Obama Joins in Criticism of Russia

August 20, 2008

Under Republican fire for supposedly lacking patriotism, Democrat Barack Obama mostly is toeing the line on the Bush administration’s – and John McCain’s – tough talk toward Russia over its conflict with Georgia.

Journalist Eric Margolis, author of War at the Top of the World, notes that Obama and the Democrats are shying away from any direct criticism of the Bush administration’s provocative actions near Russia’s borders.

(The written story continues below.)

“This is not like the Soviet Union and Finland,” Margolis said. “This is the US trying to stick its nose into Russia's backyard. The Democrats have not formulated their own position on this.”
