A ‘Challenge’ or Matching Grant

From Editor Robert Parry: A medium-sized foundation, which is considering a $20,000 grant to Consortiumnews.com, has first challenged us to see if we can match that amount from reader donations. So, if you are thinking about contributing to our unique news site, this would be a good time.

You can donate by credit card online (we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover), by PayPal (our PayPal account is named after our original email address, “consortnew @ aol.com”), or by mailing a check to Consortium for Independent Journalism (CIJ); 2200 Wilson Blvd., Suite 102-231; Arlington VA 22201.

We also are registered with PayPal’s Giving Fund under the name Consortium for Independent Journalism. And, since we are a 501-c-3 non-profit, donations by American taxpayers may be tax-deductible.

Thank you for your support.

He founded Consortiumnews.com in 1995 to create an outlet for well-reported journalism that was being squeezed out of an increasingly trivialized U.S. news media.

I agree with John. Several of the sites I have been reading for a number of years (including this one), begin to show signs of subtle propaganda ever since the campaigns against “fake news” by organizations such as Google, NY Times, WashPo, ….. started. The ideal would be that all such sites are required to provide public lists of all their donors. To keep things practical, perhaps the list could be limited to all donations in excess of $100.

Who or what is this foundation? Who are those that control the foundation? I believe you must make this known publicly and not keep it hidden or obscure.

It would not be correct to reveal the name and background of the foundation, when they are only “considering” the grant. After the money is transferred to Consortium News, then, yes, definitely the donor should be revealed.
Not the Clinton Foundation, I assume, although by now, they are probably not bigger than “medium-sized”.

According to the Donation sidebar $20,000 has already been gathered from the ongoing Drive. Is this “challenge” a separate fund project?

Well said Zachary Smith. Interested minds would like to know.
