of free speech, press freedom and human rights to participate in the historic event.  Organizer Suzie Dawson said:

“The astounding pace at which this solidarity movement for Julian Assange has grown is indicative of the universal respect and empathy for this generation’s greatest publisher. The greater the jeopardy he is placed in by the powers that persecute him, the more motivated and active his everyday supporters and defenders become. Every supporter who rises to protect him, brings our collective hope of justice and freedom one step closer.”

Thank you Consortium News for supporting Julian Assange. Julian established a online platform, Wikileaks, to publicize the crimes of governments and corporations that inflicted on the planet and humanity. No information means no chance for democracy. Our dignity diminishes with every moment of silence that is imposed on Julian Assange.
    Je suis Julian Assange.

I am confused why Trump is not assisting Assange. I view Assange as a truth seeker. All corruption needs exposure. I have faith in Trump and Assange and a great respect for their transparencies. Each bringing light to the world in their own way.

You are indeed confused if you have faith in Trump.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are embarking another a royal tour of deceptive public relations in Australia.

Australian parliament should barr Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from entering Australia until the UK frees Assange.

If Prince Harry himself has conscious and cares about torture and arbitrary detention, he should refuse to enter Australia without Assange accompanying him.

We have a partial clean recording of that part which we can upload.

Unfortunately the primary stream receiver had an update pushed to it which lead to system instability. We swapped to another receiver and ran offline for a few minutes while the systems rebooted. We should be better prepared for this in the future and have disabled automatic updates and ensured our scenes are backed up and ready on a standby server.

The wealthy who rule our world hate the truth, and will do everything to suppress and distort it. Look how much of their precious money they spend on hiding the truth, and persecuting those who would make it known. We are ruled by liars and thugs in the shadows.

The shame I feel and the anger I feel towards Australian politicians in both major parties in respect to the abandonment and gutless betrayal of Julian is beyond my ability to express. I am 72 years of age I have served 6 years in the Aussie Luftwaffa (R.A.A.F) and paid taxes only to be betrayed and lied to by shallow, spineless, self seeking politicians and a gutless main stream media. Stuff you all.

It is a great achievement for the friends of Julian Assange to keep his vital cause alive and in the world’s conscience, and thank you also to Joe Lauria of Consortium News for his unstinting promotional efforts. The spirit of Bob Parry is alive and well.

So why is it so important? Who has done more to help everyday citizens in this world understand the truth about what is happening in their world – without their direct knowledge and understanding? How else can governments, who have their own private axes to grind, be held to the account of the people they purport to represent? How else can truth ever hope to bring justice to their people and sanity to this world, on the abyss of circling the vortex to a black hole we may not be able to stop? Getting correct knowledge around (we used to call it truth) is all we got. That’s why it’s important. Thank you again for your immense efforts in pushing this “truth for survival” agenda.

I just can’t imagine how he is hanging in there–without internet access–for so long. If we are being told the truth, he is basically sitting in a room at the embassy without any access to the outside world. Or am I wrong? What does he do all day, day after day? Can he use a telephone, or is that also off limits?

That the US government is doing this to Assange, with its obedient poodle UK doing its bidding, shows how criminal and fucked up the US military and security agencies have become. Evil, shitty people to be sure–like that asshole Pompeo. If they had any moral integrity or ethics they would never have done this to him in the first place.

Ok then. I live in Australia where the silence about Julian is deafening! The AUS media’s virtual erasure of anything to do with Julian Assange is in alignment with the successful mind numbing effect all Australian media maintains in accordance with the USA’s Main Stream Media’s agendas. Living under wet concrete is my synonym of the awareness available to Australian consumers…I’ll do my best to be on line. Thanks for the united courage to fight for this.. David V Melb AUST
