Ray, simply put, is an alright guy. The readers need to keep in mind that he is required to and continues to work within certain limits. Specifically I mean, prior to setting one foot outside the “community’s”door, he had to undergo a debriefing and thus is not privileged to unveil specific internal CIA policies and/or besmirch the character of former colleagues or superiors in any way that would result in criminal action against that individual(s). This is a fair and reasonable position to take because I too, at one time, worked for Uncle Sam and you can’t just go around openly discussing or admitting to back room deals or technical errors, that will obviously collide with statutory law. Suffice it to say that “truth will out” for example; Wild Bill Casey and the BCCI scandal. When Casey decided not to take any hand written notes during meetings with those banksters, the (informed) public at large, filled in the blank pages all by themselves. CONSORTIUMNEWS readers don’t need or expect the dirty laundry stuff, but may I presume that We do need what most Intel agencies frequently use, that is, plausible theories and explanations as opposed to the far fetched ones. Considering the value I get form Consortium News (I read most of the 2-3 articles per day published)), I’d happily contribute $25-$50 per quarter for my part (scaled relative to the cost of MSM newspapers: CN does not cover the same breadth of subjects, but does offer primary research and analysis, not just regurgitated Reuters/AN feeds).
However, I’d like to have some indication what the $100,000 per year funding goes towards – if that’s $10,000 in hosting/bandwidth fees and $90,000 in wages (non-profit does not mean no wages are paid), then that’s fine, but I’d like some indication regardless – $100,000 per year is a hefty sum after all.
Perhaps some page showing a summary of the annual accounts might be a constructive way to approach this, and elicit a few more donations from ‘hesitant’ contributors such as myself.
